While Matthew was leaning against the doorway to the room with a smirk on his face and a glass of orange juice in hand, Mike said, "Alright, that's the last one."

With a smile on her face, Karen said to him, "No, just one more. Come on, please?"

While Karen went to take yet another picture of Mike in his costume, Matthew only chuckled to himself with a mere shake of his head.

As soon as the photograph came out of the camera, Mike asked her, "Can I go to school?"

While raising the camera yet again, she said to him, "Wait, wait. Okay, say, 'Who you gonna call'?"

In turn, Mike said, "No!"

After Karen had taken yet another picture of him, Mike looked over at Matthew, who looked like he was enjoying every bit of it far too much.

With a scoff, Mike said to him, "Shut up, Matt."

In response to Mike's words, Matthew's smirk had only widened as he raised his glass of orange juice at his brother with a raise of his eyebrows.

Then Mike rolled his eyes at his brother and yelled out a 'hey' when Karen had taken yet another picture of him.

With his arms crossed over his chest and a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth, Matthew silently eyed Valerie after seeing her walk over towards him.

It wasn't until she stopped right in front of him that he leaned back into the car his parents had bought him once he turned sixteen over the summer and asked her, "What do you want, Val?" When she only tilted her head at him, he told her, "If you're here to ask me about Tina's party, then the answer's no. I'm not going."

With a scoff, she asked him, "You really think I give a shit about her party?" When he only raised his eyebrows in response to her words, she told him, "No, I came to ask you if you know any good dealers in the area."

With an eyebrow raised, he asked her, "You came to ask me if there are any good dealers in the area?" When she only nodded her head, he told her, "Then you'll have to find Munson. He's a pretty good dealer."

In turn, she asked him, "And which one is Munson?"

He replied, "You can't miss him. He's about my height, has crazy long hair and is always wearing that denim jacket of his that's got this, um, Dio patch on the back of it. Plus, he's apparently repeating his senior year, so there's that, too."

With a tilt of her head, she asked him, "And how exactly do you know all that?"

He told her, "Because I used to buy from him, like, a year ago." Then he nodded his head over towards Eddie's van as he said to her, "His van's right over there, so you could go and ask him about buying something from him before he leaves."

Instead of going over towards Eddie, Valerie asked him, "Why'd you stop buying from him?"

With a shrug of his shoulders, he took his cigarette away from his mouth and blew some smoke before he said, "Why not? Didn't really need to buy anything more from him. Plus, cigarettes help me a hell of a lot better than the weed he sold to me ever did."

With an eyebrow raised, she asked him, "So, you're telling me he buys shit drugs and just sells it to people?"

With a shake of his head, he replied, "Nope. He has the good shit, but I don't really have the time to go out of my way and buy it from him anymore." Then he glanced over towards Eddie's van and saw Eddie start to open his van door before he told her, "He's about to get in his van and leave, so it's now or never, Val."

With furrowed eyebrows, Valerie looked between Eddie and Matthew.

After a moment of just looking between them, she grabbed Matthew by the arm and quickly dragged him with her over towards Eddie's van.

With a roll of his eyes, Matthew muttered under his breath, "Jesus Christ."

And while she dragged him over to Eddie's van, Matthew looked around himself and saw Billy Hargrove— someone Matthew had seen around the school— staring at him with narrowed eyes and a lit cigarette in his own mouth.

It wasn't until both he and Valerie had stopped moving that he turned his head to see that they were now standing beside Eddie's van.

And it was only then that he realized that Eddie was back out of his van and was looking between Valerie and Matthew before he said with a nod of his head, "Hey there, Wheeler. Long time no talk, huh?"

With a nod of his head, Matthew said, "Yep."

After a moment of silence, Eddie asked, "So, what are you doing over here, Wheeler? After you just completely dropped me and stopped buying from me, I figured you wouldn't come my way ever again."

While gesturing towards Valerie, Matthew told him, "Val here wanted to buy something off of you. That's all."

With a nod of his head, Eddie said, "Oh." Then he turned to Valerie and asked her, "What were you thinking of buying?"

It was only when Valerie went to open her mouth to tell him that Matthew swiftly turned his back on them and walked back to his car, leaving Eddie and Valerie to stand on their own.

It wasn't until he reached his car that he glanced back over to them to see Eddie leading her over towards the spot in the woods that he would use to sell to people.

With a roll of his eyes, he got into his car and shoved the key into the ignition and turned it before he put the car into drive and drove out of the parking lot.

And while he drove out of the parking lot, a young red-headed girl was riding a skateboard out of the middle school and over towards where Billy Hargrove was still standing leaned against his car.

After turning off the light and closing the door to Nancy's bedroom, Jonathan went to turn around and walk down the stairs, only to stop when he heard a voice say from behind him, "Well, well, well. My big sister goes out to Tina's party, only to come back drunk with none other than Jonathan Byers carrying her in the house like a proper gentleman. Who would've thought?"

After quickly turning around to see Matthew staring down at him with his head tilted to the side and his arms crossed over his chest.

It was then that Jonathan said to him, "Oh, it's just you."

After tilting his head some more, Matthew said to him, "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you look pretty relieved that it's just me standing here and not our parents or anyone else for that matter. But that wouldn't be the case, right, Byers?"

With a nod of his head, Jonathan replied, "Of course not. Someone would have to be out of their mind to be relieved to see you."

Matthew only snorted in response before he turned his back on Jonathan and quickly walked down the stairs with an unlit cigarette in one hand and his car keys in the other and left Jonathan to stare after the sixteen-year-old boy.

After walking out of the 7-11 with a new pack of cigarettes in hand, Matthew was about to walk towards his car, only to stop and let out a sigh when he saw just who was leaning up against his car.

With a roll of his eyes and his arms now crossed over his chest, he asked, "What the fuck do you want, Val?"

Valerie told him, "I was just wondering what that was about earlier." When he only raised an eyebrow at her with a shake of his head, she said to him, "When I was talking to Munson. As soon as I started to talk to him, you just walked back to your car. Why?"

In turn, he asked her, "Why does it matter?" When she didn't respond, he said to her, "I mean, really, Val. You've only been here for, like, a day and you're acting like we're friends or something. I don't even know you. So, if you could just get the hell away from my car and quit acting like we're the best of friends or something, that'd be great."

When she didn't move away from his car, he let out a sigh before he walked over to her and grabbed her by the shoulders and was about to move her away from the driver's side car door, only to stop and pull his hands away when Valerie had suddenly become rather tense and then slapped his hands away from her.

After repeatedly looking between the redness of his hands and the intense look she now had on her face, he said, "Dude, what the hell? Why did you just hit my fucking hand?"

She replied, "Well, why did you just grab me?"

He told her, "Because I'm trying to get into my fucking car and you're just keeping me from doing just that."

She said to him, "You can't just grab people without their permission, Matt."

After rolling his eyes to himself, he grabbed a cigarette from his nearly empty pack of old cigarettes and put it in his mouth before he lit it.

After a moment of just standing there with the cigarette hanging out of his mouth, he took it out of his mouth and let out a sigh, which resulted in the smoke to come pouring out of his mouth before he said to her, "Fine. Whatever. Won't do it again. Now, can you do me a small favor and move your fucking ass and get it as far from my car as you can? 'Cause I've got places to be, Val, and I'd rather not waste my time talking to some girl that I barely know."

After a moment of silence, Valerie moved away from his car and watched as he got into the car and shut the door behind himself before he shoved his key into the ignition and started up the car.

Then he threw the car into reverse before he eventually drove off and left the red-haired girl standing there by herself.
