《Fated (A Chris Evans Series)》Salt Lake City

Chris wandered the corridor in search of Denise. She'd walked off with Anthony and Sebastian after he'd taken too long at the vending machine, deciding what kind of candy he wanted. Everyone knew he was going to go for the bag of jellybeans, so why he had to stand there and consider every other type of candy was the real question.

Chris poked his head into the green room when he heard their familiar voices, smiling when he saw Denise with Anthony and Sebastian. The four of them had been left backstage while the events manager organized the final panel the guys were due to speak at. Saturday afternoon was what they'd been looking forward to the most as it was when their professional commitments in Salt Lake City concluded. Anthony and Sebastian had a good clubbing lined up whereas Chris and Denise were just going to have a quiet and romantic dinner.

"Ed Sheeran, huh?" Anthony asked and Chris looked up from his bag of jellybeans. He smiled when he remembered he'd been the one to bestow what she'd called "the best night of my life" on her. He looked over at them from the doorway as Anthony continued, "he's a pretty talented guy. I can see why you wanted to go, so how was it?"

"It was life changing," Denise answered enthusiastically. Anthony and Sebastian laughed as she said, "no, seriously. You'll see how life changing is it when you come to our wedding. I don't know how Chris did it, but he actually got Ed-" Both Anthony and Sebastian nodded before she could finish. "Wait," she scoffed in disbelief, "do you guys already know about it?"

"Yeah," Sebastian nodded. "He was making the phone calls on set, in-between takes, and during our food breaks." Denise felt her heart ache, except this ache came from utter joy; from knowing how much Chris loved her. "It was kind of hard for us not to know before you. Whatever long and winding process he had to endure, it was obviously worth it from the look on your face. If I were him, I'd worry about you running off with Ed Sheeran at the wedding."

"As much as I love Ed, there is no-"

"Ah ha!" Chris grabbed Denise from behind and she jumped, cutting herself short. Anthony and Sebastian laughed, understanding what Chris meant when he said Denise was easy to scare. "I was wondering where you wandered off to, I turned and you were gone." He kissed her cheek and she blushed when she saw the smirks on Anthony and Sebastian's faces.

"I never took Chris for a PDA person, but clearly that was because he hadn't met the right girl." Anthony remarked and Chris chuckled, releasing Denise to stand beside her and simply hold her hand. "It's cute, don't get me wrong. It's a little diabetic," Anthony teased, "but still cute."

"So cute," Sebastian cooed, "like straight up couple goals."

Like Chris had planned, he and Denise flew from Boston to Salt Lake City to join a small handful of his 'Avengers: Infinity War' cast, speaking at a panel for the Salt Lake City Comic-Con. It was traditional for the events to be scattered over a weekend, usually starting on a Friday. This wasn't Chris' first time, he knew if Friday was the first event all cast members due were arriving by Thursday afternoon at the latest. Even if said panelist/special guest only had a one day commitment, they were still allowed to have Thursday morning until Monday afternoon.

Chris' commitments consisted of one panel and two photo-op sessions, however he was lucky because all his events were jam-packed into one day; seven hours starting bright and early on at 7:30AM on a Saturday. It was because of this schedule that he'd managed to plan the very long weekend with Denise where they got to see their future home, and where she got to check Ed Sheeran's name off her bucket list twice. It was needless to say the weekend had been spent in an abundance of joy.

Chris did also attain a plane ticket and a VIP pass to Comic-Con for Luca, though Sebastian was the one she really had to thank for the pass. Unfortunately her class schedule kept her from coming along. As much as she'd wanted to, knowing Sebastian was going to be there- the fall quarter started on a Friday; a day famously known for her to have a class of some sort. Denise, on the other hand, was famously known to only have classes from Monday to Thursday which was when Chris promised he'd have her back by.

Denise could still remember the look on Luca's face when she was leaving for Boston, she was so upset Denise felt obligated to skip Salt Lake City out of solidarity to her. But Luca urged her not to, claiming it would've been stupid for both of them to miss out on an amazing opportunity. She made Denise promise instead that she'd FaceTime her at any given opportunity so she could have a look around, and perhaps even speak to Sebastian and Anthony.

Speaking of Sebastian, he looked oddly bummed when Chris and Denise turned up at breakfast without a third person. Neither knew why Sebastian was looking so forward to meeting Luca as neither knew he'd spoken to Luca before, but then they found out and their hearts leapt at the prospect of their best friends becoming a couple. It was possible, Sebastian was single now. Even if it was a little far-fetched, he was technically available for Luca. Denise understood it was probably a little too soon for him to move on but it didn't stop her from throwing Luca into the mix. They didn't need to jump right into things, they could've stared off as friends like she'd done with Chris and see where things went from there.

It would've been a dream come true for Denise to see Sebastian with Luca. Denise always thought it'd be fun to have couple best friends. She could have them be the godparents of hers and Chris' future children, and she and Chris could be the godparents of theirs. She had endless scenarios and movie-like expectations running through her head of what she wanted her life to be like. Chris was usually fed all these thoughts; night after night during pillow talk, they'd have aimless conversations until the other fell asleep. Chris loved those conversations even if Denise's ideas occasionally bemused him, he liked how much of a dreamer she was.

"Thanks, Seb." Denise shared a smile with Chris before turning to smile at Sebastian. "I'm sure one day it'll be us saying that to you and your missus." Her remark was one Sebastian chuckled wearily at while nodding with false pretenses. "Don't be like that." She reached for his arm and gave his elbow a comforting squeeze. "You're an amazing guy, you'll find someone."

"What do you think about running away with me, Denise?" Sebastian joked and Denise laughed, pulling her hand away. "You're only engaged, just take the ring off." Chris tried not to smile as he pursed his lips at Sebastian, pulling his hand out of Denise's to wrap an arm around her instead. "Oh relax," Sebastian chuckled. "We all know she's only got eyes for you."

"Here I was thinking I wasn't being obvious with my fawning," Denise quipped, lifting her head to plant a tender kiss on Chris' jawline. "Just so you know," she turned back to Sebastian, "my matchmaking skills are always at your service. If you're looking for someone outside your social circle, I've got friends of all ages." She noticed the way his wheels were turning behind his eyes but played it cool with a nonchalant shrug. "Just hit me up whenever you're ready."

"Will do," Sebastian nodded.

"We're ready." A man with a clipboard and a communication system attached to his right ear walked over. Anthony, Sebastian, and Chris nodded; the first two followed the stage manager, whereas Chris secretly held back so he could kiss Denise goodbye. "You're going to..." Chris' instructions faded as the three disappeared around the corner.

"And you say I'm not subtle," Chris' laughter was smothered into Denise's hair when he planted a kiss on the top of her head. She just grinned as her response which made Chris laugh harder as he pulled away from her. "C'mon, weirdo." He took her hand and pulled her with him as they walked in the same direction the three had gone in earlier. "You can sit side stage and listen to your favorite Marvel trio talk."

"I think you meant to say 'listen to my favorite Capsicles talk'." She giggled when he rolled his eyes at the nickname she came up with. "Don't you say 'Sam hasn't been in the ice before, it doesn't work' because it does work. I told you he's a Capsicle because he's cool and a part of team Cap."

"You are such a dork."

"Says the guy who's been publicly labeled as a 'stupid bearded sweater wearing dumb dork'," she reminded him and he burst into laughter. It was funny the first time he read it on Jimmy Kimmel's segment 'Celebrities Read Mean Tweets', and it was still funny every time she reminded him. "You're lucky you're cute otherwise I wouldn't have fallen in-love with a stupid bearded sweater wearing dumb dork like yourself." She teased him, then giggled when he wrapped his arm around her and squeezed her tightly against him. He pressed his lips against the side of her head, then whispered with a smile on his lips.

"I'm lucky to have you love me, period."
