Billy Hargrove x Reader

Warnings: major season 3 spoilers, swearing and violence.

A/N: I was gonna wait til Monday to post this but, I decided to just do it tonight. I was gonna split this into 2 parts but idk where to cut it off at :/

You and Billy had just started dating a month ago. You guys did everything together. At first, you guys were just friends but then you caught feelings for each other.

Billy was supposed to pick you up for your date 3 hours ago. He was never late for your dates, he was either early or right on time. You knew something was wrong, you had already called his house once. You didn't want to call too many times because you knew how Neil could get. Billy never showed up for your date. It was super unlike him. You decided that tomorrow you would go to the pool and talk to him there.

You drove to the pool and when you pulled up, you saw Billy walking towards the changing area. You followed him back there while calling out his name.

"Billy? Are you in here?" You found Billy, his back was towards you, you placed a hand on his shoulder to get his attention. He flinched under your touch, when he turned around, you noticed that he was super sweaty and his eyes seemed darker.

"Get away from me Y/N, it's not safe for you to be near me." And with that he walked right past you. You were confused as hell.

"Billy! Come back!" He continued to ignore you. You ended up giving up after 5 minutes of trying to talk to Billy. You drove to the Hargrove house and prayed that Max would be there. Thankfully she was right outside. You rolled down your passenger seat window.

"Hey, tell your mom I'm gonna take you to get some lunch. We need to talk." Max quickly went inside and was back out. You and Max had gotten closer since you started dating Billy. You had always been a little close since you tutored her during the school year. You drove to the mall and you both just sat in Scoops Ahoy.

"What's going on with Billy?" You waited for her to finish her spoonful of ice cream.

"I don't know, I haven't really seen him. I just assumed that he was with you or working. Why what happened? Did he hurt you? Because if he did I swear to God, I will-" You quickly cut off her rant.

"No, nothing like that happened. Yesterday he never showed up for our date and then today, he said that it's not safe for me to be around him. Is everything okay at home? Has Neil been... ya know?" Max shook her head.

"Neil's been out of town this whole week and he won't be back until next week."

"Oh okay, so what time did Billy get home last night?"

"Probably around 1 am, I woke up to get a drink of water and he was just getting home. That's why I thought he was with you." You didn't know what to say.

"So, I've been hanging out with El more, do you wanna have a girls night at Hopper's cabin?"

"I would love that, just make sure that your mom knows."

You guys left the mall after leaving a generous tip in the Scoops Ahoy tip jar. You drove Max back home and you told her that you would be back around 7 to pick her up for the sleepover at Hopper's house.

To kill time you went back to the pool to see if Billy was still there. He was, he was sitting in the lifeguard chair with a shirt on... weird. You drove back to your house. You packed a small bag of clothes, make up and magazines. Soon enough you drove back to Max's house. When you got to Hopper's, you dumped your bag on El's bed. You gave them make overs and gossiped about Ralph Macchio. Eventually the girls wanted to spy on people using El's powers, you had an idea of what she could do. You were there when Billy beat the shit out of Steve Harrington. He had woken up to you putting a glass of water and some aspirin by his his bed.

El spun the spinner a second time and it landed on Billy, both girls turned to look at you and you just nodded.

"He's with a girl" you felt a tear slip down your cheek. El started to freak out and she pulled the blindfold off. The girl El had been describing sounded an awful lot like Heather Holloway. The next day all 3 of you had done some investigating. You drove them to the Holloway house, you stayed in the car not wanting to witness whatever Billy was doing. They walked out confused and Billy was standing in the door way staring at you.

"Um, I think you guys are over Y/N. He was having dinner with her parents." What the fuck? He hadn't even met your parents yet! And he was just now meeting hers.

"Are you okay?" El placed a hand on your shoulder.

"I will be but, I think there's something going on with Billy."

Max had called everyone else over. After explaining everything to the rest of the party. They started to theorize.

"Guys, Billy was wearing a shirt when I went to the pool the other day. That's weird." Everyone nodded in agreement.

"He likes it cold. Maybe that's why Billy's been wearing more clothes than usual."

You drove them all to the pool. You had decided to do a sauna test, you were gonna make Billy super fucking hot in order to figure everything out. You helped the kids get everything set up. It was your job to lead him in there. If there was one thing he couldn't resist, it was sex. So you told him to meet you in the sauna in 10 minutes. You ran back there and told the kids to be ready. When Billy was walking towards the sauna he was calling out your name. You felt like shit for doing this to him but, it had to be done. You heard the kids slam to door shut on him.

Billy had been asked to be let out, and he asked for us to open the door. He became hysterical, he was crying. He kept saying that a shadow made him do some bad stuff. He was begging to be let out. You saw Will touch his neck and you grabbed Max by the waist to pull her away from the door. Billy had been yelling at Max as he shoved his arm through the tiny window in the door. Billy had managed to open the door and Lucas shot him with his slingshot. You stood in front of the kids while they were huddled behind you. The Billy that you were seeing was inhuman. Billy stood in front of you, everything about him was dark. El threw a something at him holding him up against the wall, he got it off of him. You stayed in front of the kids, you were trying to protect them as best as you could. Billy walked over to El, grabbing her by the hair, he stared at all of you and the started to choke her.

"Billy!" You managed to scream out his name and for a split second his whole demeanor softened up enough for Mike to grab a metal pole and hit Billy with it. Before he could do anything to Mike, El used her powers to through a wall. You hurried the kids out to your car and drove them back to your house.

You dragged El inside, you gave her a washcloth for her nose, and some ice for the bruising around her neck. You all go back to Mike's house, you were trying to get all of this information back to Joyce and Hopper but, after calling almost everyone in Hawkins, El decided that she would go through the void to try a d track them down. She found them, they were heading to Chicago. You guys were shit out of luck. Nancy and Jonathan came to the Wheeler's and you told them everything. Nancy told you guys about Mrs. Driscoll. Which led you guys to going to the hospital to visit her.

When you guys got there, you instantly got a bad feeling. There was something in your gut that told you that some serious shit was about to go down. You were right. Nancy and Jonathan had been running from a monster from the upside down, El killed quickly and you guys got the hell out of there. You all drove to Hopper's cabin, where El entered the void. El was panicking.

"Wait so, Billy is coming here?"

"Yes" As soon as the word left her mouth, everyone started to board everything up. You went to Hopper's shed and grabbed some guns and an axe. You gave Nancy a gun and Jonathan got the axe. All of the kids were standing behind the three of you.

The Mind Flayer had shot one of it's arms, through the house instantly going for El. Jonathan hit it with the axe and it retreated. It continued to do this until it grabbed her leg, you heard her scream in pain. Everyone started to pull on El, and Jonathan kept hitting it with the axe, eventually he broke it off and everyone ran outside. El used her powers to rip in half. You guys drove to a store so that you could help El. After that you made your way to Starcourt to find Dustin. El's leg had been looking weird and causing her even more pain. Jonathan saw something move inside her leg and cut open her wound. He had to jam his finger into her open wound in order to get part of the Mind Flayer out. He was unsuccessful so, El used her powers to do it.

You heard footsteps coming, you looked for any sign of a Russian enemy, you let out a deep sigh when you saw Joyce, Hopper and Murray Bauman. Erica and Dustin have to guide them through the Russian lab in the basement of the mall. You help Max and Mike get El to safety. While trying to outrun Billy, he knocked out Max and Mike, leaving you to carry El. If it weren't for the adrenaline coursing through your veins, you probably wouldn't have been able to carry her. With one rough tug of your hair Billy had taken El out of your arms. You ran to Max and Mike and then you all went to find Billy. It looked like he was sacrificing El. You ran to Billy, you knew it was risky but, if it meant saving your boyfriend you would do anything.

You placed a hand on his shoulder, which caused him to drop El, he glared at you and shoved you to the ground. This gave Max and Mike plenty of time to pull El away. Billy had straddled your waist, he raised his fist like he was going to punch you. You placed and hand on his cheek.

"Billy, El told me about your mom. She said she was pretty, really really pretty. You've always said that you want me to meet her. We've talked about going to California before I start college in the fall. I want to meet her, she must be so wonderful. I know we'veonly been dating for a month but, I love you." Billy's eyes softened, it was like he was back. He put his fist back to his side and gave you a quick kiss.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen." Before you could say anything, Billy walked up to the Mind Flayer and started to speak. You saw the Mind Flayer shove its arms into Billy's sides. You started screaming something unintelligible. You started to run towards Billy but, Max pulled you away. Billy fell to the ground, you and Max rushed over to his side.

"I love you, Y/N. I'm so sorry Max." Billy's eyes started to close. You and Max begged for him to say awake.

"Billy, keep those pretty eyes open. Tell me about what we're gonna do in California. What's your mom like? You promised you would teach me how to surf. C'mon Billy, stay wake."

"I'm so sorry." Those were his last words. His eyes closed and you felt like you couldn't breathe. You and Max held each other as you sobbed heavily. Time felt like it had frozen. You and Max had been crying for what felt like hours but, was actually about 45 minutes. You felt the arms of someone strong pull you away from Billy. You were clinging onto them and sobbed into their shirt. You looked up and saw a fire fighter pulling away Max as she sobbed into her shirt. You looked up and saw Hopper's tired eyes.

"You're gonna be okay, kid." He carried you out to the same ambulance as El. After you were cleared to go, you looked around for Max. You felt someone grab onto your waist from behind, and a small part of you hoped it was Billy but, you turn around and saw Max. You were relieved to see her but, you couldn't deny the fact that you'd be more relieved if it was Billy. You hugged Max for a few minutes before driving her home. You told her to call if she needed anything and that she was always welcome at your house. The rest of your summer had been spent by tracking down Billy's mom. You knew Neil wasn't going to tell her about Billy, you had spent 2 weeks in California before giving up. You stopped for gas at some shitty gas station. You looked up at the woman at the register. She looked so familiar.

"Do I know you? I'm sorry you just look so familiar. I'm not from here so I don't know anyone but, you just look so familiar." She smiled at you sweetly.

"Well, where are you from?"

"Hawkins, Indiana. I'm headed back there now actually. "

"My asshole ex-husband lives there." You nearly dropped your change on the counter. This had to be his mom right?

"Is your ex Neil Hargrove?" She nodded, she looked uncomfortable hearing his name.

"I've been looking for you. Can we talk, I've got something to tell you." She looked confused but nodded. You told her about Billy, about how you guys had been dating and he had just passed away. She was speechless. She asked you so many questions about her son, she hadn't seen him in years. At the end of it all she gave you a tight hug. She thanked you for coming all the way to California to tell her.

You missed Billy so much. Max had been hanging out with you more than ever. You wanted to see him. You wished that your last memory of him was something happier, like him winning one of those stuffed animals at the 4th of July carnival. Or you guys kissing at the top of the ferris wheel. You just missed Billy.
