《Ancient God (Ancient Love Poetry)》Chapter 6: Princess Jing Zhao

The immortal manor of Da'ze Mountain had already disappeared. With a confused face, Feng Ran was staring at Hou Chi, who was standing straight and had on a serious expression. She was about to open her mouth when she heard a "puff", and the person beside her slumped onto the cloud in a particularly sloppy posture. In a moment, Hou Chi's outfit changed back to her cloth robes and green hairpin. She was breathing heavily and her face was white, and all traces of her previous arrogant demeanor disappeared.
"Spit it out, what do you want to ask?" Hou Chi said as she stretched her waist lazily after seeing Feng Ran's curious expression.
"Hou Chi, just now...what exactly happened?"
Such behavior and manners required much more than just pretending. Even if Hou Chi could learn the calm and cold personality of God Gu Jun, she still would not be like that in front of a crowd of immortals. It was like...she had become another person in an instant.
"I'm not sure either. It should be because of this."
Hou Chi spread out her hand, and a bracelet strung with dark green stone beads reflected a dark color under the light. If one looked carefully, he would be able to see many words.
Hou Chi wore this bracelet for thousands of years. It was normally black and unnoticeable, and there didn't seem to be anything strange about it. This was the first time that Feng Ran had seen the bracelet turn into dark green.
"When I climbed up to the immortal residence, I overheard your conversation with Zi Yuan. The immortals were all in the hall, and Dong Hua was indebted to Jing Jian. Even if I am a goddess, you know that my reputation can't even compare to that of a high lord, and it wasn't an easy task to want to punish Zi Yuan."
Hou Chi held her chin with a lazy expression, "So I thought that I would transform into a more dignified appearance before going up. It at least would scare them. But who knew that it didn't work after trying so long. I was anxious, and accidentally put my immortal powers into the bracelet, and...I changed into the appearance you saw just now."
"Is it really so magical?" Seeing her carefree appearance, Feng Ran couldn't really apply "anxious" to her, and could only take the bracelet for careful analysis, looking at it suspiciously.
"It seems like there are words on it, but I can't see them clearly." Feng Ran muttered and put the bracelet back in Hou Chi's hand.
"I can't see them clearly either, but this object is really strange. It was given to me by Bo Xuan when I was enlightened. He said before that this bracelet is called...Dissolving Tribulations."
"Dissolving Tribulations? Such a strange name." Feng Ran said, but she did not notice the flash of blankness on Hou Chi's face when she said the name.
Generally, the immortal objects passed down from ancient times all had high spiritual powers, so it wasn't strange for them to have names.
"Hou Chi, perhaps this is a weapon from ancient times. You can use this to show your nobleness, so wear it with care." Thinking of Hou Chi's weak spiritual powers, Feng Ran could not help say this as she slipped it onto Hou Chi's wrist.
Show her nobleness? Hou Chi thought of the spiritual power released from the stone bracelet that had hit Zi Yuan. She pressed her lip shut and did not stop Feng Ran.

"Feng Ran, Bo Xuan hasn't come to Qingchi Palace in eight thousand years, right?"
"Yes, I haven't seen him in a long time." Feng Ran stroked her chin and smiled at Hou Chi with squinted eyes.
Bo Xuan was only inferior to God Gu Jun in Qingchi Palace. When she entered the palace, he had stayed in the palace to take care of Hou Chi. No one knew of his origin, and no one knew how powerful his spiritual powers were either. Even though they had never competed, Feng Ran knew that she was far from being Bo Xuan's opponent the moment she met him.
Regardless of how powerful his immortal power was, there was something on that person that could make someone's breath falter.
Eight thousand years ago when Hou Chi was enlightened and had turned into the form of a young girl, Bo Xuan had left Qingchi Palace and had never returned. It was also from that time that God Gu Jun's whereabouts often became erratic.
"Feng Ran, I'm not going back to Qingchi Palace. I'm going to Liaowang Mountain (Mount Lookout) first." Hou Chi said lightly as she rubbed the stone bracelet on her wrist.
"Huh, you're not going back to Qingchi Palace? Do you want to go look for Bo Xuan?" Although her tone carried hints of astonishment and suspicion, anyone could hear the excitement in Feng Ran's voice. Her duty was to stay in Qingchi Palace to protect Hou Chi. If Hou Chi did not leave Qingchi Palace, she would not take a single step out of Qingchi Palace. With her personality, these ten thousand years have bored her greatly.
"Yes, I want to ask him...about this stone bracelet."
Subconsciously, Hou Chi felt...Besides Bo Xuan, even God Gu Jun would probably not be able to give her an answer.
"Okay, you look anxious. Let's go now."
She heard Feng Ran's happy voice. The swift wind blew against her neck, messing up the hair falling down her shoulders.
Hou Chi lowered her gaze, and suddenly remembered the words Bo Xuan said before he left the palace, which made her expression slowly freeze.
Hou Chi, when you know the reason why I gave this stone bracelet to you, then that day will be the day we meet again.
Bo Xuan, you tell me, is it the time now?
Why did the Heavenly Empress hate her the moment she was born? Why did her God father not stay in Qingchi Palace after her enlightenment? Why was she the child of a god but didn't even have basic immortal powers?
Bo Xuan, will you answer all these questions?
On Da'ze Mountain.
The loud phoenix sound all over the sky surprised everyone. Seeing the woman who suddenly appeared in the hall, besides showing surprised expressions, the faces of the immortals didn't look so enthusiastic.
"I am so honored that Princess Jing Zhao has come to Da'ze Mountain." Dong Hua greeted her with a smile. He sighed in relief after seeing the person who had come and remembered Goddess Hou Chi, who had just left.
"Old High Lord shouldn't mind the customs. I am only a junior, so it is right for me to come to celebrate your birthday." This woman who said this was wearing a purple dress with wide sleeves. Her face was as graceful as a bright moon, and she had a tall figure. At first glance, she looked noble and unparalleled.
It was just that while she was saying these modest words, she had on an arrogant expression as she faced the immortals, and the golden ornaments on her head made crisp sounds when she slowly walked forward.

Jing Jian glanced at the immortals, whose expressions had slightly changed, and sighed inside. It took only a second for Jing Zhao to lose miserably.
In terms of dignity, she was far behind Hou Chi, who had just left.
"Old High Lord, fellow immortals, why are you guys all standing outside?" Jing Zhao said with a smile and walked towards Jing Jian.
Jing Jian saw the smile on Jing Zhao's face but knew what she was thinking inside. He was about to speak when he heard Lord Dong Hua's voice, which carried a hint of respectfulness.
"Today, Goddess Hou Chi came to Da'ze Mountain. This is my honor, and I have just led the immortals to welcome the Goddess, and we haven't gone back into the immortal residence."
Dong Hua said this happily, and a strange smile flashed across his eyes. But don't blame this old man for not being respectful. Princess Jing Zhao and Goddess Hou Chi had awkward identities, and even though his words were boring, the old man knew that if the Heavenly Emperor's family knew that Goddess Hou Chi, who had never left Qingchi Palace, had appeared in the Three Realms, what would they think?
But that was an entanglement of over ten thousand years ago...
Jing Jian seemed like he didn't expect that Lord Dong Hua would say it so bluntly. He looked at Jing Zhao anxiously, and her gentle face also carried a hint of anxiousness. His younger sister had never liked it when someone mentioned that person from Qingchi Palace. If she got angry on such an occasion, it would be bad if the word spread.
Jing Zhao's expression stiffened. Her arrogant steps suddenly stopped, and she turned around to look at Jing Jian. Seeing her older brother nod his head, she said with a smile after a bit of hesitation, "So it was Hou...Goddess Hou Chi who had come. I have never seen Goddess Hou Chi. Do you know where she is now?"
Everyone in the hall heard the firmness and stiffness in Jing Zhao's voice, and all shook their heads silently.
"Goddess just left with Lord Feng Ran. If your highness is willing, I would like you to enter my immortal mansion for a few glasses of wine, and you will be allowing this old man to show his best." Perhaps he knew that this made things difficult for the junior. Dong Hua said this with a big smile, but Zi Yuan, who was at the side, suddenly started to yell.
"Your highness Princess, please save me. I didn't mean to offend Goddess Hou Chi." Perhaps he saw some hope. Zi Yuan's voice was exceptionally loud, but he couldn't move his body because of the magic, and he looked at Jing Zhao with anxious and earnest eyes.
Jing Zhao glanced at Zi Yuan sharply and lowered her eyes. She concealed a trace of emotion, and her hands under the wide sleeves slightly tightened. She turned around and said to Lord Dong Hua, "Old High Lord, I'll pass the wine. Zi Yuan is a lord of the Heavenly Palace. What has he done to be treated in such a way?"
She turned around to look at Zi Yuan after she said this, looking calm and solemn, "Lord Zi Yuan. Just say what has happened and I will have my Heavenly father help you."
Dong Hua froze as if he could not believe that Jing Zhao dared to question a god's orders in front of a crowd of immortals. She even had the idea to use the name of the Heavenly Emperor, so he could only say plainly before Zi Yuan could cause trouble, "Princess Jing Zhao, Lord Zi Yuan has offended Goddess Hou Chi. All of the immortals saw it, and there is nothing wrong with this."
Hearing Lord Dong Hua's words, it seemed like she disagreed with the words, and Jing Zhao's eyes flashed with anger. The moment she was about to say something, someone pulled on her sleeve. She turned her head to see Jing Jian bow respectfully to Dong Hua, "Old High Lord, Jing Zhao is young and is behaving innocently. Old High Lord, please do not be offended."
Hou Chi's goddess identity was approved by the Three Realms, and even if his Heavenly father, Heavenly mother, and she worked together, questioning a god's order would equal to questioning the prestige of the four gods. Even if Jing Zhao was a princess, if Hou Chi wanted to pursue the matter, then his Heavenly father would have to punish.
Jing Zhao looked at Jing Jian with an aggrieved expression and felt Jing Jian's hand on her wrist tighten again, so she could only take two steps back silently.
Jing Zhao was the doted daughter of the Heavenly Emperor, and the immortals were not so stupid that they would offend her with a single sentence. They all stood up to leave, and even Dong Hua waved his hand to signal that nothing was wrong.
"Since this is the case, Lord Dong Hua, I will take Lord Zi Yuan back to ask for a punishment from my Heavenly father."
Jing Jian walked to Zi Yuan's side and stretched out his hand to undo the restriction spell on his body. As expected, nothing happened after a long time. He turned around and said to Dong Hua, "Old High Lord, Jing Jian has weak immortal powers, so I'll have to ask you for help."
He had on a calm expression and showed no embarrassment when he could not undo the restriction. It made Dong Hua feel better about him.
As a son of the Heavenly Emperor, it was very hard to be so calm and upright.
Hearing this, the immortals could not help but marvel at the scene. Jing Jian already had some of the strongest powers among the high lords, and they originally thought that Goddess Hou Chi only imposed an ordinary restriction on Zi Yuan. Now, it did not seem like it.
Dong Hua had already noticed it, and after hearing Jing Jian's plea, he hurriedly walked forward and grabbed Zi Yuan's wrist to take a look. He said after a moment, "This is really astonishing. This restriction was created by mortal cultivation. If one wants to undo the restriction on Lord Zi Yuan's body, they will be able to after the immortal power is dissolved."
Dong Hua's face looked surprised. He only noticed the immortals' unusual expression after he finished talking. Zi Yuan's face looked especially dark, and his eyes looked cracked. He could only rub his nose awkwardly and say, "Lord Zi Yuan, there is no need to worry. You do not need to dissolve all of your immortal power. You will be able to undo the spell after you dissolve half of your immortal power."
The immortals locked eyes with each other. The goddess really acted, unlike others. Although Goddess Hou Chi did not punish Lord Zi Yuan, this did count as destroying half of his immortal power. It seemed like it would be difficult for Zi Yuan to regain his position as high lord, and...the pain of dissolving immortal power was only a bit better than dissolving one's immortal roots. Thinking of Zi Yuan's bitterness towards Feng Ran, the immortals sighed. Goddess Hou Chi was a protective master.
Seeing Zi Yuan's body stiffen after he heard these words, Lord Dong Hua could only look towards Jing Jian. He and Zi Yuan were both high lords. If Zi Yuan was unwilling, he also did not want to waste his energy to be a villain for nothing.
"Second Brother, how about we invite First Brother over. Perhaps First Brother has a way..." Jing Zhao said to Jing Jian after scooting closer to him. Her expression was filled with hints of disbelief. It was only a restriction, how would he have to dissolve half of his immortal power? Lord Dong Hua was probably overreacting.
Although Jing Zhao's voice was soft, the immortals in the hall had good hearing, so they naturally were able to hear everything clearly and were anxious for a moment. Dong Hua was the most powerful high lord and his immortal power was unfathomable. If he wasn't able to undo it, would First Highness Jing Yang be able to?
Jing Jian frowned and glanced at Jing Zhao, a hint of warning flashing across his eyes. He turned around and bowed to Dong Hua, whose expression had not changed, "Old High Lord, please undo the restriction on Lord Zi Yuan's body."
If Dong Hua needed to dissolve half of Zi Yuan's immortal power to undo the spell, then no one would be able to besides the three gods of the Three Realms, but how would the noble Heavenly Emperor and Heavenly Empress offend Qingchi Palace for Zi Yuan. And besides, his Heavenly mother was Hou Chi's...
Hearing Jing Jian's sincere words, Dong Hua did not say much. He said "sorry to have offended you" to Zi Yuan and went forward to imprint the immortal formula on Zi Yuan's body.
A shrill scream suddenly sounded in the hall. Zi Yuan's face was pale, and beads of sweat as big as beans dripped down his forehead. But he could not move at all and could only endure it difficultly. After only a few seconds, his face was sallow, as if he was seriously ill. After a long time, his yelling stopped. Dong Hua walked forward and put a pill in Zi Yuan's mouth before undoing the restriction on Zi Yuan's body with a wave of his hand.
Zi Yuan had no more energy and collapsed on the ground. Wu Xu and Wu Wang, who came into the hall at an unknown time, hurriedly helped him up to behind Jing Jian.
"Much thanks to Lord Dong Hua for helping. Jing Jian bids farewell."
After Jing Jian bid farewell to Dong Hua, he dragged Jing Zhao with him and hurriedly got on a cloud and left. With their departure, the immortal residence completely regained its calmness. Dong Hua looked at the immortals, smiled, and said, "My immortal friends, thank you for coming to my banquet. The immortal dew in the mansion has not been used yet, everyone, please go in with me."
Although the immortal dew of Da'ze Mountain was not as well-known as Qingchi Palace's, it was also a good drink. The immortals set aside their doubts and walked towards the immortal mansion with smiles on their faces.
Dong Hua walked slowly behind them. Seeing that the left and right were clear of people and his master had on an unpredictable expression, Immortal Lord Xian Zhu could not help but ask, "Master, why are you so happy?"
"Nothing..." Lord Dong Hua waved his hand and said perfunctorily. Seeing his disciple's unconvinced face, he said with a smile, "I just never thought that the last god of the Three Realms would not only have the identity of a goddess, but also the reality of a god. But..."
"But what?" Xian Zhu asked as he hurriedly leaned in.
"Nothing." This time, Lord Dong Hua shut his mouth tightly and did not say more. He turned his head to glance at the sky and said inside, "This Princess Jing Zhao is very similar to the Heavenly Empress, but Goddess Hou Chi..."
