《5SOS SICKFICS》Calum - high fever
Advertisement
Calum was feeling absolute shit for two reasons. One, he was sick. He had a high temperature. Not anything high enough to go to the doctors for though. The boys decided that he should just rest, relax and sleep it off. Which Calum wasn't satisfied with either. Thats the second reason. Ashton was making him stay in bed. it was so boring. Luke and Michael got to play games and have fun the entire time. Calum wanted to have fun too. He had tried to give Ashton a pout and puppy dog eyes, but Ashton mastered the rare ability of standing Calums cuteness. The pouts and cute eyes had no effect on him. When Calum found out about that, he tried to whine his way out of his bunk. He hoped he made enough noise for Ashton to let him get out of the bed. One thing was that he was bored. Another was that it hurt. So he tried whining again. Because of both reasons.
"Calum come on! Please just sleep! Stop whining!" Ashton yelled and Calum stopped, which surprised Ashton a lot. Calum never stopped after only one time. Calum hiccuped. He could feel how he was about to cry but he tried to hold it in.
"Calum?" Ashton asked more gentle this time. He got a bit worried for his friend now.
"Want Luke.." Calum mumbled and almost choked on his own tears. He heard footsteps pass by his bunk and someone speaking in the lounge room. After a while, someone gently grabbed the curtain by Calums bunk and pulled it away. Calum looked sadly at Luke and Luke smiled sadly back. He climbed into Calums bunk and wrapped his arms around him. Calum cried into Luke.
"shh.." Luke soothed and brushed Calums sweaty hair out of his face. Calums cries slowly calmed down to small whimpers.

"There we go.." Luke whispered and held Calum close in his arms. Calum missed home at times but Lukes embrace felt like home, and could make every amount of homesickness go away.
"Maybe you shouldn't do the show tonight.." Luke mumbled, which made Calums head shoot up to look at Luke.
"I've gotten better! Since yesterday! My temperature isn't that high anymore!" Calum argued. "I can take it." He added.
"I know Cal, it's just.. You know how hot it get's in there. What if your temperature goes up again?"
"Then I'll walk off stage! It's simple!"
Luke sighed.
"Okay, but tell me if you just feel the slightest sickness okay?"
Calum nodded and snuggled back into Lukes chest.
Later that night they had the concert. The boys and their managers had allowed Calum to sleep backstage, during the soundcheck. They were all grateful for that and Calum actually enjoyed the hour of sleep he got, instead of being bored.
"Hey, how are you doing?" Michael asked as he entered the room.
"I'm okay." Calum said. He had just woken up. It was actually a lie that he was feeling okay. In fact, he was feeling worse.
"Okay good. It's time now so go get your bass."
Calum nodded and walked to one of the other rooms to get his bass. He then swayed his way back to Michael.
"Are you sure, that you're okay?" Michael asked worriedly. Calum tried to nod, but instead everything turned black and Calum collapsed onto the floor.
"Calum!!" Michael yelled out in surprise. He ran over, got the bass off Calum and held the boy in his arms. "Someone help!" He yelled.
No one heard him though. He wasn't sure of what to do. He couldn't just leave Calum here.

"John? Do you know where Michael and Calum are? they have 2 minutes to get back." Andy asked John, the manager of the band.
"No I don't know. I think Michael went to Calum, to wake him up and get his bass." John answered.
"I'm gonna go look." Andy said and left. He walked backstage. As he got closer to the dressing rooms he could hear Michaels screams for help. He ran as fast as he could to the boys.
"Andy, help! Calum passed out!" Michael yelled, obviously panicking.
"Michael, calm down buddy. Calm down. You just stay here, I'll inform the paramedics." Andy said and ran. He ran to the paramedics and explained the entire situation. They followed him back to Calum and got him onto the stretcher.
"We have to cancel the show. Calum is going to the hospital." Andy told John as he came back.
"Wait what?"
"He passed out."
Luke and Ashton had both heard their conversation and ran to Michael. They hugged him.
"We gotta go Mike, John will take care of the show." Ashton said to Michael who nodded and they all went to Ashtons car. They drove after the ambulance to the hospital.
Calum had to stay in the hospital and get some fluids for about a day. But after that day he was way better.

Broken Skulls, a Skeleton's Tale
Summoned as a Skeleton with no name, and unable to remember who he was. On the second floor of a dungeon in the heart of a city, with adventurers all seeking fortune and glory in its depths. No weapons. No Armor. No name. Only the grim determination to stay alive... At all costs. ---------------------------- Author's Note: This is the first story I've attempted writing in roughly seven years. While my writing style may be a bit rusty, I hope to be able to provide nothing more than a good book to sit down and read for awhile. P.S. I might not be able to be consistent with updates to the story, but I'll do my best! I hope you enjoy! ---------------------------- Cover art done by ShayeSoForgetful.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
