《Wrecked》The boys confession

"So I left the divorce papers on the bench and my son drove me straight to the airport." Dailia squeezed elena's hand as she spoke to the group. Her head was dropped, her eyes emerged into the fire as she finished her story.

I watched a few eye brows rose around the circle, the women words catching a few people off.

We had all known that the two ladies were in love, we could see it in the way they looked at each other. We could sense it in the air whenever they were with each other.

But I don't think any of us had suspected that they were both married to men and had ran away together before this whole mess happened.

I watched Elena press a soft kiss onto her partners hand that was entangled with hers. Dailia glanced up from the fire slowly to met the eyes next to her. I watched her entire body relax once their eyes connected, what they had was true love. I hoped that everything worked out for the two of them.

"Wait so, you're children knew about all of it?" Ari spoke up, pointing out something that i hadn't even picked up on. But know that the question was out there I couldn't help it as my interest peaked.

"Our son's met the first day of school this year- they introduced us. My daughter was the one who told me she'd never seen me happier than when I was with her. She told me; I'm sured you really did love dad. But people fall in and out of love everyday, your love made me and Jack but now I think you have to follow your heart mum." Elena brushed away the tears that fell from her eyes. "I'll never ever forget that. Because, besides having them, Dailia is the best decision i've ever made in my entire life."

She turned to the women and the group all knew the moment was personal and most people turned away. I couldn't help myself, though i was too enraptured with their pure love.

"I love you more and more every day, I can't wait to get back and start a life with you." Elena's hands held onto either side of Dailia's face as they both had tears streaming down their face.

Dailia leaned into Elena's hands before leaning forwards to press their lips together.

"I hate how long it toke me to admit it, but i've loved you since the very first day I met you."

I had to look away at that point, their confessions seeming too personal for any one to be bearing witness to.

My attention caught onto James who had begun to talk. James' son was fast asleep in his lap and his fingers were absentmindedly playing with his hair.

"My wife and I were bringing the kids to Hawaii to tell them we were getting a divorce." His words shocked us all. During the first days the family had seemed like a tight knit unit- the death of his wife and daughter had left James looking broke.

As i glanced around the circle that was surrounding the fire I watched all the smaller groups of people. I watched their faces and realised that I didn't know any of these people- not really. I didn't know what had put them on that plane, I didn't know what small things were eating at them, flooding them with guilt, or motivating them to stay alive.

As my eyes met Jesse's from across the circle, his lips turned up in a tiny gesture, I realised I didn't even know him.

No, I did know him. I understood him better than any one else, I could just sense the kind of pure heart he was. I just knew the core of what he was, I couldn't put my finger on it but I just knew that we were connected in a way that didn't even make me question anything else about him.

James continuing stopped my train of thought.

"We were always going to love each other but we both agreed our love wasn't the kind of soulmate, mind-shattering love that we'd both always dreamed of. We both loved our children more than we'd ever loved each other and i'm so, so, grateful to have them in my life."

A tear slowly fell from his eyes, but he made no effort to stop it, nor did he stop the tears that followed.

"Maggie and Becca will always live in here." He held onto his chest, signalling to his heart. "And JJ and I will always be better because we had them, and their love in our lives. We wont ever forget them."

I couldn't help but notice as his hand began to reach out for Chadna's. Her thumb began to rub the back of his hand as he toke deep breaths to calm down. I had always noticed the two of them together in the corners, I had noticed them playing with JJ.

I knew that the two were both broken. The memory of pulling the women away from her dead husband was one that would continue to haunt me. But I was glad they had a source of support within each other.

"My husband and I fought over going on this trip all year." Chanda spoke up, her two sisters sat besides her and at her feet both turned to watch her.

"It was going to be our two year anniversary while we were here and I didn't want to spend it with my family. I thought we deserved a trip on our own. But this was my families tradition and he wouldn't let me bail. All I can say is that I'm glad we came, because if you two had gone threw this without me I think I would have died of guilt."

Her hand was free from James as she reached out for Rukma's and Nisha's hands. The two other girls both had tears in their eyes, mirroring their older sister.

"I loved him more than anything, but I have to be greatful that the two people I love just as much are still by my side."

It was beautiful. The three sisters staring at each other as everyone else grew silent- mesmerised. This was the most at peace I'd seen the older one, a genuine smile was formed over her lips. yes, it masked pain in her eyes- but it seemed to me this was her first step towards healing.

"He wanted to visit were you got married, he was going to renew your vows." Nisha whispered. Surprisingly all that Chadna did in response was smile deeper.

"What a bloody romantic."

This caused a few people around the circle to release a chuckle.

"Well My family was on our way here to scout out the university of Hawaii, they offered Freyja a full scholarship." Ari spoke up threw the laughs and suddenly all eyes were on him and his elder sister. She seemed to blush, her hair hiding the full extent of it, however.

Something in her eyes told me she didn't want to talk bout it, that she knew it was never a possibility know her parents were dead.

"I was never going to go anyway, I didn't want to be so far away from you and Lola. Now I'm definitely never leaving your side." She brushed it off, ruffling his hair with a slight smile.

I think Gemma sensed that she didn't want to elaborate too, so she spoke up. "My best friend was getting married. But I was meant to be working on this flight anyway, I had to take work off last minute when the dates changed." I didn't know she was a flight attendant, let alone that the women had to experience not only her co-workers dying but also the entire wedding party. I wonder if any of the initial survivors had been the bride.

"Well you all already know that I was on a school trip. But I wasn't going to be with them the whole time, I was going to train with specialty coaches. I was picked in the olympic team for gymnastics. That wont be happening any time soon." Somehow she managed to speak with a smile on her face, even as she pointed down to her one which for sure shut down any chance of that future to be a possibility. By heart broke for her, I could only imagine what it would be like to work your whole life for something to have it ripped away from you.

"I work with interpol. My partner and I were following a lead. She insisted we take the private jet but I wanted to fly with everyone else, I wanted to feel normal- because nothing in my life is normal." Mason words didn't surprise me, from the little I knew about the boy it seemed in character.

"What did you do to get into interpol? You don't seem like a typical badass." Ari questioned, a smilier question from what I'd heard him ask days before.

"I wasn't always on the good side, I used to hack into big banks and transfer all their money to people who didn't have very much money. When they caught me, they didn't want to waste my skills." I could tell their was more to his story, that Mason was a interesting person that I would love to have the chance to dig deeper into one day. But i knew that at the root of all that he was just a genuinely good person that wanted to help people, that I already knew.

"Cool!"

"I was on my honeymoon. We had a couple mates with us but none of them survived the crash, I mean Camila made it out of the crash so I thought I was one of the lucky ones. I still had her. I guess I was a little naive." Gemma's arms wrapped Joe as he spoke, his he'd fell straight to her shoulder as his arms wrapped around her. Ari and Freyja each reached out but were pulled into the hug as well. The four of them looked at peace in each others arms.

"I was on the plane alone, on my way to a cemina. I'm just lucky I was here so that I could look after this princess." Jenny spoke up, hugging Addy to her chest.

"I was on a trip with my wife." Emmet stated quickly, not bothering to elaborate. No one pushed him.

Everyone had opened up about their reasons for being on the plane, everyone except Vincent and Caila who were on watch, and Jesse and I. I didn't think I could lie to everyone, I couldn't do it.

I could feel the silence hanging in the air, people were waiting for one of us to speak up. The anticipation grew thick, but eyes hung low to that they didn't meet anyone's questioning gazes.

Just as I couldn't take it any more a voice shattered the silence, and the pain echoed within it was something I never expected.

"I was on my way to my sisters funeral."

I didn't need to look up to identify the voice. It was Jesse that had spoken.
