《Ancient God (Ancient Love Poetry)》Chapter 10: Journey to Demon Realm

To prevent immortal aura from seeping out and causing preventable troubles, for a month, Qing Mu and Hou Chi chose to walk through the dense forest outside the Demon Realm. Although there were many monsters in the forest, most of them were frightened by Qing Mu's killing skills. Some of the larger monsters didn't care and tried to swallow the two. They dissipated under Qing Mu's spells, leaving nothing. The journey so far was quite calm.
Such decisiveness also made Hou Chi look at him with admiration. After all, immortals nowadays liked to talk about the Demon World to seem wise. Such a resolute style was rare to see.
However, although Qing Mu's method of getting out of the dense forest was a little dull, it had to be said that this straight walk also allowed the two to finally reach the border of this dense forest a month later.
After they walked out of the dense forest, the huge seal that stretched across the border of the dense forest slowly weakened, and even a large portion of the demon aura that covered the sky and ground dissipated. A deep purple moon hung in the air, giving the Demon Realm a darker and more mysterious look. The color also had a surging and emanating aura spreading across the entire Demon Realm.
Seeing this scene, Hou Chi slightly froze. Although she had already heard that the Demon Moon was different from the two other realms, she didn't know that there would be such a strong demon aura.
"What's wrong, little one? Dumbfounded?"
A soft laugh came from behind her. Hou Chi turned her head to see Qing Mu's mouth with a joking smile and moved her lips, "I heard that this Demon Moon is the entire Demon Realm's treasure. It is indeed a bit extraordinary."
"Naturally. Although the fighting power of the people of the Demon World is related to their personalities, the most important reason is this Demon Moon. The Demon Realm is divided into three heavens. The Purple Moon in the lowest heaven is the weakest. The middle one has medium power, and the Third Heaven is closest to the Demon Moon and the best place to cultivate. To prevent the different demon tribes from fighting, the Demon Emperor set the rule that only the top one hundred demon lords can enter. Because of this rule, the people of the Demon World are very competitive. Even ordinary demon lord are stronger than the considerably stronger high lords in the Immortal Realm. Besides the immortal lords in the bigger sects, they're quite weaker than the demon tribes after they go through their tribulations. The Immortal Realm also has the Heavenly Emperor and Heavenly Empress ruling the Nine Heavens. Otherwise, the Demon Realm would have already swept across the Three Realms and ruled the world."
Hearing Qing Mu's whispers, Hou Chi also nodded, but the small and delicate face some approval that does not correspond with her age, "The Demon Emperor made a smart move. As long as there is this system, the Demon World's combat power will always be at the very highest. Such continuous battles are better than any practice. It's just that this Demon Moon is too weird, and I wouldn't have thought that it had such a miraculous effect!"
"It is said that when the Three Realms was created, the Demon Realm did not have this Purple Moon. Only after the four true gods fell did this Purple Moon appear in the sky above the Demon Realm, and it never landed, being the protective amulet of the Demon Realm."

Qing Mu shrugged, and his plain expression also held a few sighs. Among the Three Realms, there were always some miracles that were related to the four true gods, such as the spiritual power-efficient Liaowang Mountain and this round purple moon...It was a pity they were born late to explore the ancient times when the gods descended.
Qing Mu's stunned expression made Hou Chi freeze for a moment. She raised her small hand and grabbed Qing Mu's collar, then shook it "Hey, stop staring into space. We're like this, shouldn't we do something first?"
The feeling of having your neck slammed was not so nice. Qing Mu squinted his eyes and lowered his head, but the anger in his eyes slowly disappeared when he saw the concern in the big dark eyes of the child he was holding in his arms. He froze and looked at them both who were embarrassed about their appearance because they had been on their journey for several days. He touched the little bun on the back of Hou Chi and said, "Why are you in a hurry? We will arrive at Lenggu City in a few hours. We'll just go change our clothing and accessories and be on our way."
Hou Chi patted his hand, curled her lips in disdain, and muttered, "Hopefully we'll follow this plan. If you get lost again, then don't blame me for being impolite to you."
Qing Mu rubbed his nose as he held the restless Hou Chi in his arms, and strode out of the dense forest.
The bright dark-purple moon was left behind by the two, shining a deep and mysterious light onto the land.
After four hours, outside the huge city, with one hand holding Qing Mu's neck and the other hand stroking her chin, Hou Chi's eyes showed a satisfied smile, and her voice carried traces of approval, "This bad you're doing quite well, you didn't disappoint me."
Qing Mu couldn't help but laugh at the old-fashioned look. He conjured a pitch-black robe and wrapped himself and Hou Chi in it, ordering, "The first and second heavens of the Demon Realm have three big cities standing there. The demon lords who have the position of the lord of the city are at the peak strength of the demon lords. Although they are not my opponents, don't be too careless. If you allow them to discover our traces, it would be very troublesome to forcibly run-up to each one.
With this wrap, Hou Chi was completely enveloped in the robe. Hou Chi nodded and shrank her entire body into the black robe. A crisp voice came from inside, "Don't worry, my tens of thousands of years of growth weren't for nothing."
The girl's voice carried some rebellious pride, and the corners of Qing Mu's mouth twitched one after another. He felt a little helpless because he asked Hou Chi to call him "Master" a month ago but this girl was mentioning her elderly status. But she was right, making it impossible for Qing Mu to argue back. He lightly sighed and tightened the warm and soft body in his arms. A cold and dangerous aura floated up from all over Qing Mu's body, and he strode towards Lenggu City.
The guard guarding the city saw a strange black-robed person in the distance but slowly retreated under the cold aura of the person who was coming. Without even asking, he welcomed him in with a respectful expression. He didn't dare offend this powerful demon. He thought that this evil aura-filled Qing Mu was a demon deity who was returning from practicing in the dense forest.

In Lenggu City, demons with human figures and beasts were everywhere. The wide streets of the city were lined with floor shops selling weapons and medicine. The yells of shopkeepers fought over one another. Although it looked lively, it was also very chaotic.
"The Immortal Realm was formed by the foundation of various sects, and there are many common immortal artifacts and medicines of the general sects, but the Demon Realm is composed of major cities. Demons are born with a savage nature and like to cultivate independently, so they need to find weapons and elixirs to help their tribulations, which is why the city is so chaotic." Perhaps he felt that the little head under the black robe kept turning, which is why Qing Mu explained in a low voice.
"Mhm, I've only seen this in books before. The Demon Realm and the Immortal Realm are really two grand places. It seems that the guard let you in because he was afraid of your strength, but you are an immortal, where did all that evil aura come from?" Hou Chi nodded her head and muttered softly, with unconcealed doubts in her voice.
This Qing Mu has too many secrets...
"Is it a lot?" Qing Mu rubbed his nose, saying, "I've had it ever since I killed a few nine-headed snakes near the Eastern Sea. There is a clothing store in front. Let's go choose some stuff."
Although Qing Mu could conjure robes at will, Hou Chi did not have enough energy to maintain her shape, and there was no extra spiritual power to waste, so they had to use the normal way to resolve Hou Chi's tattered clothing.
Seeing Qing Mu's blank expression, Hou Chi didn't ask anything and just curled her lips with an expression showing that she didn't believe him. A few monster snakes? Those were fierce beasts from the ancient times. Although they weren't smart, they also weren't things that a normal person could kill! Although this was what she was thinking, Hou Chi felt a little grateful inside. If she hadn't encountered such a powerful figure, she wouldn't dare run to the Demon Realm with her weak powers.
After all, although God Gu Jun's name was useful in front of the Demon Emperor, it was no use to the ordinary beings in the Demon Realm who weren't able to realize her identity. Who would believe that Goddess Hou Chi who deterred the immortals on Kunlun Mountain had such an unbearably weak appearance?
Inside the clothing shop, the trembling long-faced shopkeeper looked at the uninvited guest in a black robe in front of him. His eyes twitched and he finally managed to squeeze a flattering smile, and his voice was extremely cordial, "Mister demon lord, is there anything I can do for you?"
He naturally wasn't able to conclude how much power Qing Mu had, and the 'demon lord title couldn't be wrong.
"Go fetch some children's clothing."
He ordered this coldly. The voice coming from the black robe was hoarse and stern, shocking the shopkeeper. He hurriedly bowed and nodded and walked inside. Shortly, he carried out several sets of colorful robes.
The laid-out robes were either all wine red or black, which was in line with the aesthetics of the Demon World. He felt the child in his arms move unwillingly, and Qing Mu mouth curled into a satisfied smile. He threw a jade pendant and said, "I'll take all of them."
Qing Mu casually waved his hand and moved all the clothing on the cabinet into his sleeve. He turned to leave and the shopkeeper hurriedly took the jade pendant. His face was full of surprise when he saw it, and he was about to send them off when he heard a crisp hum underneath the black robes. The voice was very soft but was filled with elegance and arrogance. He suddenly stiffened, looked at the black-robed man who was walking away, and his face was suddenly filled with astonishment.
"Shopkeeper, what's the matter?" A young man at the side asked with surprise after seeing the refrained shopkeeper having on such a jaw-dropping expression.
"There seems to be some immortal aura on that person just now." The shopkeeper murmured.
"How could that be possible, shopkeeper, ever since the Demon Emperor strengthened the barrier five hundred years ago, it was even hard for the lords of the Immortal Realm to break in. And besides, that person was filled with hostility, there couldn't be this kind of high lord in the Immortal Realm."
"There should be another person in the robe..."
"What's so special about that, perhaps that demon lord caught a young spiritual beast with immortal aura and it hasn't transformed into a human yet..."
When the long-faced shopkeeper heard this, he felt that his thoughts were quite ridiculous. He sneered twice, touched his beard, and strode towards the back room holding the jade pendant.
"I've already told you to be more careful. If it wasn't because that person had low spiritual powers, you'll probably have been discovered. If you left my protective bubble, you wouldn't be able to hide with a body full of aura.
Hearing the lazy teasing outside, Hou Chi snorted fiercely, "I don't like the clothing. Why didn't you choose some light-colored ones?"
Qing Mu could guess that the little guy under the black robe had a face full of teeth and claws, and a dark smile appeared in his eyes, "I think they look pretty good. You have stayed in Qingchi Palace for a long time, and you should have changed your taste a long time ago."
"Nonsense!" A soft voice rang out, and a snow-white small fist flicked viciously out of the black robe.
Qing Mu hurriedly pushed Hou Chi's small first back in, sighed, and casually said a sentence, "I am telling the truth. I heard that Princess Jing Zhao of the Nine Heavens likes to dress up with green and red, and the group of female immortals follows her."
"Mhm, don't compare me to her, I won't be able to accept it." A cold voice sounded under the black robe, and then peace returned.
Qing Mu stiffened, remembered Hou Chi and Jing Zhao's past, and couldn't help but feel a little regretful. With these few days of interaction, he knew that even though Hou Chi was open-minded, she was quite concerned about the humiliation of God Gu Jun. She expressed, even more, dislike for the Heavenly Emperor's family after she became small.
The entanglement of tens of thousands of years seemed to have not completely disappeared. Qing Mu secretly sighed and lifted Hou Chi in his arms. He untied the top of the black robe and said lightly to the pair of big black eyes, "I'm sorry."
Cold-faced Hou Chi was also taken aback. Looking at the suddenly enlarged handsome face and the slightly regretful expression, she snorted uncomfortably, "Don't worry, I won't argue with you about it. Anyway, you are an underage little child."
With a few thousand years of age, he was indeed extremely young among the immortals. Qing Mu's face darkened and he suddenly dropped the black robe, then strode towards the city's exit without a word.
"Hehe". A crisp laugh came out of the black robe and accompanied the youth whose face was getting darker and darker.
A month and a half later, the two who had traveled thousands of miles stood close to the Third Heaven of the Demon Realm, and they breathed a sigh of relief. The difficult journey finally ended.
Only...
"Qing Mu, didn't you say that only the top 100 strongest demons can enter? What should we do now?"
Looking at the entrance to the Third Heaven of the Demon Realm not far away, which was surrounded by murderous soldiers of numerous demon clans, Hou Chi revealed a pair of triumphant eyes from the black robe and said with a chuckle.
Hearing Hou Chi's triumphant laughs, Qing Mu raised his eyebrows, and his face under the black robe showed some invisible pride, "How difficult can this be, I'll just fight my way in."
Hou Chi gave a faint hum, blinked her round eyes, and stared at Qing Mu, saying crisply, "I would rather you fight your way in, but...didn't you say to cover our traces?"
After rubbing Hou Chi's dark and soft hair that had a furry and fluffy touch and was very comfortable, a smile hung on the corner of Qing Mu's mouth, "The top 100 spots in the Demon Realm are not static. There are demons from the second heaven that fight every day, trying to get into the Third Heaven. Once they cross this heaven, their status in the Demon Realm will experience a drastic change. Under the temptation of power, many demon lords try to cross the Third Heaven. So the Demon Emperor set a law that at the entrance of the Third Heaven, there must be two demon deities ranked as one of the most powerful 100 taking turns every day. Whoever defeats a top 100 member will replace them as a demon lord and obtain the rights to cultivate in the Third Heaven."
"Oh, so that's what happens." Hou Chi nodded her head and shrank her head back into the black robe. She held Qing Mu's hand tightly and urged, "Then let's quickly go now. After you defeat the two demon lord guarding the entrance, we can enter the Third Heaven."
Qing Mu looked at the small head that was moving quicker than a rabbit, pinched the ball in his arms softly, and smiled bitterly, "Why, do you plan on having me hold you like this when I challenge them?"
"Stop pretending, you can come and go as you please in Liaowang Mountain. I don't think even Feng Ran is your opponent. It's just fighting against demon lords who are guarding the gate, how can it be difficult?"
A low sarcastic voice came out from his arms, and the small body that had shrunk into the black robe kept twisting as if she was trying to find a more comfortable position. Qing Mu's expression stiffened and he patted the lump. He sighed and said, "Got it."
"But, Hou Chi, are you sure that you aren't just being too lazy and are relying on me?" He suddenly remembered Hou Chi's lazy look when she was on the cloud that Feng Ran was driving, and thought about her feet rarely touching the ground these few months that they were in the Demon Realm. Qing Mu stopped abruptly and asked.
"Of course not. You also know that my body, which is full of spiritual aura, can be found even by ordinary demons. If I leave you, it definitely won't work out well."
There was a sound in the black robe of air flowing from swinging hands, and he heard the very crisp and childish voice inside. Qing Mu paused with a look of helplessness hung on his face. And he strode towards the entrance of the Third Heaven.
Who could tell him that this little child who was ordering him around like a donkey is Goddess Hou Chi, who has been famous throughout the Three Realms for thousands of years?
There was no mortality and righteousness, no arrogant immortal who specialized in whining and lying...The most important thing was to be respectful to the old!
He fiercely pressed the words to his mouth. Qing Mu exhaled a long breath, and rubbed the restless Hou Chi in his arms, and stopped at the evil aura-seeping entrance.
The Demon Realm was divided into three heavens, and each heaven entrance was guarded even more than the previous one, and this gate with deathly and purple light was just the case. In countless battles between the demon and immortal clans, even though the immortal clans always invaded the Demon Realm because of small advantages, they had never really fought into the Third Heaven.
According to legend, the purple moon appeared the day the barrier of the Third Heaven was completed. The entire Third Heaven was enwrapped in it since then, except for the Gate of Life and Death that towered above the clouds. There was also no entrance to enter. At that time, even Dong Hua, who had the peak strength of a high lord, could not forcibly break-in.
A deep purple flame slowly burned from the Gate of Life and Death that shot into the clouds, spreading into a large and gorgeous flame cloud, the heart of the red flame continuing spitting out fire. The magnificent purple light flashed in the air, glowing with mystery. The breath of life and death the door gave off was graceful and luxurious.
A hundred meters away from the Gate of Life and Death, one could feel an aura so hot that it would be able to burn the soul. The guarding demons, who were minotaurs, were both flushed. From just a look, it was clear that their strength was extraordinary.
Although it was not comparable to the majestic Nantian Gate, the Gate of Life and Death that protects the Demon Realm bore the frightening name in the Three Realms well.
"Who is this?" The buzzing voice came from the bull's head and was quite majestic and frightening.
Feeling the scorching breath, Qing Mu's face under the black robe remained unchanged.
"Challenger."
