《The Ruka Wild ↠ Book 2 > A:TLA》03

It's been a few weeks since Iroh, Zuko, and I became fugitives. Zuko's hair now covered his whole head instead of just one spot and... it looks good.
I sat with my legs crossed in front of a small hole that was filled with water. My chin rested on my palm while I water bent the dirty water from the hole repeatedly out of boredom.
"When is Zuko coming back?" I turned my head over my shoulder to look at Iroh. He was kneeled down in front of a pretty flower - he's been doing this for the past fifteen minutes.
I heard ruffling sounds coming from the bushes and I smiled when I saw Zuko fall out of them. "I didn't find anything to eat! I can't live like this! I wasn't meant to be a fugitive! This is impossible!" He kicked the dirt then raised his arms up in frustration.
I chuckled while I walked over to him. "I'll help you find food, just calm down." I dusted off the leaves that were on him while he slumped his shoulders.
"Oh like you 'helping' would make a difference."
I crossed my arms, "Hey, I'm the brains of this group."
"No you're not! If anything, it's Uncle!" He said then pointed to Iroh who was still staring at that darn flower. I looked back to Zuko with a 'really?' face.
"Uncle, what are you doing?"
Zuko and I walked over to Iroh while he explained, "You're looking at the rare White Dragon Bush. It's leaves make a tea so delicious, it's heartbreaking!"
"That or it's the White Jade Bush, which is poisonous." Iroh added with his hand on his chin.
"We need food, not tea. I'm going fishing!" Zuko said before he walked away. "I'll go too!" Before I followed after him, I pointed my finger at Iroh. "Don't. Touch. That. Flower."

"Here. Use this." Zuko handed me a long thick enough stick and had one for him in his other hand.
We walked into the lake and watched for any fish under us. Our backs were to each other and I think Zuko was too concentrated to notice me turning around and pointing my stick to his back.
I started to poke Zuko repeatedly while snickering. "Stop that!" Zuko yelled while turning half way to me.
I put my hand over my mouth to cover my smile, "Okay."
I turned back around and looked down at the water. I widened my eyes when I saw a decent sized fish swimming toward me. I lifted my stick up with a grin, "Hey Zuko! I got-"
I fell into the water butt first. I pouted as I looked up to Zuko who held a smirk. "You think you're funny?" I used the water to grab Zuko's arm and pull him down. "Hey!"
He fell frontward into the water and I laughed. Zuko stood up with a barely noticeable smile then helped me up.
I looked at the end of Zuko's stick and snickered at the small baby fish.
He groaned in frustration and I patted his back. "Looks like that's the best we're gonna get. Let's get back to Iroh before he gets himself into a mess."
On our way back, I tried to make conversation to fill the awkward silence.
"So... what's the plan?" I asked him. He looked at me from the corner of his eye. "The plan?"
I nodded. "Yeah. Where are we off to next?"
"I uh... don't know." He scratched the back of his neck. "You don't know?"
"You're the brains of this group!"
"Well if you give me a location, then I'll come up with a plan!"

"Like your plan will get us anywhere."
"You just sa-" I groaned, "Why are you always contradicting me?!"
Zuko scoffed, "I'm not contra-"
"Children!"
We both turned our heads and saw Iroh sitting with his legs crossed and his back to us. "Remember that plant I thought might be tea?"
I realized the plant was gone and I didn't want Iroh to turn around.
Zuko raised his brow. "You didn't?"
"I did." Iroh said. "And it wasn't."
Iroh turned around and Zuko and I gasped while stepping back in shock. His face was swollen and he had a bad rash all over his body.
Iroh stood up while scratching his belly with his hand and his back with a stick. "When the rash spreads through my throat, I will stop breathing. But look what I found!"
The stick ended up being another plant. At the end of the branches held red looking berries. "These are Bacui berries! Known to cure the poison of the White Jade plant! That or Maka'ole berries that cause blindness."
"Iroh!" I whined.
Zuko snatched the berries out of his hand then threw them away. "We're not taking anymore chances with these plants! We need to get help."
"But where are we going to go?!" Iroh asked as he knelt down to scratch the back of his leg. I helped him out and he thanked me.
"We're enemies of the Earth Kingdom! And fugitives from the Fire Nation!" Iroh said.
"If the Earth Kingdom discovers us, they'll have us killed." Zuko thought with his hand on his chin.
"But if the Fire Nation discovers us, we'll be turned over to Azula." Iroh added.
I sighed, "So either way, we're screwed. Let's pick the one less painful."
Zuko and Iroh looked to each other then nodded. "Earth Kingdom it is."

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

8 192Strings Of The Orchestrator
Intro: The system swept over the earth, wrenching everyone from their normal lives and throwing them into new worlds made of chaos and insanity. The rules that once governed the world have shifted. The laws that once bound people, both the dangerous and the kind, have vanished. Now, life is all about advancement, pushing your numbers and skills higher and higher. Alone on a distant world, Max Grand instead must now prove himself, not to the system that now governs his entire world, but to his companions and best friends. Follow Max on his journey through space, through time, through space again, meeting people, going places, and doing things. All the nouns. Note About myself: I am only a hobbyest writer. I hope the internet doesn't expect novel level content from me. I have seen what others on the internet, and even more so this website, can produce and aspire to reach their level. I have no Idea what will come of this, but it should at least be a fun experience for all involve. The writing improves gradually as the chapters go on. I invariably learn some stuff after writing a bunch, finding what works and what doesn't. I definately need to work on paceing and dialouge and flow. Those are the three main goals for now. **Chapter lengths float around the 2300 to 2500 word range as of current chapter Thank you and happy reading.
