《Ancient God (Ancient Love Poetry)》Chapter 39: Departure

(Part 1)
The voice was clear and pleasant, as well as a bit satisfying. The person who said it was smiling, but the person who was listening was stiff.
Hou Chi raised her head, slightly rolled her eyes, and immediately sat up straight. She stared at Qing Mu without blinking as she pointed to the egg. Her gaze was electric and she said, "What's the matter? Can you explain this to me?"
The momentum was suddenly fierce that Qing Mu was taken aback. She didn't remember anything of the sort, could it be Qing Mu...?
"What are you thinking!" Seeing Hou Chi's expression that was about to explode, Qing Mu's voice was full of helplessness. He held the egg in his hand closer and said, "When I was on Qinglong Platform, the power of the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder was too great, so I used the Taicang Spear to separate a part of it. At first, this power was only stained with my blood, and then somehow sucked your blood that was left outside the thunder curtain. After finishing the tribulation, I discovered that it had become this."
Qing Mu handed the egg to Hou Chi and pointed, "Look, there is the light of thunder and lightning, isn't there?"
Hou Chi took a closer look. She saw that there was a layer of faint blue thunder and lightning covering the gold and silver. There was also a layer of ancient patterning inside, making it truly magnificent. Only then did she look relieved. She took the egg from Qing Mu's hand and felt it with her spiritual sense. She was slightly taken aback when she realized that there was vitality inside it, and said, "Then what exactly is this thing, how can it generate vitality?"
She casually threw it up and down as she talked. Qing Mu's face paled. He was tense, fearing that it would accidentally slide out of Hou Chi's hand.
"I'm not sure. It should be our blood that created this change." Qing Mu said casually, turning his head to the forgotten God Gu Jun outside the fence and said, "Hou Chi, what's going on here?"
Gu Jun concentrated his attention, looked at the egg in Hou Chi's hand for quite a long time, then faking stroked his beard and said, "The Nine Heavens Profound Thunder is the most powerful spiritual thing created from heaven and earth. Their origin comes from chaos. If you force them to merge together, weka spiritual intelligence will naturally be produced, and a protective shell will form. As for it absorbing your blood...it should be that the spiritual thunder and lightning just condensed and formed and lacked nutrients."
"So you're saying that this thing will come out of the shell in the future?" Hou Chi asked God Gu Jun and glanced at it casually.
Seeing that his darling daughter's expression eased, God Gu Jun was secretly delighted and he hurriedly said, "Naturally. I think that hundreds of years from now, this egg with have some movement."
Upon hearing this, Hou Chi's hand that was tossing the egg obviously halted and she moved it more carefully, "If this is the case, then I shall reluctantly raise it. In the future, it may be more useful than Da Hei. Feng Ran, go back to Qingchi Palace to check what this heaven and earth-born spiritual being likes to eat so I can prepare earlier."
Her voice was full of entanglement, but her eagerness could be heard by everyone. Qing Mu raised his eyebrows with his hands behind his back, starting to regret taking the egg out so early. To him, who had just proposed, Hou Chi obviously was paying more attention to this strange egg.

Feng Ran curled her lips, lazily leaned against the bamboo stem behind her, and said, "What is there to be anxious about? There are still a few hundred years. It's not too late to check after Qing Mu returns from the barrier between the Immortal and Demon Realms."
"No need to check. It can be taken care of with spiritual power. When the time is right, it will break out of the shell.." Gu Jun touched his nose and looked at Hou Chi with wide-open eyes, "Daughter, don't you think I'm useful too? Maybe you can keep me here too."
"What? Are you not going to travel in the Mortal Realm?" Hou Chi glanced at him coolly, her expression stern.
"Not going, not going, I still need to stay with my daughter!"
"You're not going to the Wildlands? Not wandering around the ancient ruins?"
Every time Hou Chi said a sentence, God Gu Jun's eyebrows trembled. After he finished speaking, he said to Hou Chi, "Daughter, you're really a god, how do you know everything?"
Hou Chi snorted. It wasn't that she hadn't tried to find traces of God Gu Jun over the years, but it was often that when she just found some minor clues, this old man had already run far away...
"I'm not going anywhere. I'll just stay here, waiting for my little golden grandson to be born." God Gu Jun winked at Qing Mu with a smile and said.
Hou Chi's hand holding the egg stiffened, and she coughed embarrassingly. She immediately got up and walked into the wooden house, muttering, "Up to you."
The cyan figure walked fast, but everyone saw that the back of the ear gradually turned red. Qing Mu bowed towards God Gu Jun, smiled helplessly, and hurriedly followed.
Gu Jun jumped down from the fence and looked at the two red and cyan figures. His eyes slightly narrowed, and he frowned.
It's no wonder that Qing Mu wasn't promoted to a god after experiencing eighty-one strikes of the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder. It seemed that at least half of the power of the thunder and lightning entered the egg, and the day the egg breaks will be the day Qing Mu becomes a god.
He didn't say just now that using spiritual power to take care of the egg could make it grow, but it can't break the shell, unless...
Even if he possesses the power of the Three Realms, he can't predict future calamity a hundred years from now.
Feng Ran, who was leaning against the bamboo, casually turned her head, and inadvertently saw the worry flashing through God Gu Jun's eyes. Her expression paused, and she suddenly felt a little unease in her heart. She raised her eyes again and saw the little old man outside the fence looking awkward, trying to pull the fence to rush inside. She smiled helplessly. There were too many incidents that had happened on the secret path, and he had hit evil himself.
Night.
After arguing with Qing Mu for a long time, they finally reached a friendly agreement of Hou Chi raising the egg for five days in a row, then Qing Mu raising the egg for two days in a row. The two analyzed in the room for a while before Hou Chi carefully injected spiritual power into the egg. Seeing that there was no change after observing for a while, she curled her lips, threw the egg into Qing Mu's hand, and walked out for a stroll.
Yes, the old man said that it would take hundreds of years for it to break out of the shell. Ghosts would appear if it broke out now.

After she walked out of the wooden house, when Hou Chi saw God Gu Jun, who was already mingling with Da Hei and playing tricks on the ground, she slowly stepped forward. Looking down on him condescendingly, with her hands behind her back, her eyes slowly narrowed, and she said, "Old man, let's talk."
Raising her eyes and seeing Hou Chi's straight face, God Gu Jun's heart suddenly jumped. He got up quickly and said with a smile, "Daughter, what's the matter?"
Hou Chi hooked her fingers towards him and walked outside the fence. God Gu Jun cautiously followed behind her and looked at her expression from time to time.
"Old man, why do you want Qing Mu to go to the Qingtian Pillar for a hundred years? Don't tell me it's to temper him. This reason is to deceive the Heavenly Emperor and Heavenly Empress, it's useless towards me!"
A hundred meters from the wooden house, Hou Chi stopped in the depths of the bamboo forest, turned around, and saw a few lights in the wooden house from a distance. She complicatedly retracted her gaze again and looked at God Gu Jun scorchingly.
The laughter on God Gu Jun's face was slowly put away. Seeing Hou Chi's stern face, he said after a while, "Daughter, do you know what thunder tribulation Qing Mu suffered on Qinglong Platform?"
(Part 2)
"Eighty-one strikes of the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder. As far as I know, it only takes thirty-six strikes for one to be promoted to a god since ancient times. How could Qing Mu..." Hearing about the thunder tribulation brought up by God Gu Jun, Hou Chi asked with a touch of doubt in her eyes.
"The more strikes of thunder you experience during your god promotion, the higher your status will be in the future. In the ancient world, there were only four true gods who suffered eighty-one strikes of the thunder tribulation. Qing Mu is the fifth in history." God Gu Jun touched his beard, a faint recollection and melancholy appearing in his eyes.
Hou Chi was surprised by these words. If this was the case, wouldn't Qing Mu become...But right now, he clearly wasn't even a god, right?
Seeing the clear doubt in Hou Chi's eyes, God Gu Jun hesitated for a moment before saying, "When he was undergoing the tribulation, Qing Mu separated the power and formed the egg..." Gu Jun pointed to the wooden house, then said, "So he didn't get promoted immediately. However, the spiritual power gathered inside his body is no weaker than a god. I predict that in a hundred years at most, he will be promoted to high god using his own ability."
"Okay, he'll be promoted. What does this have to do with you sending him there?" Hou Chi said with puzzlement.
"Hou Chi, I'm doing this because I'm not sure whether he'll be the fifth god of the Three Realms in a hundred years...or the first true god of the post-ancient world."
God Gu Jun's voice wasn't loud, but Hou Chi was suddenly shocked. True God...Qing Mu?
"Daughter, although a god is above all immortals, he or she is still in the Three Realms, and can't escape this world. But a true god...possesses the power of the sky, and will take the world as their responsibility, so it will be difficult for them to pay attention to the people at their side. At that time, Qing Mu won't be a good match, and I cannot take the risk."
Hou Chi frowned. Her eyes slightly closed, and the corners of her eyebrows lightly trembled. She knew that God Gu Jun was right, and that he even put it lightly.
A true god was above the world. Even a god was just an ant in his or her eyes. The day Qing Mu becomes a true god may be the day they separate forever.
The bottom of her heart was slightly cold, but a red and stubborn figure on Qinglong Platform suddenly appeared in her mind. Hou Chi's tightened hand gradually loosened. She opened her eyes again and looked at God Gu Jun, her eyes full of trust and determination.
"Old man, Qing Mu won't. Whether he is a god or true god, it doesn't matter, I believe in him."
The bottom of Hou Chi's eyes were as bright as the sun's flames. God Gu Jun slightly froze, and his rickety figure straightened tremendously. He suppressed the deep sigh in his eyes and slowly said, "Hou Chi, it's good as long as you believe it. A month later, he will go to the Qingtian Pillar and guard for a hundred years. If everything goes well after a hundred years, I will allow you two to marry."
Qing Mu inherited the Taicang Spear, attracted the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder, and also that black dog that ate scorching immortal rocks, everything pointed towards one possibility, but...Since Hou Chi was willing to believe it, it didn't matter if he needed to wait a hundred years.
Hou Chi nodded, her cyan robe dancing under the moonlight, faintly outlining a silver stream, which was almost the same silver as the light on the egg.
God Gu Jun looked at the silver light, his expression dim. He was secretly concentrating, but inadvertently head his daughter beside him gently ask, "Old man, one person can't create me, right? Who is my mother!"
God Gu Jun's expression stiffened. He yawned as if he hadn't heard and muttered, "Hey, when people get old, they are useless. I only stood for a while and my back hurts. I have to rest now."
As soon as the voice fell, a gust of wind blew, and the figure disappeared into the depths of the bamboo forest.
Hou Chi looked amused. She raised her eyebrows, and the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.
It didn't matter at all whether she knew who her mother was. The person who accompanied her for tens of thousands of years while she was inside the shell was her God Father. The person who accompanied her as she grew up was Bo Xuan. During the tens thousand years of loneliness in Qingchi Palace, she had Feng Ran. And now it was Qing Mu who was drawing out the future with her...
She lacked no one in her life. With them, she had enough.
Half a month passed in a flash. Da Hei got used to lying on the grass with the shriveled little old man to bask in the sun. Feng Ran went back and forth between Qingchi Palace and Liaowang Mountain, cleaning up the big mess that God Gu Jun created after his appearance. Hou Chi wandered around the yard with the egg all day long, hoping to see it grow bigger soon. Qing Mu took advantage of the space to build a few more wooden houses and worked even harder after receiving praise from God Gu Jun.
It was plain but peaceful. As everyone was immersed in this leisurely life, Feng Ran, who had returned from outside, as usual, brought back news that broke the silence.
"Feng Ran, what did you say?"
In the yard, Hou Chi, who was sitting on a recliner, suddenly got up. She held the egg with slight force as if she couldn't believe it.
"Hou Chi, the old Dragon King of the North Sea sent a message yesterday, saying that the matter Qing Mu entrusted to him has a path. Half a month ago, a weird cave thousands of kilometers long appeared in the North Sea. They tried several times but couldn't enter. He thought that it might have something to do with the person we're looking for, so he sent the news to Qingchi Palace."
Half a month ago was exactly when Qing Mu was experiencing the Nine Heavens Profound Thunder. At that time, the entire world was tumbling, and it wasn't surprising that buried things were appearing. That might not be Bo Xuan. The old Dragon King might not be sure, but its existence was a disaster for the North Sea. Now that her God Father has appeared, the person probably wants to borrow her God Father's power. After thinking for a while, Hou Chi felt that the old Dragon King was knowledgeable and wouldn't lie. Thinking that this sounded right, after such repetition, she felt a little restless.
The egg in her hand was gently picked up, and the young man who suddenly appeared patted her shoulder with a warm expression, "Don't worry, I'll go with you to take a look."
Hearing Qing Mu's voice, Hou Chi suddenly settled down. She nodded, and beckoned to God Gu Jun, "Old man, go get dressed up, we're going far away."
The voice was filled with vitality, and Feng Ran and Qing Mu were relieved.
Seeing that Qing Mu's single sentence had comforted Hou Chi, God Gu Jun puckered his lips, poked Da Hei beside him, and yelled, "Da Hei, I'm leaving, remember to guard your house well!"
The round eyes looked at God Gu Jun with disdain. Da Hei snorted. His tail moved, and he lay down again.
After a while, the four of them were ready and flew towards the North Sea on their clouds.
On the cloud, Hou Chi touched her sleeves, her face slightly changing, "What do I do? I left the egg at home."
"It's okay, I remembered." Qing Mu touched his waist. The egg appeared in his hand and was held in front of Hou Chi.
Hou Chi hurriedly took it, then raised her head again. Seeing Qing Mu who had turned around, she was about to tease his fatherly spirit but was stunned.
The young man's long black hair draped over his shoulders. When she hadn't noticed, a pure and almost invisible golden color was looming.
It was luxurious and magnificent, but...was distant and cold.
Hou Chi slowly closed her eyes. Qing Mu, a hundred years later, will you still be you?

Rule #2: Don't act like a cliche horror movie character. This is basically my very first attempt at creating a story beyond ten pages and I'm writing it for fun so please be gentle~ Mother World will contain some sci-fi, elements of fantasy, supernatural powers and of course some romance. When it comes to the romance it'll be gradual. The romance may or may not contain sex scenes as I'm not sure if ya'll would want my half baked attempts at tickling your fancy. The horror tag is there because I am a really big fan of horror games. I'll try not to be too excessively gory, however... there will be blood...
