~One year later ~
"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Alfred and Mathewwwwwww.... happy birthday to you!!!!!!
.
.
.
.
And many more!!!!" Francis and I cheered.
"God, you both are crazy! You both decide to get married, and now you want to act up!" Alfred shook his head. I had put kids' party hats on their heads, and they were so embarrassed. "Awww, happy 17th birthday, boys! We are so happy to have met both of you! And nearly a year since we started to foster the two of you! You both have come a long way," Francis smiled.
"Hey, you should be happy! This is what you wanted" I laughed. Francis and I decided to officially get married not too long ago. Maybe about a week ago, and then we told the boys. They were very happy about it, almost as happy as the time we told them we were actually together. I guess there was a bet going on and Matthew had to pay Alfred five dollars. It was a hilarious scene.
Francis began to cut the cake and give everyone a slice of cake. "We are very proud of you two! And now you will be seniors! You've come a long way" I smiled at them. They weren't officially our sons, but they sure did feel like it.
"Alright! I can't wait any longer! Arthur, can we give them their gifts?" Francis spoke. I began to laugh and shake my head. "At least wait for cake," I smiled. The boys looked at me and began to smile. "I'm sure opening one before the cake isn't that bad," Matthew spoke.
"Hmmm.... alright then! Francis, let's get it!" I shouted. He nodded, and Alfred and Matthew began to move the cake aside. I followed Francis into the other room, and we didn't say much to each other besides eye contact. We both knew which one we wanted to give them. We had placed the gift in a nice blue bag that had the number 17 on it.

Francis carried the bag with the item inside it and walked back to the kitchen. "It's for both of us?" Alfred asked, confused. I nodded, and Francis placed the bag in front of them. They both started to take out the paper and took out a folder. "What is it?" Matthew asked. "I bet it's money!" Alfred cheered.
I laughed at their reaction, and Alfred quickly opened up the folder. It took a second for them to look at it, but soon enough, Matthew looked at us with tears. "What?" Alfred said, shocked. He covered his mouth, and soon enough, tears started to fall down his cheeks.
"We figured that making it official on your birthday would be a good gift," Francis started. Matthew quickly stood up and threw himself into Francis's arms. While Alfred slowed, walked over to me, and hugged me. "I love you, dad!" Alfred yelled. I began to choke back my tears to keep smiling for them.
We had officially adopted them, meaning they were officially our sons. We all began to hug together, and I didn't want this moment to end. Our big happy family was perfect in many ways. "We love you," I whispered. I had never been so happy in my life; I didn't want this to end.

Blair Nys: Blood and Benevolence
Blair is a young man and even of royal heritage. As such his life has followed a strict plan since birth. Only for it to suddenly, in the time span of a finger snipping, change. Connections to another world opened up. Humans with powers made of the wildest imaginations, stepped out of them, calling themselves cultivators. Naturally, earth’s population went into an uproar. One piece of information created an especially great stir. The cultivators were there to pick disciples. Millions rushed to them, and Blair wanted to be one of them. There was just one problem. His lord father was strictly against interaction with those magical beings. He always dreaded a foreign power gaining influence in his court. Well, the old man never changes, and now it was the same as ever. His sister wasn´t even allowed to study abroad. However, all his senses told Blair that the future lay in the cultivator's hands. His plan was to gain knowledge, power, and maybe influence. Then he would return. One night he simply vanished in the darkness, away from his father’s claws. Will he succeed? That is hard to tell. The immortal world is an unforgiving place, even worse than earth. It’s just that Blair doesn’t know that yet. Can he survive there, and gain a footing in the new era of qi and godly hermits? Only time will tell, and Blair has to fight for every minute. Authors note: Give the story a try. It’s my personal blend of qi, cultivation, and struggles of morality and power. If I can deliver on all that is another question, but I will give it my best. As a further note, I am not using any of the usual strict realms and extreme power differences. It’s more about gathering and refining qi. Whoever uses his chances, sneak attacks, intuitions, and skills in a better way wins. However, having more or better qi will help, but I am not at a point where I have written a lot of that, so I might promise too much. Thanks for reading so far and checking my synopsis out, now you might give the story a try. Have fun. The picture is from JCK5D (Pixabay)

Hello potential readers, I hope you will enjoy this story. This story focus on Alicia Berg, a young woman with big ambitions of taking virtual reality by storm. This option is less than ideal for our protagonist who aspire to become a virtual reality football coach. Follow her journey through a brave new world fraught with strangeness to find the purpose she craves. Note: This is a slice of life/drama/comedy kind of story. Slow pace with an emphasis on characters. Warning: Bad language (if you consider swearing bad because Alicia sure doesn’t).
