Jiung:
It was the exact same pastry shop and the exact same chocolate cake except, you finally bought it this time.
There were no handsome boys or any Jiungs to confuse you. At the same time though, you missed him. Not like you spent that much time together but still, a while after you left him in that park not even looking back, you started to feel like something was missing from your life.
It wouldn't have been the same eating that amazingly delicious and sweet piece of cake alone so you didn't buy it at all.
You didn't know what you were missing more in the past month. Probably his hilarious but at the same time cute as hell laugh or his ability to make you feel completely delighted even after the worst day of your life.
You walked into the shop, fully focused on how are you going to eat your cake alone in your room again. You never missed anyone's company so bad before but that day you felt like you're going to go insane if you have to handle one more night of watching Netflix, doing nothing at all.
"Yeah, that one."you smiled at the woman, who was always there at the time you visited the shop, and pointed your finger at the cake.
"I'd like one of those too!"you heard a familiar voice from behind you. "I'm paying."
You didn't recognize it at first but when you turned to your side you saw Jiung with a wide, bright smile. His cheeks were pink and he seemed to be sweating really hard.
"Hi!"he waved, then he took the cakes from the woman.
"Jiung?"
"Yeah. As far as I'm concerned."
You rolled your eyes but you couldn't help a small smile appearing on your face.
"I mean, are you ok?"you laughed, taking your cake from him. "Were you running?"
"I had some business to take care of in this area and I saw you from the bus, so..."
"Please tell me you didn't jump off of the bus and ran here."you held back, because you didn't want to burst out laughing.
"Well yeah, I did."
The place was empty, and even though the closing hour wasn't even near, it was already getting dark outside and everyone was rushing to take the last buses to home. No one wanted to be outside on a tuesday night especially that the weather slowly started to turn into its chilly, cold form. The beginning of autumn had a big impact on people in your town including you. At first, you thought that was the reason you were really happy about Jiung stepping into your life like a chaotic hurricane but soon you realised there was so much more to it.
You decided to sit at a table instead of the park. Somehow it felt so natural for both of you to sit down together.
"How has your month been?"you asked.
"My mum?"he looked at you with confusion in his eyes, pouting his lips.

"Your month, Jiung!"
You couldn't decide if he was going to burst out laughing or crying just by observing his face expressions.
Eventually you heard his high-pitched laugh filling up the whole place. You instantly knew you could never get enough of it.
"It was kinda repetitive and boring."
"Same here."you tasted the chocolate cake for the first time in a while and all of the memories of you and Jiung sharing it when you first met brought a bright smile to your face.
"Can I be weird?"he suddenly caught your eyes.
"Even more?"you teased him a bit.
"I missed you. I know we only met once but we really spent quality time."he laughed.
It seemed like he was trying to laugh his stress off but it only lasted for a few seconds then the same old cheerful smile spread across his face again.
"You know what? I missed you a lot too."you admitted.
"I'm so relieved right now!"he placed his palm on his chest, trying to find his heart. "Hey, don't make fun of me!"he mumbled.
He was laughing with you of course.
You were eating your cakes peacefully, sometimes looking at each other. You didn't know his reason but yours was obvious. You just wanted to check if he was still there. You felt like you didn't want to let go of the feeling of being with him and just enjoying his company even if you two weren't even talking over your food.
That was the first time when something that your granddad used to tell you a lot, made sense. "You should find someone who you can enjoy silence with, too."
When you finished eating, he leaned a little bit closer to you over the table.
"There's a little bit of cream here..."he pointed his finger at you.
You were tapping all around your face but you couldn't find the right spot for God's sake.
"Wait, let me..."he leaned over the table again and gently removed the cream from the corner of your lips with his thumb.
"I-
Thanks."you laughed off your nervousness but you couldn't prevent your cheeks from getting red slowly.
"You're blushing."he exclaimed.
"I'm leaving."you stood up from your seat but your shoulders were shaking from laughter.
"Please don't."he stood up in front of you. "But if you really have to go, I'll walk you home."
"You don't have to."you sent a friendly yet amazed smile at him. "How is this boy even real?"you stated this question a lot.
"I do. I had such a good time with you and I don't really want it to end if I'm honest."
"That'd be amazing if you walked me home."you finally agreed.
"Let's exchange numbers first. We don't want to lose each other again, do we?"
Intak:
The silver light of the moon made your reflection look like a ghost in the mirror.
You nearly drifted off to sleep when you heard a small knocking sound on your window. It was already past midnight, but you couldn't sleep so you started to get annoyed and you cuddled up with your pillows even more. You tried to ignore it but you had to crawl out of bed eventually to close the curtains.

Your phone was laying beside your head as if you were waiting for it to ring or something. You started to miss your friends but you didn't want to bother them so you checked someone's name again...he was active 30 minutes ago. Not like you would just text Intak out of nowhere but you always felt like you're braver during nighttime. They say it's the time for your honest feelings to come to the surface but still, you'd rather just wait for him to text you again.
The moonlight was so beautiful that night but you were mad at the whole world because it didn't let you rest with its brightness. You weren't really tired to be honest so you checked what was going on outside.
Your eyes widened as soon as you saw a tall figure hiding in the shadows of the house. You wanted to run to wake someone up but you noticed that the person was searching for something on the ground, then a small rock hit your window. That was when you recognised him. Your mind was all over the place, you couldn't cope with the fact that he showed up in front of your window at this time, when you just stopped thinking about him.
You opened the window just before he could throw another one at you.
"Intak?"you tried to whisper as loudly as possible. "What the heck are you doing here?"
"I'm waking you up."he stated the obvious.
"Why exactly?"
"I wanted to show you something!"
"It's literally past midnight, Intak."
You honestly couldn't understand this boy and you didn't even want to know what was going on in his mind, but you sure was totally ok with some adventure.
"I know, so what?"
"What do you mean so what?"you nearly yelled at him. "Couldn't you just wait until tomorrow?"
"No, of course not. That's why I'm here."he shaked his head. "Are you going to come out or should I take you out of there?"
"Fine, I'm coming. But I swear to everything that's important to you, if my parents find out..."
"That's the fun part."he winked and moved closer to the window.
You put on your shorts and your shoes then looked out of the window again.
"How am I supposed to go...there?"you pointed at him.
"Just climb out of the window. It's not that big of a height honestly."
"What if I die?"you asked, but started to climb out anyways, as silently as you could.
"I'll catch you."he opened his arms, so when you landed in front of him, nearly dropping to the ground, he actually caught you as he promised.
"What a hero."you poked his chest then you got out of the capture of his arms, trying your best to hide your burning face and smile.
You two walked side by side until you reached the corner of the forest in your town. It wasn't that big but with its darkness and the strange sounds, coming from between the bushes scared you enough to hide behind Intak's back.
"Hwang Intak, are you planning to kill me?"your voice became a slightly bit high-pitched. You examined his face expressions as if you could tell if he brought you here to end your life or not.
He finally threw an adorable smile.
"If I wanted to, you would be dead by now."he laughed.
"Is it in the forest?"you asked.
"No, but there's only one way to get there."
"Are you sure about that?"your eyes widened as you saw the trees move along with the light breeze that caught you too.
"Come on, please! It's worth it, I promise!"his gaze wouldn't let you go as he was looking at you with those big, puppy eyes that could melt the whole entire universe, even you.
"Fine..."
He smiled at you happily, then reached out to you with his hand.
"To make sure you don't get lost."
You nodded and held his hand immediately. Your were too afraid of all those things happening in the dark, to not hold it.
He walked you through the forest safely and after twenty minutes of stumbling and suffering you reached the top of a huge rock. You saw your whole town.
Everything was quiet and peaceful down there, only a few cars appeared as the moonlight started to dance on them, but soon they got out of your sight.
"This is beautiful."your amazed gaze met Intak's eyes.
"I know."he nodded.
"Why did you bring me here?"
"I told you, I wanted to show this to you."he smiled softly. "I haven't showed it to anyone else before."he added.
You two sat down on the ground next to each other and started to search for figures on the dark sky, connecting the stars together. You suddenly felt like you were on a date but you didn't mention it to Intak because you were afraid that you would ruin the moment.
After a while he noticed that you were a little bit cold so he placed his jacket on your shoulders then started to gently rub your back.
"Should we go home? I don't want your parents to get mad. And I don't want you to freeze here."
"Yeah, we should. Just not yet."you sat even closer to him.
You never wanted that moment to end.

Recruit - An Infinite Labyrinth prequel
A prequel to The Infinite Labyrinth. The year is 1816. The British Empire is in full swing, under the auspices of King George III. The Infinite Labyrinth has been pouring out its product from beyond our reality and fostered a new industrial revolution. Times are changing, and the people of London are feeling the winds of the revolution while British Professionals push into the Labyrinth. The newly formed Artefact Hunting Company is looking for recruits, and they have new technology to help them. From the slums of London, they aim to recruit a new wave of Professionals. And make Zacharias and the Earl of Carnavon lots of money. So, for Rowan Rivers and a handful of lucky ones, it's time to head into the Labyrinth, and discover what makes it different from England. And what makes THEM different? Recruit is a bunch of chapters I wrote to create to the setting, mood, and game systems of the Infinite Labyrinth. It is NOT a complete story in the classic sense. It's more of a slice of life view of early days of a normal Professional from the Infinite Labyrinth, and it's heavy on info-dump. It's 90% canon - there's probably a bit of a difference between how some characters and common behaviour are portrayed here and how they'll come out in the main story. Set two years before the events that kick-start the main series, it features some of the secondary/peripheral characters of the Infinite Labyrinth and will tell you all about the basic mechanics of the Labyrinth's RPG system. It can be considered a spoiler, as the characters in the Infinite Labyrinth are going to need to figure out all that, on their own. But if you like a much deeper exposition in the mechanics, here it is. The entire prequel is about 80 pages long.
