i did say goodbye to you. so many people don't get that.

but i didn't know it was the last goodbye.

did us end for you? the moment you walked out the door? it was cutting elastic, springing back to hit me when i didn't expect it.

because it didn't end for me. it still hasn't.

i still sit on the edge of the couch to make room for you, i never sit on the stool farthest to the left. your milk is still in the fridge and i know its spoiled now but you were always the one who threw it away.

i'm still waiting for you to wake up every morning, i'm waiting for you to text me at work, i'm waiting for you to walk in the door and smile and tell it me it was all a dream.

and i'm still waiting to wake up.
