《Fated (A Chris Evans Series)》The Panel

Denise stood side stage with a smile on her face as she watched Chris, Anthony, and Sebastian interact with their fans. It was such a treat for her to be there, never had she imagined she'd be living the life she'd spent years fantasizing about. "They're just pipe dreams," the realists would incessantly repeat. But they'd been wrong because she'd made it, she was pursuing the career she wanted and marrying the man she'd only dreamed of being with. It was rare for one to be able to check off everything on one's bucket list, both realistic and unrealistic goals. But she was doing it, slowly but surely she was doing just that. Her gaze refocused on Chris and her smile widened. She didn't need to be reminded because she knew it was because of her soon-to-be husband that she was getting everything she'd ever dreamed of.

It seemed to be a well-known fact that in every relationship, there was one person who always cared and loved more than the other. It was a legitimate concern for many that Denise would be the one when she first started dating Chris in May, fast forward to September and it was now the last thought on anyone's mind. The love Chris carried for Denise was so strong it seemed hard to believe they'd only known each other eight months. He loved her to a point that he would've done anything for her. If Denise's dream was to fly to the moon, he'd build a rocket ship and sit alongside her on the journey. And that wasn't news to her because he'd tell her every chance he got, and with each time- she'd believe him even more.

Chris' offer was always genuine, as was his love, faith, trust, and pride. He was proud to be her fiancé, it always brought him a great deal of joy to call her his. Denise was unlike any other, with a talent he knew would become a world wide phenomenon. He didn't think he was being unrealistic when he told her he could see her checking off 'become a screenwriter' and 'win an Oscar' in the next few years. She appreciated his vote of confidence but remained pragmatic with her expectations. It was going to be at least ten years. After all, she was still a student whose only known title in the Hollywood Industry was 'Chris Evans' fiancée'. It wasn't a complaint, she was proud of her title. If that title was all she could achieve in this lifetime, she'd be absolutely contented and at peace with herself.

"Chris." The host, Max mentioned Chris' name and Denise returned her attention to the panel's conversation. "I think we owe you a congratulations." The whole crowd erupted into applause and cheers. It was an instantaneous reaction, pulling wide smiles from the future Mr. and Mrs. Evans. "You're engaged, man. That's-" The excitement and volume of the applause and cheers quickly escalated. "Yeah!" Max clapped as he egged it on. "Captain America is off the market!" Denise giggled when she saw Anthony and Sebastian; one nudged while the other patted the back of Chris who was heavily blushing. "Congratulations! That is awesome news, we're so happy for you."

"Thanks," Chris chuckled into the microphone then lowered his gaze to the ground as he grinned to hide his obvious excitement. It was a first for him to be so open about his relationship. He was known to be an incredibly private person, he kept everything tight under his hand. But it was different with Denise, he didn't want to- he had to tell the whole world about her. He was actually glad Anthony blurted out his engagement news because he didn't think he could, or wanted to keep it a secret until she graduated. As Denise stood there watching him, seeing how happy he was when they mentioned the engagement- she was glad the world knew too. "It's exciting, yeah. I'm very, very excited."

"For those of you who don't know who Chris is engaged to, her name is Denise Hogan. I had the pleasure of meeting her backstage," Max informed the audience. Denise smiled when Chris threw a quick glance at her. "And she is lovely," Max continued then turned to Chris, "I genuinely enjoyed talking to her." Chris' smile widened; he had a similar first impression when he first met her at the airport. "She's very mature at twenty, I'd even say she's more mature than you."

"Max, buddy." Chris laughed. "You realize she's watching this right?" He joked. Max, Anthony, Sebastian, Denise, and the crowd erupted into laughter. "Yes, she is. She's got a very old soul, a very old school type of girl. It's nice, it's actually one of my favorite things about her because I feel like it allows us to have a similar mindset. What we want in a relationship, in life in general. We don't have a lot of big disagreements, we argue about stupid things like- who's the better baseball team. God, I tell you, if she doesn't ditch her Yankees cap soon," he glanced over at her and she giggled, tugging at said Yankees cap.

"The Yankees are the best team," Sebastian piped up, earning a few cheers and jeers from the audience. "She's keeping the hat. And I'm sending a lifetime supply of Yankees merchandise as your wedding gift." Chris and Denise laughed. "I think it's cute that you think I'm kidding, Chris," Sebastian chuckled. "I'm going to do that so prepare your Bostonian heart."

"Whatever," Chris rolled his eyes then continued with his previous train of thought. "As I was saying, it's hard to find someone who wants the same thing, or just a long term thing in general. I feel like people, especially at her age, they all want something casual. Which yeah, it's great until you get to my age and find yourself still alone." The crowd voiced their agreements. "We both agree that relationships these days are moving at a speed we're not familiar with, or particularly fond of. With modern technology and the evolution that comes with each new generation, there's a shift in the dynamics of what a relationship should be like. We both like to keep things- y'know, traditional. Get married, have kids- the works. It's nice to meet someone who wants the same thing, it's refreshing. She's..." He looked over at Denise, smiling, "she's perfect and I love her."

Everyone who heard him lost it, a wave of "awwww" cascaded throughout the room. Chris gave Denise a quick wink before he turned back to his supportive audience with a grin. It felt good to be able to share what he thought of his fiancée and how much he loved her with other people, it was nice to see his love for her supported. He wasn't naïve, the limelight still craved for gossip and drama. He was still going to be fastidious with his words but he no longer felt like he had to run from their questions. He was secure with her, they had a good thing going. He knew she was in his corner and that she'd remain in his corner no matter what the public had to say in response to his depiction of their relationship. If tomorrow someone took Chris' words and turned it into something ugly, he and Denise would still be good.

"Do you think she'll join us on stage if we ask very nicely?" Max asked Chris as all four guys turned to look over at Denise. She shook her head vigorously at their inviting grins. "The audience can't see who we're looking at, but we're looking at Denise who is standing side stage. What do you say, guys? Would you like to meet Captain America's fiancée?"

Denise felt the butterflies in her stomach get trampled by a herd of elephants when the crowd started to cheer and chant her name. She continued to shake her head at the guys, Chris especially, who only sniggered in response. She knew her only move was to turn and leave but Chris jumped up and ran to grab her before she could.

His hands tightened around her waist as he pulled her back into his front. He smirked then whispered into her ear, "remember on the plane when you said, 'I'll be there for you if things get too overwhelming'?" She did remember and she was wishing she hadn't said that. Somehow she knew when she said it it would bite her in the butt later, unfortunately for her she was right. "Things are getting a little overwhelming out there and I'd love it if you joined me," he told her as he spun her around and took her hand.

"I don't want to go out there," Denise steadied her stance, fighting against his pull. "Please don't make me go out there." She begged then managed a nervous chuckle when she heard him reverberate a sound of amusement from his throat. "There are so many people in that audience, Chris. Majority of them probably hate me because I'm marrying you so I can't go out there. I'm just going to say something stupid that will become a meme and then I'll be a huge laughing stock and I won't be able to go on Tumblr or Instagram or any of the social media sites ever again."

"God, you are so paranoid," he laughed. "That is not going to happen, and even if it does- who cares? I'm sure I'm a meme, it doesn't matter. It's time you learn how to deal with big crowds, you're going to have to do that when you enter the Hollywood Industry." She sighed because she knew he was right. "Come on, you're so lovable that they couldn't hate you even if they wanted to. Think about it this way, if their celebrity crush adores you then-" he smiled when he saw her smile, "you bet your cute little butt that they're going to adore you too."

"Don't let go of my hand," she ordered in a tone that told him she was going to join them on stage. Chris chuckled and nodded, entwining his fingers with hers. He walked, gently tugging her alongside him. "Oh my God," she breathed when she walked into view; the crowd cheered. "I hate you so much." She murmured to Chris without taking the nervous smile from her face.

"Give the love of my life a hand, everybody," Chris instructed then kissed the side of her head as the crowd did as he asked. She let out a breathless laugh, taking everything in before she lifted a hand to give the crowd a small wave. "Isn't she absolutely beautiful?" Chris quizzed then shared a love-sick smile with her.

Another wave of "awwww" cascaded around the room, which quickly turned into laughter when Anthony called out, "oh, get a room," in a teasing tone. Chris and Denise turned to him, laughing. Everyone in the room fell in-love with them as a couple. It was so obvious they were irrevocably and irretrievably in-love with the other, so much so that the hatred and the jealousy that some in the crowd possessed faded. Chris was meant to be with Denise, and she him; one could reject that notion, but there was simply no denying it.
