《Fated (A Chris Evans Series)》Down the Aisle

Their moment under the oak tree ended when both bride and groom got texts reminding them their wedding was starting in approximately five minutes. Sebastian's text sarcastically stated "it would be grand if the bride and groom showed face." And though he didn't mention it in the text, their musician and their photographer were needed back too. Currently, as their guests were waiting for the ceremony to begin- there was no music, nor was there a photographer. The videographer was there but there was question as to what he was filming. Everyone was starting to wonder where the bride and groom were considering their entire wedding party was waiting at the end of the receiving line.

As they hurried back, Denise spotted their photographer a few steps ahead. She smiled, excited about the prospects of the photos he must've taken of their moment under the tree. She tried to suppress her excitement and kept from laughing out loud when she remembered Ed Sheeran was at her wedding. The actuality was absurd, she had yet to comprehend it. But then again, she was yet to comprehend that she was marrying her celebrity crush, Chris Evans; the man she thought she could only love through her writing. Even now as they walked together towards their wedding ceremony, fingers lovingly entwined, she still couldn't believe that she was about to marry and start a brand new life with him.

"Let's go!" Luca waved them over frantically, forcing the five to break into a jog. It was fortunate Denise was good in heels, and in a dress she could actually maneuver in. If she'd been in that Vera Wang ball gown, there was no doubt she'd fall flat on her face in an attempt to walk- let alone run. "You," Luca pointed at Chris then threw her thumb over her shoulder, beckoning at the alter, "get to the alter."

"Yes ma'am," he saluted Luca then released Denise's hand to take his leave, but not without kissing her on the cheek first. "I'll see you so-" He was yanked away from her before he could finish his sentence. "Geez, relax. It's our wedding, we can start whenever we want." He glanced over his shoulder as Scott and Sebastian dragged him down the stone steps, smiling when he saw Denise giggle. "I love you!" He called, waving and earning a wave in return.

"I understand it's you're getting married, Denise. But we'd all appreciate it if you and Chris weren't so disgustingly sweet." Luca tried not to smile as she playfully bit. "The sneaking off, the secret little meet ups...I mean- I'm happy the two of you are so in-love, really, it's great. But let's try and remember that today, we've got a schedule to keep."

"I'm going to remember those exact words for your wedding day."

"Let's get her veil on." Luca laughed as she gestured for Denise's hairstylist to pin her veil on. April kept her handiwork delicate, making sure both the bride's elegant hairstyle and stunning headpiece were accentuated. "Alright," Luca looked over at Denise's father as he approached. "Dad, let's do this thing. Guys and dolls, let's get in position." Denise smiled at her best friend, who was doing an amazing job as her Maid of Honor. She was excited to return the favor whenever she and Sebastian decided they would get married. "Stella, Ethan, Miles, I'm going to need the three of you to walk with Dodger, okay? Just down..." Luca's voice trailed off in Denise's mind when her father got to her.

"Here you go, sweetheart." Richard passed Denise her bouquet of roses in champagne and white. "Your something borrowed." He beckoned his head at her bouquet and her eyes narrowed in confusion. "They say your something borrowed should come from a happy couple, so we tied our wedding bands around the bouquet." Denise smiled, brushing the familiar silver bands with her thumb. "I know your mom and I aren't perfect. We argue, and we fight, and we have moments I know you wonder why we're still together. But that's what marriage is, it's loving someone in spite of everything. I want that for you and Chris, to tough everything out and love each other in spite of everything."

"Thanks, Dad."

She hugged him and felt him wrap his arms around her in return. Her father held her tightly, unable to let go for a while. It was a difficult day for him, he wasn't going to lie. On the one hand, he was incredibly happy that his daughter was marrying a good man; one she loved dearly, who loved her dearly too. On the other hand, she was his only daughter about to start a life away from his. The fact that she had only just turned twenty-two didn't help how conflicted he felt about the whole thing. He knew he would have to give her away eventually, he had just never expect it to be so soon. He wasn't sure if he was ready, much like Denise wasn't sure if she and Chris were ready for everything about to come. It was a huge change for everyone, but it was a change that had to be received with open arms.

"I love you." Denise kissed Richard's cheek when he released her.

He held out his arm for her to take. "I love you too, kid. Very, very much." He smiled, patting the back of her hand. "Now," he huffed, ignoring the hard thumps of his heart. He truly didn't know what he was feeling; he was suffering from an overload of different emotions. In a few seconds, he was about to walk his baby girl down the aisle. Even if it was a very, very good man he was walking her down to, he was still giving his twenty-two year old away today. "Let's get you to Captain America, shall we?"

"Please," Denise nodded with a smile.

Denise and Richard watched as the wedding party descended the stone steps: Dodger, Stella, Ethan and Miles; Scott and Zach; Sebastian and Luca; and all the other bridesmaids and groomsmen. They waited until the procession music started and the guest rose to their feet before they started towards the alter. Denise felt her heart leap into her throat as her father started to lead her down the steps.

"Please don't let me fall, Dad." She whispered as she tightened her grip on Richard's arm.

"I would never." He assured her and kissed the side of her head. "I know you're nervous, so just keep your eyes on Chris. You'll be next to him in no time." He advised and Denise immediately locked eyes with her soon-to-be husband. She shared a smile with him and her nerves eased. This was it, they were ending that long, long engagement.

The smile on both their faces did not falter as she walked down the aisle towards him, but tears did fill their eyes as well as the eyes of all the guests watching. It was happening. After almost three years together, the perfect pair were finally getting married.

Their families, their friends- every single person in attendance of their wedding felt jubilance. Even the people Denise had met on Tumblr, the fans who had turned into friends over time. They were ecstatic for the couple, even though they were watching Denise marry the man of their dreams too. Things were as surreal for them as they were for Denise. She was actually marrying Chris Evans. The girl who shared hopelessly romantic fan fiction about Chris Evans with them was actually marrying him, living out one of her stories; living every fan's dream. The preferred choice was to have been in Denise's red soles, but they couldn't deny how happy the couple looked together. They'd spent so many years reading story after story, series upon series- it seemed senseless to be anything other than happy for the two people evidently fated to be.

"I can't believe your Tumblr fans are actually here." Richard chuckled when he saw Denise grin excitedly at her group sitting together in one of the middle rows. "I mean- I knew you'd be crazy enough to invite them, I just- I didn't think Chris would be crazy enough to let you."

Unlike her father, Denise already knew Chris' answer was going to be 'yes' before she asked him about it. He knew how significant they were to her and how big a part they had played in getting them together. If the girls on Tumblr hadn't supported Denise the way they had, she would've given up before she even had the idea for her series. It was because of them that he found Denise, it was only right that he showed his gratitude. But in truth, he really wanted them there so his bride could have the experience of interacting with strangers who truly loved her work and admired her talent. It was one thing to have her loved ones tell her she was talented, it was another to have complete strangers tell her that. Chris wanted her to have something good to think back to when she released her work into the real world. If there was one thing he learned in his time in Hollywood, it was that in the real world- no matter how talented a person was, a reality check would always be written to tear said person apart. Chris wanted Denise to have proof, a moment she could look back at to remind herself that she was in fact great at what she did.

"That man is either a saint, or just incredibly whipped."

Salma and Tori registered with Denise first, they were the two she spoke to the most; over other forms of social media like Snapchat and Instagram which allowed her to see what they actually looked like. She also recognized a few other faces: Joanna, Trisha, Erika, Michelle, Heather, and Ellie. As they, too, had revealed their faces online, either in their profile picture or a picture sent privately to Denise through direct messages. The rest of the group Denise was yet to meet, but were excited to see them anyway. Some were older than Denise, some younger; and majority of them flew in from a different country. No matter the differences in age, gender, nationality, or race, they shared one key similarity: a love for love. Denise was eager to meet them in person, as was Chris. He had a lot to thank them for, as did she.

"He's a saint," Denise responded to her father's comment, smiling when she turned back to Chris.

With each step she took, they became a step closer to the life they both wanted. Everything was working out for them, just like it had since they met on the 28th of February, 2017. It was almost as though the world had been spinning out of turn, then they met and it settled and all the stars aligned. They were fated. There was no other explanation or reason for how they ended up together, it was just destiny. Chris and Denise could see that. In the eyes of the other, they could see their whole future playing out. The longer they looked at each other, the clearer the meaning became of the line: "I never knew you were the someone waiting for me." Every time they listened to 'Perfect', the more they felt the song had been written specifically for them.

Lisa and Tina clutched onto each other, trying their utmost best to hold it together. They were going to cry, but they thought it would make more sense to start crying when the vows were being recited. Robert and Richard- Richard, especially, were still trying to work it out. Chris and Denise were brought together by none other than fate, their worlds would've never crossed otherwise. Even if she'd worked her way into Hollywood, even within five years- she would've been too late. Their getting together was the will of the universe. Even Richard, who didn't believe in a lot, believed in that because he was walking his little girl down the aisle to the man she'd spent years writing about. He wanted to ask "how did you do it?" Because she'd done it, she'd done what she always joked about doing. She was actually marrying Chris with plans to spend the rest of their lives together, she'd completed her most absurd goal on her to-do list.

"You best take care of my little girl, Chris," Richard warned Chris when he came to meet Denise. Luca did too, taking Denise's bouquet before returning to her spot. She smiled at Sebastian, who was already smiling at her. Their smiles said it all, they were excited for their turn to get married. "Unlike Captain America," he continued in a playful tone, "you are much easier to kill."

"Dad," Denise laughed. "Could you spare me a day and not be embarrassing?"

"It's my job as your dad to be embarrassing, you'll understand when your own kid comes along."

"Oh, I will definitely do my job as a dad when our kid comes along," Chris told Denise and she laughed again. "Don't worry, Dad." Chris assured Richard, smiling at Denise. "I'll take very good care of her." Richard pulled him in for a hug, then hugged Denise too. He kissed her cheek before he joined the other parents in the front row. "This is it, huh?" Chris asked and Denise nodded, smiling. "Shall we then, my love?" He grinned, holding out his hand for her to take.

"Let's do this thing," she placed her hand in his.
