All it took was two weeks for him to start dating again. In your opinion, that was fucked up. Considering how you "were the only person that understood him", I guess that doesn't mean anything.

You helped Billy work through a lot of shit, you dealt with everything and you were more than willing to look past every bad thing that he had said or done. You helped him gain control of his emotions and it was like you were his personal therapist.

Now that he was more in control of himself, he didn't need you anymore. He broke up with you and when you asked why all he could do was shrug as he walked out your front door. He left you in your living room, you were crying as you heard him speed off your street.

Your friends were concerned about you, you had been crying on the floor of your bathroom. You hadn't been sleeping, the darkness under your eyes becoming more evident as the days went on. You had heard rumors that Billy had a new girlfriend, it felt so sudden. You couldn't understand how fast he moved you, you had dated him for a year and he threw it all away without reason.

You tried to avoid him at all costs but, living in Hawkins made that difficult. You saw him two weeks later with a new girl under his arm. They were in front of the mall leaning on the hood of his car, sharing a cigarette. You had to walk past them to get to your car, his new girlfriend was laughing at something he said. You avoided his gaze but, you could feel him staring as you walked past him.

You knew you wouldn't be able to avoid him forever. He walked into Melvald's as you were closing for the night. You heard the bell on the door ring, you hadn't looked up from the register you were cleaning.

"I'm sorry, sir but I'm actually closing right now. Please come back tomorrow." When you finally looked up you saw him standing there, he was almost frozen.

"I'm sorry, I just need to grab a few things before tomorrow morning." He couldn't even look you in the eyes. You bit your lip, looking at the clock. You were supposed to leave in 5 minutes.

"Fine. Make it fast though." If it were anyone else you would've been more patient but, it wasn't just anyone, it was Billy. He brought the stuff he needed to you, he was still avoiding your tired eyes.

"You look happy with your new girlfriend, Billy. I've been miserable for the past two weeks in case you were wondering." The air was thick around you two. He couldn't say anything to you as he paid. He turned to leave and turned around once more almost like he was going to say something to you but, he shook his head and walked out. You wiped a single tear that had rolled down your cheek.

Days went by without seeing him. The way he acted at Melvald's bothered you. You understood that what you said was probably uncalled for but, he couldn't even look at you.

It had been raining all week and apparently your car couldn't take it anymore because on your way to work, you broke down right in front of Billy's house. After letting out a string of profanities slip out of your mouth, you heard someone knock on your window, you jumped slightly as you saw Mrs. Hargrove with an umbrella motioning for you to come inside with her. You hesitantly went with her.

She made you a cup of tea and you called your manager, letting her know what was going on. You sat awkwardly in the living room with Mrs. Hargrove. You searched around the room for anything that could be a topic of discussion. Mrs. Hargrove looked at her watch, she made a comment about Billy being home soon and that he could fix your car and hopefully you'd be able to go to work. She must've seen your look of dread because she quickly changed the subject. You heard Billy pull into his driveway and soon enough you heard him open the door.

"Sorry, Susan, I didn't realize you had company, I would've been home sooner-" he stopped talking as he saw you sitting on his couch.

"Oh, Billy, sweetie, Y/n's car broke down, could you take a look at it for them?" Billy just nodded and went back outside. Mrs. Hargrove seemed to notice the tension between the two of you. While you were dating Billy, she had become really fond of you and you really enjoyed her company too. But, you assumed Billy hadn't told her that he dumped you. You didn't want to talk to her about it but your only other option seemed to be to go outside. You debated the pros and cons and you picked going outside. It's not like he would talk to you anyway.

Billy looked up from your car and upon seeing you, he went right back to looking at your car. The rain still hadn't stopped, Billy was soaked and you were starting to become drenched as well.

"You really don't have to look at it, I can just call Hopper to take me home and then I'll come get it tomorrow." Billy shook his head.

"It's fine I'll just take you home right now." You got in his car and it was so quiet, the only noise being the rain. As he pulled up to your house you thanked him and told him you had some of his stuff in your house that would bring to him. You brought his stuff to him.

"Billy, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for what I said the other night. But, I'm not sorry at the same time because, like what the fuck? You break up with me for no reason, you act like we never happened, and you flaunt your new girlfriend like she's a damn trophy! The least I deserve is an explanation because I'm not sure if you can tell but I've been fucking miserable! You look happy and healthy and it seems like you've been doing great without me! I thought you loved me, I thought I was the only one that really understood you! But you're so unbothered that it doesn't make any damn sense!" Your face felt red, your throat was sore from having to yell over the sound of the rain. You felt hot tears rolling down your face.

Billy was looking at the ground as if his response to you was written on the pavement. But as you continued to wait for an answer, you never got one. You started laughing and he was finally able to look at you.

"Honestly, good for you, Billy. I'm glad you were able to sweep the year we spent together under the rug and completely forget everything we did together." With that you walked back to your house with no intention of ever seeing Billy again.
