《Alexithymia | STRANGER THINGS》one | the vanishing of will byers

While Matthew Wheeler made his way down the stairs from his bedroom and was headed in the direction towards the kitchen, his younger brother, Mike, quickly ran into the kitchen and yelled, "Mom, wait, just twenty more minutes!"
Their mother, Karen, told him, "It's a school night, Michael. I just put Holly to bed. You can finish next weekend."
Mike replied, "But that'll ruin the flow!"
In turn, Karen said to him, "Michael—"
Mike said to him, "I'm serious, Mom. The campaign took two weeks to plan. How was I supposed to know it was gonna take ten hours?"
Karen asked him, "You've been playing for ten hours?"
It was then that Matthew had finally entered the kitchen and looked over at his younger brother, who had already looked away from their mother with a groan and over towards Matthew.
When Matthew only turned away from Mike with a roll of his eyes and started to look inside of the refrigerator for something to drink, Mike turned away from his older brother with a groan and asked, "Dad, don't you think that twenty more—"
Their father, Ted, told him, "I think you should listen to your mother." After hitting the top of the television, he let out a groan as he said, "Dang dumb piece of junk."
It was only then that Mike turned to Matthew and asked him, "You couldn't have just helped me out or something?"
With a scoff, Matthew replied, "What the hell would I do that for?" While choosing to ignore their mother, who was telling Matthew to watch his language, Matthew told him, "You're the one that decided to play that dumbass game of yours for ten hours."
Then he started to walk out of the kitchen with a milk carton in hand, which got their mother to yell after him, "Matthew Wheeler, bring back that carton right now!"
As he went to put his headphones on and pressed a button on his walkman, Matthew replied, "What was that, Mom?! I can't hear you over my music!"
While Karen only let out a sigh at her eldest son, Mike let out a groan before he quickly ran after his older brother in an attempt to get him to listen to him.
But unfortunately for Mike, Matthew couldn't hear a thing over the sound of Hells Bells playing loudly on his walkman.
While the phone started to ring, Nancy told Mike, "That's disgusting."
Mike replied, "You're disgusting!"
Not long after he said that, Karen picked up the ringing phone and said into it, "Hello?"
While Karen simply listened to the other person on the line, Mike went ahead and poured some syrup onto Nancy's eggs, which got her to say, "What the hell, Mike?"
While Karen yelled for them to be quiet and Matthew only ate his breakfast with a smirk on his face, Ted said to Nancy, "Hey! Language."
In turn, Nancy turned to Ted and said to him, "Are you kidding?"
While Matthew only snorted to himself at just how upset Nancy was with Mike, Karen asked into the phone, "Why? He's not home?"
It was only when the phone call had ended that Karen turned to her eldest son and asked him, "Matthew, did you put the carton back into the fridge like I asked?"

With a wave of his free hand, Matthew replied, "Go see for yourself."
With a sigh, Karen turned to go to the refrigerator as she said, "Honestly, Matthew."
It wasn't until she opened the refrigerator and saw that the milk carton was back inside of it that she turned to Matthew, who waved that very same hand as he said, "See, Mom? You've got nothing to worry about. It's back where it should be."
While Karen only sighed to herself, Matthew turned his attention over to Mike when he heard his younger brother say his name.
It wasn't until after Mike was forced to repeat what he just said that Karen had to yell out Matthew's name when he slapped the back of Mike's head.
After walking out of the bathroom, Nancy had forced herself to come to a halt when she found herself now standing face-to-face with her brother Matthew Wheeler.
With his hands shoved into the front pockets of his pants and an eyebrow raised, he asked her, "Where are you off to in such a hurry? Huh, Nance?"
She went to walk around him, only to stop when Matthew had suddenly stepped in front of her, which got her to sigh before she said, "Matt, seriously, you need to get out of the way."
With a scoff, he replied, "Or what? Are you gonna sic your boyfriend on me? Hmm?"
She started to say to him, "He's not my—"
It was only when Steve Harrington had also walked out of the bathroom that Matthew looked back over at Nancy and asked her, "He's not your what?"
It wasn't until he said that that Steve had stopped just beside Nancy and asked Matthew, "We got a problem here?"
In turn, Matthew said to him, "I don't know. Why don't you tell me? I mean, you are the one that's messing around with my sister, after all."
It was then that Nancy's mouth fell open and she said to Matthew, "What? No, we haven't— Um, I haven't— Look, can't you just get to your class, Matt?"
The most Matthew did was chuckle to himself before he said to her, "Sure. Whatever you say, Nance." Then he looked over at Steve and said to him, "See you never, Harrington."
It wasn't until Matthew had turned his back on Steve and Nancy and started to walk away from them that Steve asked Nancy, "Anyone ever tell you how much of a dick your brother is?"
The most Nancy could do was sigh to herself as she stared after her second youngest brother.
While Matthew simply side-eyed his two siblings, Mike said, "We should be out there right now. We should be helping look for him."
Karen replied, "We've been over this, Mike. The chief says—"
Mike told her, "I don't care what the chief said."
It was then that Karen turned to him and said, "Michael!"
Mike said to her, "We have to do something. Will can be in danger."
Karen replied, "Well, more reason to stay put."
Mike yelled, "Mom!"
Karen told him, "End of discussion."
After a couple seconds of silence, Nancy said to Karen, "So... me and Barbara are gonna study at her house tonight. That's cool, right?"
Karen replied, "No, not cool."

Nancy asked her, "What? Why not?"
Karen retorted, "Why do you think? Am I speaking Chinese in this house?" While Matthew only raised his eyebrows with a tilt of his head, Karen said, "Until we know Will is okay, no one leaves."
With a wave of one of her hands, Nancy said, "This is such bullshit."
From where he was sitting on the other side of the table, Ted said, "Language."
While Matthew only snorted to himself from where he was sitting on one end of the table, Nancy asked Karen, "So we're under house arrest? Just because Mike's friend got lost on the way home from..."
It was then that Mike turned to Nancy and asked her, "Wait, this is Will's fault?"
While staring directly at her daughter, Karen said to her, "Nancy, take that back."
Nancy replied, "No!"
Then Mike told Nancy, "You're just pissed off 'cause you wanna hang out with Steve."
While Matthew looked around the table with a smirk now on his face, Ted said, "Steve?"
While leaning forward in her chair, Karen asked, "Who is Steve?"
Mike told Karen, "Her new boyfriend."
It was then that Nancy yelled, "You are such a douchebag, Mike!"
From where he was sitting, Ted yelled, "Language!"
With his eyebrows raised, Matthew watched as Nancy got up from the table and went to walk towards the staircase.
And while Nancy continued to do just that, Karen said to her, "Nancy, come back." When Nancy only continued to walk towards the staircase, Karen yelled, "Come back!"
With a sigh, she turned to her youngest daughter, Holly, and said to her, "It's okay. It's okay, Holly. Here, have some juice, okay?"
It was then that Ted turned to Mike and asked him, "You see, Michael? You see what happens?"
Mike replied, "What happens when what?! I'm the only one acting normal here! I'm the only one that cares about Will!"
Ted told him, "That is really unfair, son. We care."
It was then that Mike hit his hands on the table and stood up from it before also walking away and heading towards the staircase.
And while Mike did that, Karen yelled, "Mike!"
In turn, Ted said to her, "Let him go."
Not long after he said that, Karen turned to Ted and said to him, "I hope you're enjoying your chicken, Ted."
While Karen went to grab Holly and take her away from the table, Ted asked her, "What did I do?" When Karen didn't respond and started to walk away from the table, Ted said, "Hey! What'd I do?"
It wasn't until after Karen had also left the room that Ted turned to Matthew and asked him, "Do you know what I did?"
With a shrug of his shoulders, Matthew replied, "I don't know, man. I'm just trying to eat my chicken here."
With a nod of his head, Ted said to him, "Good on you, son. Good on you."
Then Ted went back to eating his chicken, while Matthew simply eyed him after receiving a pat on the shoulder from his father.
As he went to walk into Nancy's room, Matthew said, "Hey, Nance, I've got to grab one of your—"
It wasn't until he saw Steve Harrington sitting on Nancy's bed with index cards in his hands.
And while Steve slowly turned his head to look over at Matthew, Nancy quickly got off of her bed and dragged Matthew into the room before she shut the door behind them.
As soon as the door was shut, Nancy asked him, "Are you insane?" When he didn't respond, she asked him, "What the hell were you thinking?"
He told her, "Well, I was thinking that I could grab one of your empty notebooks and take it for myself." When she only scoffed in response, he said to her, "Believe me, Nance. Last thing I wanted to do was walk in on whatever the hell you and Harrington are doing. I'd rather not get scarred for life because of it."
As he went to move her out of the way, he said to her, "So, if you'll excuse me, I've got to grab one of your empty notebooks." When she quickly grabbed his arm, he told her, "Or if you kick me out of your room, I could always go tell Mom and Dad that you snuck Harrington into your room. And I'm willing to bet that Mom won't be that happy with you when she finds out that you snuck your asshole of a boyfriend into your room."
With a scoff, she said to him, "Fine. But just be quick."
As he went to walk even further into her room, he replied, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll be out before you know it."
While Matthew started to look for an empty notebook, Steve asked him, "What the hell do you need one of her notebooks for, anyway?"
With a sigh, Matthew replied, "You know, Harrington, it's for a little something called minding your own business." As he turned to face Steve and plastered a grin on his face, he said, "I hear it does wonders for stuck-up guys that have a lot more hair than they could actually afford."
When Steve only narrowed his eyes at Matthew, Matthew chuckled to himself before he pulled a single notebook out from behind his back and said, "Got it." Then he started to walk towards the closed bedroom door as he said, "I'll see you around, Nance."
It was only when he was about to open the door that he suddenly stopped when a hand was quickly pressed up against it.
With a raised eyebrow, Matthew turned his head to stare down at Nancy, who asked him, "You're not gonna tell Mom and Dad?"
With a scoff, he replied, "What, about you sneaking Harrington into your room?" When she only narrowed her eyes up at him, he said to her, "Oh, please, Nancy. Like I'd waste my time talking about Harrington of all people. I'd rather puke my guts out than talk about him."
With her eyebrows furrowed, she said to him, "What? But you said—"
He told her, "I say a lot of things. But that doesn't mean you've got to believe every single thing I say." When she only stared up at him, he said to her, "I'm the asshole of the school, Nancy. Did you really think that I'd be any different at home? I mean, come on. I do have a reputation, after all."
Nancy's eyes had narrowed the second she saw that smirk on his face before she scoffed to herself and said to him, "Whatever. Just get the hell out of my room, you jerk."
With a raise of his eyebrows, he said to her, "Gladly."
Then he opened the bedroom door and walked out of Nancy's bedroom, without so much as bothering to close it behind himself.

World Wonderer
Mari was happily whisking up some butterscotch slice when our story suddenly whisks her into another world. You'd think it'd be the beginning of another classic Isekai adventure, but it soon becomes clear that things won't be so easy...Her nerdy-teenage-genius summoner has trapped her in his room, no one speaks English, and Mari's gut is NOT prepared for a whole new world of bacteria. Can Mari overcome the travel diarrhea, learn a whole new language and escape before she develops Stockholm syndrome? Most of all, can she learn to flourish in a world so different, yet so similar to her own? ****** Author note: This story is written in response to all the unrealistic, plot-armour Isekais out there. I believe that adventures are more fun when there are unexpected surprises and challenges to be had. That said, this is my virgin voyage into writing an ongoing fiction, so please take care of me @[email protected] Constructive critisms, suggestions and typos in the comments would be most appreciated! Respectfully, Mhm
