"No, Claire. Mas magiging maayos ang pag-aaral mo kapag nailayo kita dyan sa boyfriend mong tambay lang naman sa kanto!" pasigaw niyang saad. Namuo ang galit sa aking sistema.
Pinunasan ko ang lumandas na luha mula sa aking mga mata.
"Ma, hindi siya tambay lang sa kanto. Si Josh ang pinakaresponsableng taong nakilala ko, ma. Siya 'yung tumanggap sa akin at nagparamdam sa akin na hindi ako nag-iisa noong sinusubukan niyong ibalik ang relasyon niyo ni papa. Nakalimutan niyo na nga po ako noong mga oras na iyon ma!" mag-asawang sampal ang natanggap ko mula kay mama. Nakita ko kung paano mag-alab ang kanyang tingin sa akin.
"At ang gusto mong piliin ay ang lalaki mo imbes na iyang pag-aaral mo? Claire, iniisip ko lang naman ang mas makabubuti sa iyo." Pakiwari ni mama. I pressed my lips together.
"Hindi ma, hindi niyo talaga alam kung anong mas makabubuti sa akin. Hindi niyo po ba nakikita? Hindi naman po bumaba ang grado ko sa school ng dahil lang sa pakikipag-relasyon ko kay Josh. Kung tutuusin nga po ay siya pa ang tumutulong sa akin para mas magpursigi ako sa pag-aaral kahit na ang gusto ko na lang pong gawin ay tumigil at sumuko sa buhay." Naiiyak kong saad at napaupo sa sahig. Nagbago naman ang ekspresyon ni mama.
Ma, I'm sorry, but I'll fight for Josh. I'll fight for that man.

Ravyn's Nights - Book 3
Claire's life led her to love. Love led her to death. Death began her eternal struggle to retain both her love and her humanity through 5 centuries of endless nights. Book 3 covers the 19th century. "Ravyn's Nights" is a six book series, with each book covering a different century. Book 6 was actually started first, and it takes place in the near future, bringing the story to a final conclusion. I then started writing the rest of the series when I decided that I wanted to share the details of the life that made her into who she is in Book 6. At the time of posting the first chapter of the series, books 1-2-3 are completed and books four, five and six are in various states of completion. There is currently a novella following a side character that does include a few crossover chapters featuring the main character. The novella will be included in the completed versions of books 4 and 5.

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. Without his longtime avatar, his gear, his guild, the in-game cryptocurrency earnings, or even most of his friends, Sendai's going to have to hustle if he wants to make rent in the real world without spending sixteen hours a day pushing algorithms through his skull. His time in the fight pits of New Idaho mean he has a strong Neural-Affinity for melee combat, but the unfamiliar martial arts world of Wind of the Eight Kingdoms will take more than a brawler's instinct to master. If he's ever going to gather up his old crew and take revenge on the jerks who brought down BlackStar he'll need to become top dog in dozens of game worlds, especially if he doesn't want to starve while doing it. At least he's still got his reflexes, his two girlfriends on different sides of the planet, and his real-world pet cat, Mancini.

The 'villainous lead' tag is a very loose tag. Some of the things the mc does can be considered villainous to those with a staunch moral code, however, I have not made the mc out to be overtly villainous. True Title: Advent of the Silent Storm (I came up with the original title a while ago, before I had even written a single chapter. It still kind of fits but this new title fits a lot better. I would change it but I don't know if it would screw up the recommendation algorithm.)
