《Fated (A Chris Evans Series)》Happily

When the official part of the wedding concluded, the celebration moved from one end of the property to the other. The guests made their way over to the reception hall first. The newly weds and their dog took some time to themselves before they had to go entertain their three hundred and fifty-six guests. They were overjoyed. They were married, it was official. The long engagement was over and their new life had begun. Their smiles were wide as they walked from the garden to the courtyard, even Dodger had an extra pep in his step. Denise felt Chris' wedding band brush against her finger and she giggled, tightening the grip she had on his fingers.
"What, Mrs. Evans?" He couldn't help but smile at that; his thumb brushed the side of her hand.
"Nothing, Mr. Evans." She giggled again then planted a kiss on his shoulder, earning one on the top of her head. "We should probably go join the party, shouldn't we?" Their vision stretched across the lawn to the reception hall that was bursting with people, chatter, lights, and music. "I'm sure everyone is wondering where we are."
"It wouldn't be the first time, let them wonder," he chuckled. "It's our wedding day." He pulled his hand out of hers and moved in front of her. With his hands on her waist, he gently steered her back into a wall. "I kinda wanna just..." He dipped his head and kissed her, lifting a hand from her waist to caress her cheek. She smiled against his lips, carefully running her hands through his hair. She wanted to do more than mess up his hair while kissing him, but there was still a wedding reception waiting for their attendance. "Tonight is going to be fucking amazing," he whispered. "And yes," a smug smirk formed on his lips, "pun intended." He chuckled when she did.
"It is, and I'm excited. But..."
"Like butt, or but?" He teased and she playfully slapped his arm.
"I'm trying to be serious here, Chris." Her giggly tone said otherwise.
"Okay, I'm sorry," he brushed her hair away from her face. "What is it?"
"I just-" she winced, "do you feel weird having sex while I'm pregnant?"
"What? No, of course not." He laughed when he realized she was expecting a different answer. "Wait, why? Do you?" She responded with a scrunched nose as she tried not to giggle at his furrow brows and quizzical smirk. "You've literally just brushed twelve weeks, babe. The baby's not even a proper baby yet, we don't even know if it's a boy or a girl."
"Yeah, but- he or she is growing inside me. I mean- don't you think us having sex while I'm pregnant is weird, like- our child is in the room with us?" She quizzed and immediately, he threw his head back and howled with laughter. "What?" She began to laugh too. He shook his head, eyes screw shut with a hand on his left pec as he continued to laugh. "Shut up," she playfully shoved him, blushing because she realized how weird she was being. "I'm just-" She couldn't think of a rational excuse for her irrational thought, making Chris laugh harder. "Stop, Chris!" She slapped his arm, laughing as hard as he was herself.
"You are so adorable," he squished her face in his hand and she grinned. "Don't worry, our little fetus doesn't have ears yet." He leaned in, kissed her cheek, and whispered flirtatiously in her ear. "You can be as loud as you want to be." She giggled and slapped his arm again. "Thank you for marrying me today, darling." He tucked her loosely curled hair behind her ear, brushing her cheek with his thumb. "You just made a simple man, very, very happy." He pinched her chin in his hand, lifting her head to peck her lips.

"Thank you for giving me the chance to do that," she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck. He dropped both hands and rested them on her waist, resting his forehead against hers. "We wouldn't be here if you didn't fall for me, Chris. I've always loved you, getting me to agree to marry you wasn't going to be an issue."
"Getting you to agree to marry Chris Evans, that wasn't going to be an issue. But getting you to marry me, now that was a little more challenging." She giggled and he smiled. "I am not the man the media portrays me to be, you of all people should know that. I'm a mess that makes even bigger messes, so yeah- I'm grateful you didn't run after you saw the kind of mess I was capable of making, especially in our house."
"Well why run when I can make you clean?" She winked and he chuckled, dipping his head for another kiss. Her smile reached her eyes as her lips moved with his, quietly breathing in his cologne; and him, her perfume, as they kissed. "I love you," she murmured against his lips.
"I love you too," he murmured back.
They were so caught up making out against the wall they didn't realize five of Denise's friends from Tumblr: Annie, Camila, Sam, Vivian, and Brenda were standing there. Earlier, they'd detoured to their cars to grab their flats so they could dance comfortably through the night. They'd only stopped when they heard voices coming from the courtyard.
Being a social introvert, Brenda's first instinct was to sprint when she discovered who the voices belonged to. She feared disturbing the newly weds and wasn't particularly ready to meet them either. But like the others who thought of walking away, it was surprisingly difficult to walk away from two people they'd been dying to talk to since they arrived at the wedding. That, and Sam had an obsession with dogs. Annie, Camila, Vivian and Brenda made the decision to walk away and look for them when they were done being newly weds, but Sam wouldn't leave until she got Dodger to leave with them. She was attempting to call him over without diverting Chris and Denise's attention onto them; the girl failed miserably.
"Oh my God," Denise gasped, reflexively pushing Chris back as though they were two teenagers who had just been caught by her parents. The girls winced and awkwardly waved at the bride and groom. "Well, this is kind of embarrassing," Denise pressed her lips together as heat rushed to her cheeks; Chris could only laugh.
"Can we help you ladies?" Chris turned and asked with a smile. "The reception hall's-"
"We know," Vivian said and immediately, her eyes widened realizing she'd just interrupted Chris Evans. "Shit, sorry." Chris and Denise both chuckled at their nerves; memory of her first meeting with him returned. "Um- we're going to the reception hall. You two keep doing what you're doing. And if you need a nurse 'cause things got too heated-" She tried not to laugh at her bad joke but she couldn't help herself; she was known for her witty remarks. "I'm certified."
"Vivian!" Annie slapped her arm. "We just met, um- I don't know her that well, but I think it was a joke. We're so sorry, we're going to go." The rest nodded in agreement, except Sam who was still trying to wave Dodger over.
Before they could rush off, Dodger ran over to Sam giving Denise her chance to stop them. "Wait, don't go!" Chris took Denise's hand as they walked over. The girls suppressed their urge to both squeal and swoon at the sight of Chris Evans in a tux. "Hi, I'm Denise. It's nice to finally meet you all in person." It wasn't until they introduced themselves that Denise finally had faces to their first names as well as their URLs. "Thank you all for coming today, your being here means a lot to the both of us."

"It does," Chris agreed with a smile.
The girls just nodded at him, unable to speak. They didn't know how Denise did it, how she'd stayed calm enough to have a coherent conversation with him the first time she met him. Perhaps it had been easier because they had been paired together by the universe. However she managed, they admired her bravery. It was clear all of them were going to need to some time to warm up, not just with Chris but Denise too.
"Are you a dog lover?" Chris asked Sam when he noticed Dodger nudging his head into her leg. She nodded and Chris smiled, "yeah. Dodger's pretty sensitive to stuff like that. You can pet him," he informed her. "He's a big ol' softie, the most he'll do is lick your face off."
"I can vouch for that," Denise agreed, chuckling.
"He's very cute," Sam descended to her knees. "Hi," she scratched Dodger's head and earned a lick from him. "Congratulations, by the way. You both look amazing." She looked up at Chris and Denise with a wide grin. "That dress is-" she began, her gaze washing over the bride. "It's made for you, Denise." She complimented with a nod and Chris looked over at Denise, smiling; the dress was indeed made for his bride. "I think I speak for both your fan bases when I say we are very happy the two of you found each other."
"And yes," Camila and Vivian said before Denise could respond to Sam's comment. "You have a fan base. I know you might not believe me when I say this, but we're just as excited to meet you as we are to meet Chris," Camila told Denise and Denise smiled. "You're amazing, and the fact that you invited us here is even more amazing."
"Yeah," Annie agreed, "no one else in your shoes would've done the same thing."
"Absolutely no one," Brenda managed a nod with a smile. "This is truly amazing, thank you."
"Thank you, and you are all very welcome." Denise told them and they continued to smile. "Do you girls have your phones on you?" She asked and they nodded. "Shall we take a quick photo together before we all get lost in the crowd?" They nodded again, a little more eagerly this time. "I want to remember each and every one of you, and- well, I'm sure all of you want a photo with the Chris Evans." Chris chuckled as his wife proceeded to tease him, "Because I do, every damn day."
"Likewise," Chris whispered to Denise when he kissed the top of her head.
The couple spent about ten minutes taking photos with the five. They took photos with just Denise, photos with just Chris, then photos with both bride and groom. At one point, both bride and groom posed for a video. It wasn't until Denise actually looked at the screen and realized Annie's was filming that she laughed and said "you're filming us and we're just standing here, smiling like idiots." It was at that moment the girls realized how similar the two actually were, and how truly adorable they were together.
"Would you all mind sending the photos to us?" Chris asked and they shook their heads in agreement. "Thank you. We would really appreciate that, it's going to look great in our wedding album." Denise looked over at her husband and smiled. What she really appreciated was him and how he allowed her to invite strangers she'd never met to their wedding. He could've just said 'yes' and left it at that, but here he was giving them his time and attention, and making them feel as welcomed and as important as the rest of their guests. The man truly was a saint who loved her more than life itself. "You girls look like you're ready to get this party started." He said when he caught sight of their flats. "Shall we go get our dance on?"
"Yeah, let's go," Denise agreed with a nod.
"After you, ladies." Chris used his head to beckon the girls forward first, leaving him and Denise to follow behind them and Dodger who was still happily trotting alongside Sam, his new friend. "Hey," he turned to Denise. "Do you want to make a stop and change out of your heels first? You will be more comfortable dancing in something flat. You might be a little safer too, clumsy," he teased and she rolled her eyes.
"I'm good in my heels. What's the point of having a husband if he can't even keep me standing up right?" She quipped and he chuckled. "Plus these heels are far too pretty to change out of. In fact, I might need you to carry me across the lawn so I don't ruin the white suede." She joked as she and Chris came to a halt, watching as Dodger and the girls made their way across the lawn to the reception hall. "C'mon," Denise tugged on Chris' hand and started on the grass. Before her heel could even touch down, he scooped her into his arms. "Chris!" She shrieked with laughter, turning the girls' heads who laughed when they saw the couple.
"Hang on tight, princess." He winked and she laughed, wrapping both arms around his neck. She met his gaze and smiled, leaning in to kiss his cheek. Her lips lingered for a moment before she pulled away. "Just because I'm carrying you across the lawn?" He chuckled and her smile widened at his humility. It was as though he'd forgotten how respectful and kind he'd been to her guests. "I ought to do things like these more often then."
"That is actually a 'thank you' for being wonderful and amazing."
"Well, darling. I did promise I would always be the best version of myself."
"You did," she smiled. "Are you regretting it yet?" She teased, giggling softly.
"No," he shook his head. "Nothing involving you will ever be a regret of mine."
"And he sticks the landing," she whispered and tenderly kissed his lips.
Dodger and the girls disappeared inside first, joining the rest of the three-hundred and fifty-one guests. Chris lowered Denise onto her feet when they got off the grass and arrived on the hardwood. They received a few congratulations from their guests who were drinking on the front porch, they thanked them before they entered the reception hall. The Best Man- who'd been awaiting their arrival- spotted them from the stage. He shared a smile with his brother and sister-in-law as he took the microphone from the stand to announce for all the guests to hear.
"For the first time on the dance floor, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Evans."
