《Backwards rollercoaster || Mairimashita! iruma-kun》Chapter eight: involvement

Iruma continuously muttered upon himself as he felt his hand being dragged forward by a claw grip of the fluffy bird flying in front of him. He's quite thankful the other students had attended another ceremony, therefore the hall isn't too crowded, not many witnesses to see Kalego's vulnerable appearance.

He's sure he's close to being dead than he will ever be by then. He stared at the floating familiar ahead of him, even as a bird, Iruma can see an imaginary vein popping out on its forehead.

"Keep the questions to yourself." The bird- or rather, Kalego spoke in a heavily aggravated tone. It seems he had read Iruma's mind like a see-through glass.

Iruma yelped inside, a sweatdropped and rolled down his cheeks, dripping down onto the hem of his shirt. He hadn't felt this much venom in a while, he's not surprised either, only Kalego can maintain such distrust anger.

'God, what is it that he wants?!' He questioned deeply inside his head in frustration, oozing a low yet shaky groan. It barely managed to get past his lips, but it did anyway.

Kalego had noticed his struggle and choose to ignore anything from him. Probably the best choice, Iruma doesn't want attention in this current time.

They've arrived shortly after, an unseen shockwave opened the grand door to the principal's office harshly, Kalego didn't bother emitting his irritation form on the impact of his power.

'Aggressive... Considering his situation, I think it's reasonable?' Iruma thought nervously, would he b in trouble? Last time, his grandpa brushed it off as the situation is unavoidable. But this time, Kalego looks different, too much that it should be hidden.

"Iruma-kun, what brings you here?" A happy voice resounding the room, a bright and pure atmosphere ate Kalego's dark ones easily. Sullivan gripped his pen tightly, a shine slashed through his glasses as he struggles to stay seated while his grandson came to greet him personally.

Though that happy face fell, a suspicious and wary expression replaced the vacant seat. Iruma had never soon his grandpa so disturbed before as if he had seen something that's wrong.

'I suppose it is wrong for a demon to have angel wings.' He thought dryly, a strand of his blue hair fell in front of his sapphire eyes, he stroked it off with a huff.

"You... Kalego-kun, what is the meaning of this?" Sullivan spoke out in an almost cruel tone behind the gentle volume of his voice. Iruma fears the quill might break from Sullivan gripping it too hard.

Kalego probably noticed it too, Iruma can feel an aura of fear radiating from the bird. Nevertheless, he stood tall and proud, continuing his business.

"I wouldn't be here if I had known the cause. I've been calculating along the way, wouldn't it be better to be solved if we cancel the contract?" Kalego pleads, he was wishing that it's possible to end his blatant misery.

He knows about the one-year contract rule, he's a teacher, of course, he will at least know something this simple. He also had learned the consequences and what comes into the deal of a familiar contract. He never really minded it, until he becomes one.

He contends inside that maybe Sullivan might know an escape out of this, he hopes that carefree principal does.

Iruma hummed in agreement, it's the same question as last time. Though he wonders why Kalego hadn't minded his odd appearance, has he perhaps not seen himself as a whole?

'Oh yeah, Kalego-sensei probably hadn't taken a good look on himself considering we raged out of the room in panic and hurry.' That would have explained more on Kalego's ridiculously calm demeanour.

Yes, in Kalego's anger meter, this is considered calm.

Sullivan turned to look at Iruma, his eyes relaxing, soft and cuddly. Iruma felt his cheeks warming up, his grandpa had always started at him so lovingly, never he had thought he would receive such a proper parent.

He forgot about Kalego for a split second. Apologies.

"Iruma-kun, Kalego-kun, both of you know that this contract cannot be cancelled unless one of you die, right? It is very much impossible." Sullivan cooed like a singing bird, his eyebrows relaxed as he teased Kalego moe about the fact.

"But this...!"

"Yes, I see that this is indeed a problem." Sullivan cut Kalego off before the teacher could rant any further into the status of his wellbeing. His grandpa's wrinkly hand signalled Kalego from spewing another sound. Kalego shuts himself up.

Sullivan brought his fingers to his chin, rubbing it slowly with a pondering look, "How did you even turn into this?"

Kalego gave him a questioning look as if it hadn't been so obvious that even he doesn't know.

"Iruma did you associated with an angel?"

"?!" Kalego gave Iruma his wide-eyed and taking mouth look, he noticed the mood of the conversation and hurriedly look at himself in the mirror. A proud halo floating above his fur, pair of elegant angel wings flapping behind him even if it's tiny.

His pecker opened up, holding back a discouraging scream. Why hadn't thing gone the way he intended to be since that child came into the Academy?!

Iruma shook his head, it's true, he hadn't met any angel that he knows of, surely God is a whole another entity right? "No, grandpa."

Sullivan entered his thinking session once again, he stares at Iruma. It may look like a normal curious stare, but Iruma knows his grandpa long enough to notice the difference.

His grandpa wasn't simply starting of curiosity, he was scanning Iruma, perhaps searching for any sign of magic laid upon him from other students.

"Not a single trace..." Sullivan finally broke the suffocating pregnant silence, he placed his quill down, a bottle of ink placed aside neatly on the table.

Not a single trace of magic, and if there had been at holy power from the angels above, Sullivan could have detected it right away.

'Right... Not an angel.' But God himself.

Sullivan's eyes behind the thick layers of glasses sharpened, he silently nodded at his internal decision on pressing the matter further later on. For now, he'll just let his grandson enjoy the school life of the youths.

He needs to make sure Iruma is as comfortable as he can get! He'll call Opera for this, informing the faculties won't do any good, unnecessary panics would cause further problems. He'll investigate this matter later on, on his own.

"I'll look more into this matter, for now, can you please change Kalego-kun back to his former state?" His grandpa stood up, clasping his hands together sweetly as he stared at Iruma.

Iruma snapped his fingers, a rush of smoke surrounds the tiny body of Kalego, mist bursts, covering the room slowly. Like what has happened before, as soon as the smoke fades away, the tall and intimidating figure of Kalego came back in action.

The teacher crossed his arm as he taps on his bicep angrily, scowling at Iruma. He's unsatisfied with the situation, the look on his face says it all.

'Please don't blame me.' Iruma thought he wouldn't have done that if he was given a choice.

"You are both dismissed, " Sullivan sang along, cheeks tinted pink in awe and proudness, "Oh, and Iruma-kun, please do not address this matter to anyone yet, would you?"

"Yes, grandpa," he answered hastily, arms behind his back like a child that's being scolded for doing what's wrong.

"You, don't you dare tell anyone about this," Kalego added besides him, cold eyes not leaving him even for a second. This is close to tormenting him.

Iruma nodded softly in response.

'Being told once is enough.' Iruma thought eagerly.

They exited the room in a foul mood and gloomy atmosphere after, along the way back to the main hall, not one of them spoke a word, unnecessary things are better left unsaid.

Reaching the main room, students muttering and talking amongst themselves, a fun experience. Once the two figures entered the room, all eyes were on them.

He had forgotten Kalego has thrown them out of the room recklessly without an ounce of explanation. They must've been discussing false and misunderstood things with their friends.

"Irumacchi!"

His blue ahoge flicked, eyes widening in response to the call. Iruma turned around, he can see Clara running towards him with a stretched smile, and behind her- Asmodeus, he's also coming towards Iruma.

"Valac!" He shouted happily, but he stopped dead in his tracks as he saw Clara did the same. It took him a good couple of seconds to notice he had called Clara by- oops, he hadn't meant to call her by the given name.

It was merely a habit, since he did enter his evil cycle many times when he took the throne of the underworld as his own. It was the ring's fault, but sometimes Iruma admits it does help him in a lot of situations.

"Uh- I mean Clara-san! How are you?" Iruma quickly corrects himself, the green-haired girl seems again at the mention of her name.

"Irumacchi, Irumacchi! Are you okay?"

Iruma yelped as Clara hopped and hugged his waist tight from his side, she pats his hips to sign her comfort and also trying to make Iruma feel better in her unique ways.

"Oi- you, don't invade people's privacy like that!" Asmodeus voiced out, the collar of Clara's uniform pulled back as the girl falls behind, following the pull.

She fell with a thud, a small 'ouch' escaped her lips, tiny hands rubbing her back from the impact of the fall.

"It's okay, I don't mind. What are you doing here Asmodeus-kun?" he flashes his smile to the pink-haired demon, wondering why Asmodeus is taking the will to defend Iruma's privacy.

He had almost laughed usually as he would back in his world, rather than this alternate universe. He almost forgot that Asmodeus doesn't see him as a friend in this world, or what he would assume as.

"I- I'm not doing anything, every student is here for the class selection." Asmodeus spoke.

'Abnormal!'

"Ah yes, the class selection. I hope we all be in the same class together!" He had missed his loyal classmates, they are his closest aides when he received the bestow of the crown.

He just can't wait.

"Why do you insist so? I suppose if you say it like that... But it's up to the teachers." The pink-haired demon murmured, almost unheard.

"Tch, brats." Kalego clicked his tongue, arms still folded on himself, he started at the interaction between his students. Young people are always so meddling and hopeful, it's a pain to watch them.

The teacher left them without a single sound from his shoes. He has his matters to attend to, dealing with the blue-haired boy had given him more headaches than he had in his entire life of paperwork.

"Fellow demons! The class selection has been decided! The announcement shall be revealed tomorrow, don't be late!"

'Waah... They delayed it?' Iruma pouted, he wanted to get inside his class as soon as possible. The class he had missed, even though it may be smelly and cold, it's still his class before the Royal One.

But patience is a virtue, for now, he must simply go home and maybe catch some Zs. His shoulders feel heavy from the events that had happened today. Safe to say it's worse than last time with His intervention.

'I'm tired enough as it is today, let's just go home.'

And of course, the school anthem played again before all students were sent home.
