《5SOS Sickfics》Luke- Surf's Up

The lads of 5 Seconds Of Summer were on break from tour. They had been for a few months now, but they hadn't had the chance to go home to Sydney for a substantial amount of time just yet. But finally they'd gotten on the plane back to their home city and were now reunited with their families. Luke was home with his brothers, his parents were on holiday. His brothers were glad he was home, there was someone to tease.
"Ooh! Is Lukey texting a girl?" Ben teased Luke.
"No I'm not, I'm talking to some friends and they are making fun of me because I can't surf," Luke replied.
"How about you come with us?" Jack offered, walking into Luke's bedroom.
"When?" Luke exclaimed.
"Today," Jack replied.
"Yeah, okay." Luke agreed.
"Go Luke! Meet us downstairs in 20." Ben cheered as him and Jack left the room. Luke got up from his place on the bed and went over to his closet. He grabbed out some board shorts, flip-flops, sun glasses and a towel. He got changed and then put the towel on his shoulder before heading downstairs.
"You ready to go?" Ben asked, finishing packing the car by taking Luke's stuff.
"Yeah I am," Luke replied, putting on his sunglasses. Jack started the car and they were off, driving to the nearest beach.
"Will you teach me how to surf?" Luke asked his brothers, hoping he wouldn't hurt himself. He couldn't miss anymore band rehearsals and the next tour in the U.S.
"Yeah, why wouldn't we not teach you? You can't get hurt because mum would kill us both," Jack said, looking at Luke through the rear mirror. Luke sighed and agreed, wishing he hadn't asked the question in the first place. Not long after, the brothers arrived at Bondi beach. They started to unpack the car and set up on the beach.
"Ready Luke?" Ben asked, picking up his surf board and taking his flip-flops off. Luke nodded in response and started heading for the water.

"Oi! Luke! You forgot your surfboard." Jack shouted at him. Luke mentally face palmed and ran back over to their stuff, picking up the spare surfboard that his brothers had let him borrow. Jack ran down with Luke, the two of them running straight into the water to try and catch up with Ben.
The three swam out further than the swimmers, where they could catch the best waves. Jack was the first one up and catching a wave. He got halfway in before going over the top and turning to face where his older and younger brother were.
"GO LUKE! CATCH THE BIG ONE!" Jack shouted as he started swimming towards the two. Luke looked behind him and spotted the very wave Jack was talking about, about 100 metres away.
"HURRY LUKE OR YOU WON'T CATCH IT!" Ben yelled, and followed his brothers. Luke nodded and tried to copy everything that Jack had done, not that long ago.
Luke waits for the wave to approach and he takes a few deep breaths, and hoped he wouldn't hurt himself. The wave was about 20 metres away, and he didn't realise.
"RIGHT LUKE! GET READY!" Ben yelled.
"Okay," Luke replied, looking back at the wave before standing up and catching it. Luke caught it and didn't do aswell as Jack and fell off.
"That was good Luke, but try to not fall off next time," Ben teased, swimming out to catch the next big wave.
"Luke watch Ben, he's better than me, watch everything he does," Jack comforted, moving himself and and Luke out of the way.
A few seconds later, Ben came surfing over a wave and did very well until he fell off. "See Luke, Ben is so much better than me," Jack shouted over the sound of the water. After a few more attempts, Luke was nearly as good a Jack. They saw a big wave coming and headed over to it. As it approached the three began paddling in the direction it was headed. As it hit, the three hopped up and began surfing the huge wave.

"WOOHOO!" Luke screamed as the three began heading towards the beach. His brothers laughed at him and he looked over at them to poke his tongue out.
"LUKE!" Jack yelled.
"WATCH OUT!" Ben shouted but it was too late. Luke had drifted away from his brothers and was heading for the rocks. He tried to get back on course but he ended up crashing into the rocks, getting knocked unconscious. Ben and Jack surfed the wave back to shore and immediately told the lifeguards. There was already someone on their way out to rescue him, all they could do was wait. The rescue was quite terrifying to watch, because there was a rip current taking him out even further.
"Son? Son can you hear me?" Harry, one of the lifeguards said quite loudly. Luke groaned in response and Harry lifted him on to the body board, paddling them both in. Two other lifeguards Bacon and Maxy were heading their way, with a spinal board and a medical kit. Despite the crowd of 5SOS fans crowding the scene, the lifeguards lifted Luke onto the sand and wrapped him up in a blanket. The three lifeguards did some first aid on him and carried him to the central tower on a stretcher to wait for the ambulance.
The ambulance arrived in record time and the paramedics checked him out before loading him onto the ambulance, saying he needs to go to the hospital for x-rays. Jack rid in the back with Luke while Ben was up front next to the driver. They got to the hospital and Luke was rushed in. Jack and Ben were asked to wait in the waiting room. They got to work informing Luke's bandmates and their parents.
Liz and Andrew decided they would wait until further information was given before they booked a flight home. Luke's bandmates all agreed that they would come to the hospital for 'moral support'. The three lads arrived just as the doctor called for relatives of Luke Hemmings. All the lads stood up and walked over to the doctor.
"Are you all here for Luke Hemmings?" The doctor checked, as there was a lot of people.
"Yes we are," Ben replied, anticipation building in all the lads.
"Are any of you related?" He answered.
"Me and Ben are his brothers," Jack answered, motioning to Ben. "The rest are his bandmates."
"Okay lads, so basically Luke has broken his left arm and left leg, he'll be in a wheelchair for 6-8 weeks until everything's healed," the doctor explained, leading them to Luke's room. When they walked in it was quite the sight. Luke's left leg was held up off the bed, his arm on his chest, both in casts. All five lads walked over to Luke, the doctor leaving the room and closing the door to give them some privacy.
"How you doing buddy?" Ashton asked, sitting down on the right corner of the bed while the other 4 took the chairs provided.
"Other than my arm and my leg being broken and my head hurting, I'm pretty good." Luke answered, a slight smile on his face.
"That's good." Ashton smiled back.
"So, 6 weeks in a wheelchair. How are you going to cope not being taller than the rest of us?" Michael smirked.
"I don't know, how are you going to cope having to take an extra 6 weeks break to push me around in my wheelchair?" Luke sassed back. Michael's smirk disappeared from his face.
"I won't mind." Calum put in. "I'll get to spend more time with my favourite person in the whole wide world."
"Fourth." Luke protested. Everyone looked at him confusedly. "Family comes first."
