《Ancient God (Ancient Love Poetry)》Chapter 3: Competing

Mountains without edges, unite the sky and ground...and you said that you won't make things hard for me! The only being in the Three Realms that would be able to achieve this is the ancestral god himself!
Looking at the girl on the rock holding a fishing pole and staring into the water, Feng Ran, who was at a loss of words, had widened her phoenix eyes as she stared at her. Her red hair had started to move more vigorously with anger, and she took a step forward and sat cross-legged next to the girl. After a long moment of thinking, she said choppily, "Hou Chi, why not say an easier one...don't forget that when God Gu Jun came back to the palace last time, it was me who alerted you, or else the drama books from the Mortal Realm would have been discovered."
With a crisp "ding" sound, the fish hook drew a circle in the pond, creating ripples on the surface of the water.
"Feng Ran, this was so long ago. I've hidden so many things from Chang Que for you these ten thousand years, and have already paid you back." The young girl who was called Hou Chi didn't turn her head back and said as she looked at the floating fishing pole in her hand, "These fish have become smart. They still haven't taken the bait. This is so boring..."
When Feng Ran heard this, the corners of her mouth twitched separately. How could the fish in Huajing Pond be normal objects? Most of them have already turned into sprites. They were only helping you pass the time, which is why they haven't changed back to their human forms.
"Hou Chi...the fish in the Mortal Realm will take the bait." She had always been arrogant and domineering, but she was particularly patient with the person in front of her, and could only smile flatteringly.
"You want to go to Dong Hua's birthday banquet this badly?" She had never seen Feng Ran like this. There was some suspicion in Hou Chi's words. She turned around, looking at Feng Ran with her eyes raised.
The girl who looked back had a delicate face. She looked only fifteen or sixteen years old and a little like a child, which was exceptionally ordinary.
If she hadn't appeared in this blessed place, and the one in front of her was a high deity who was working for her, no one would have imagined that she was the famous Goddess Hou Chi of the Three Realms.
But when the pair of eyes looked at you, a feeling of a gap of white would wash over. If Feng Ran had not known her for thousands of years, she would be stunned as well.
When she first saw her, she was surprised as well, but later, she also understood that no matter how weak the little god's spiritual power was, she was a few ten thousand years old after breaking out of the shell, so she naturally couldn't compare to normal immortals.
Feng Ran knew that it was not easy for Hou Chi to grow up like this. When she entered the palace, Hou Chi was already the size of a ten-year-old mortal child, and she still hadn't turned into an adult appearance after thousands of years. Over the years, as she watched her slowly grow up, her heart often whispered inside that God Gu Jun was really pitiful. If they were an ordinary immortal family, with an immortal foundation that Hou Chi had, she probably would have turned into ashes a long time ago. It was also thanks to the aura of Qingchi Palace and loads of elixir that raised her to be so big.

No matter how ordinary she looked, she had coercion that was difficult for normal immortals to accomplish. It was rare to see Hou Chi asking her so solemnly, and Feng Ran hesitated for a moment before replying, "Yes, I indeed do want to go. It will only work out if you go with God's invitation. If I...God Gu Jun isn't here, and those people are all hoping that I would cause trouble."
"That's true. I don't think Dong Hua would want to make things hard for me." Hou Chi nodded her head and put down her fishing pole, saying lightly as she stroked her chin, "When does Dong Hua's birthday banquet start?"
"In five days."
"Then you should get ready, we'll leave in four days."
"Huh?" Feng Ran suddenly heard these words and was taken aback. Her eyes suddenly started glowing, "Hou Chi, you're willing to go?"
This was really weird. Someone who would rather rot in Qingchi Palace for thousands of years just agreed so easily?
"Feng Ran, how long have you been in Qingchi Palace?" Hou Chi started walking towards the middle of the palace, asking unhurriedly.
"Ten thousand years..."
"You have never pleaded to me..." Hou Chi turned around and looked at the woman who seemed to be thinking, her eyes flashing with a bit of meaningfulness.
There were very few lords that were the most powerful in the Three Realms. Feng Ran came from the Phoenix Clan, and her temper was even more arrogant. Although she was saved by God Gu Jun and was willing to stay in Qingchi Palace, this did not mean that she would bow down to the other immortal lords.
In the past ten thousand years, Hou Chi had never seen Feng Ran plead to someone in such a manner. The two had interacted for thousands of years, and although they didn't say it out loud, their relationship was stronger than normal people. Although she subconsciously didn't want to leave the palace, if it was for Feng Ran, it could be an exception.
"I've never asked you why you entered Qingchi Palace in the first place, nor did you tell me...Yesterday, Chang Que told me that Zi Yuan will be going to Dong Hua's birthday banquet. Are you going for him?"
She only learned about the entanglement that had happened ten thousand years ago that came out of Chang Que's mouth yesterday.
Feng Ran nodded her head but did not say anything. She had never brought her past entanglements into Qingchi Palace, nor did she have the desire to take revenge on God Gu Jun and the other gods. Deep inside her heart, as long as she did not take revenge for the old demon tree, she will always be the lonely Feng Ran in Yuanling Swamp. Revenge was only her matter, and she had never told Hou Chi of her past hatred.
"Feng Ran, you are a high lord of the Immortal Realm. No matter what order father gave you, you don't need to be afraid. No matter how bad it is, Qingchi Palace can still protect you."
Feng Ran looked at Hou Chi, who was walking away, with a complex expression. After a long time, she stroked her chin, remembering the words that God Gu Jun said before he left the palace and suddenly understood.
"Feng Ran, Hou Chi has lived in Qingchi Palace since she was young. She is indifferent and never takes one step out of the palace, but she does protect her shortcomings. If there is a day when you need her, just tell her."

So God Gu Jun had already expected that she would find trouble with those people sooner or later, so he would tell her this.
Standing next to Huajing Pond, Feng Ran's eyes showed some relief. She couldn't help but smile and say in a low voice, "It's just helping me, why say it so righteously. It's really awkward."
Lord Dong Hua's immortal residence was in Daze Mountain on the coast of the Eastern Sea. A few days before the birthday banquet, it was already full of immortal friends.
High Deity Zi Yuan re-selected a gift and finally arrived a day before the birthday banquet. Looking at the crowd of immortals, he couldn't help but smile. The more immortals there were, the more attention he would get at the birthday banquet tomorrow.
At the same time, Feng Ran was angrily looking at the lazy Hou Chi who was sitting cross-legged on an auspicious cloud, and her expression was so miserable that she looked heartbroken, "You tell me, you tell me...I normally tell you to practice your magic in Qingchi Palace but you just won't. Now, you can't even move an auspicious cloud. If those immortals see you, they'll laugh at you for sure!"
Hou Chi waved her hand, saying indifferently, "That doesn't matter. I'm a goddess, and it's enough with you by my side. Who in the Three Realms doesn't know that I'll fall when the wind blows? And besides, who would dare make me, a goddess, demonstrate driving a cloud?"
Feng Ran was choked by her bitter words, and she flicked her sleeves helplessly, no longer looking at Hou Chi who was looking at her with bright eyes.
"Remember, Dong Hua is, after all, a highly respected old high lord. He has a lot of disciples and grandchildren under him. Don't keep your rude expression on when we arrive. Then, even if you are being reasonable, it will turn into unreasonable." Hou Chi told Feng Ran unhurriedly. When she saw her stiff face, she knew it was useless to say more, so she simply squinted and yawned.
Forget it, no matter how much trouble she would cause, she won't let her get the short end of the stick.
She couldn't help but think that in a certain way of thinking, this master and servant logic had an effect that was similar to shocking people. Of course, one was based on strength. The other...was of course based on a strong backing.
In general, what the Mortal Realm said about relying on useful people in the village was referring to people like Hou Chi.
Driving the clouds slowly the entire way, the two finally arrived at the bottom of Daze Mountain on the night before the birthday banquet. It was already deep into the night, and although there were colorful lights in front of the immortal mansion, there was not even an immortal lord in charge besides the little child who sat at the door with his eyes drooping down and yawning.
One of them in this group of two was an evil god who had been dormant in Qingchi Palace for thousands of years, and the other was only heard of in the past thousands of years, a god who had never appeared before. Don't mention this little immortal child, because even if there was an immortal lords with good eyes, he probably would not be able to recognize her either. When the two were halfway up the mountain, the immortal child who was guarding the door wasn't even willing to come over.
With Lord Dong Hua's reputation, there have been many gods who lick different faces to gain benefits and make friends by flattering others. To not make these immortal deities too embarrassed, Xiu Zhu, Lord Dong Hua's second disciple, had specially arranged a place for them at the foot of the mountain. This news was known by most immortals when the invitations were sent out, so the immortals who did not receive an invitation all went to the foot of the mountain.
Of course, known by most did not mean that the two standing in front of the entrance knew it. When they were standing in front of the immortal mansion in the middle of the night, waiting for someone to receive them, they felt a little desolate.
Seeing that no one had come out to receive them, Feng Ran's eyes suddenly became alert, and she pulled Hou Chi towards her, preparing to enter.
The immortal child who was guarding the door saw that the two were walking his way, and was also a little agitated, afraid that he was not looking at things properly. He hurriedly respectfully said, "May I know which high lord you are? Do you have an invitation?"
The voice was soft and crisp and held a bit of trepidation and tenderness. Feng Ran was a soft-hearted person, and a lot of her anger dissipated immediately, but pretended and said, "Of course I have an invitation..."
She said half of the words when her robe was pulled by the person behind her. She looked back to see Hou Chi shaking her head at her, her normally light expression carrying embarrassment, "Feng Ran...I forgot to tell Chang Que to fetch the invitation..."
Feng Ran froze, rolled her eyes, and said, "You really have a good memory...it's alright, just say your name..."
The two of them were whispering over here, but the immortal child over there had heard a few muffled sentences. Seeing that the two hadn't moved, he rolled his eyes and said rudely, "Immortal lords, my high lord has prepared a living place for guests at the foot of the mountain. You guys can go now."
Feng Ran froze. She had always lived in Qingchi Palace after coming out of Yuanling Swamp, so she did not know much more about the current events of the world than Hou Chi. When she heard the immortal child's words, she thought that all of the guests were staying at the foot of the mountain, so she didn't get wordy and pulled Hou Chi to ride on the clouds, flying down the mountain.
Only Hou Chi squinted her eyes. She looked at the little immortal children from the cloud, which made them produce a load of cold sweat.
In the bamboo forest at the foot of the mountain, a few huts were built, and the artistic conception was pretty good. Feng Ran randomly picked a hut and went in to meditate. Hou Chi had slept on the cloud the whole day and was full of energy. Seeing Feng Ran close her eyes, she left a note and went out for a stroll.
When Hou Chi left the bamboo cottage, she was a little stuffy. The mist here was full of immortal aura, and there was not less of it here than in Qingchi Palace. But this place was close to the Eastern Sea, and there were up to ten thousand creatures living in the sea that relied on the immortal aura on Da'ze Mountain. Reasonably, even if this place was busy, it wouldn't be so full of aura, not to mention...the aura gave Hou Chi an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
Hou Chi did not have strong spiritual powers, but she had a very good vision. Thinking that there must be something strange in Da'ze Mountain, she started to slowly walk towards the back mountain with suspicion.
After four hours when she had walked deep into the back mountain and was just about to give up, she was surprised by the scene in front of her.
In the maple forest, there was an open space of 100 meters with a sword mound. There were thousands, maybe even ten thousand swords inserted into it, working together to point at the sky. Looking at it from far away, there was a heavy feeling of ancientness with a hint of coldness. A steady stream of spiritual power condensed from the sword mound, slowly drifting away, and finally permitted throughout the entire Da'ze Mountain.
This many miles long nameless sword tomb was the reason for Da'ze Mountain's abundance in spiritual power.
Looking at the ten thousand dilapidated immortal swords, Hou Chi frowned as she stood aside. She didn't know that such a place could exist in the Three Realms. There were ten thousand immortals swords here, and even if they were dilapidated, they were still very rare. How could the Three Realms not know of their existence, as they were located here peacefully?
"Hou Chi, so you're over here!"
Feng Ran's relieved voice could be heard from behind. Hou Chi looked back to see Feng Ran flying frantically over on a cloud.
"Why are you running around randomly? There are quite a lot of immortal beasts on Da'ze Mountain, and they won't recognize your high god status..." Feng Ran didn't spare anyone from the way she spoke, but there was not much worry on her face. After all, the protection magic that God Gu Jun had left Hou Chi was not ordinary, and normal immortal lords wouldn't be able to attack Hou Chi. When she got near Hou Chi's side, she uttered a soft humiliation, "This Lord Dong Hua really has a leisurely personality. He even built such an empty mound in the mountain."
Hou Chi raised her head, and a trace of surprise passed over her eyes, "What did you say? Empty mound?"
"Yeah, there is nothing in this pit, which makes it look really frightening." Feng Ran was startled by Hou Chi's suddenly raised voice, then spoke after looking at the pit again.
"You didn't see anything?"
"No."
Hou Chi turned around and looked at a broken sword, then at Feng Ran suspiciously. She stroked her chin and said to Feng Ran in a particularly mysterious and satisfied tone, "Feng Ran, I have finally realized why I have the fate of a god..."
Feng Ran got goosebumps all over from this tone. Seeing Hou Chi squinting her eyes, she couldn't help but ask, "Why?"
She regretted it right after she asked. No one in the Three Realms did not know that Goddess Hou Chi's fate was forcibly established by God Gu Jun at the Heavenly Emperor's wedding sixty thousand years ago.
"The will of the heavens, the will of the heavens. Feng Ran, you should go first, I want to take a look here." Hou Chi waved her hand and started to analyze the sword tomb.
"But it's dawn..." As soon as she heard the words, Feng Ran replied with an eye roll.
The dawn was filled with dew, and the bells on the hillside cut through the silence of the sky, spreading far and near.
Seeing that Hou Chi had not heard her words. Feng Ran sighed, "Then I'll go up first, come up quicker!"
When Feng Ran's silhouette disappeared into the sky, Hou Chi slightly squinted her eyes at the broken sword.
If it was unknown by the Three Realms, then is this the reason? Then why can she see it?
Dong Hua's immortal mansion halfway up the mountain was particularly lively. Lord Zi Yuan was standing in the crowd of immortals with a wide smile on his face. When he turned around and saw the familiar figure walking into the main hall with the crowd of immortals, a touch of almost invisible resentment passed under his eyes, and he went to the front with a smile.
"I see someone! The high lord that hasn't been seen for ten thousand years appears in the Three Realms. I thought that High lord had already been crowned bliss and eternal life!"

My Failed Reincarnation as a Demon’s Prisoner
When Kayn opened his eyes in the empty void, he was met with a familiar voice and the knowledge that he was neither dead nor alive and about to be reincarnated. What he didn't expect was to reappear in the world of the living and immediately get captured by a clan of demons, now living as their prisoner. After a lucky encounter, Kayn stumbles upon a room that could possibly give him what he needs to free himself from their captivity. But, as he soon finds out, escaping from the demon queen herself isn't the easiest of tasks... **DISCLAIMER**This story attempts to be quite comedic (I don't know if I'm doing a great job at it) and will be more comedy heavy at the start than later on. As the situations Kayn finds himself in become more grave, the story will become serious and less comedy oriented. There will always be comedy throughout, but at some point I do plan on shifting the focus. I'd love to hear everyones opinion on whether the comedy should be kept in full, or dialed back a little so the plot can take centre stage more often. Happy reading!
