"You're new here, right?" one of the people on her floor asked when they came up to her cubicle.
"Yeah?" she said, unsure.
The lighter skinned woman scoffed, smiling at her. "You're obviously nervous, although, being the boss' personal assistant is stressful. You're his fifth assistant in two months. A lot of pressure."
Thank you, I feel better.
"Thanks--"
"What's your name?" she asked her. The woman's hair was long and obviously fake. She wanted to refer her to her hairdresser, honestly.
"Crissle. Crissle Sinclair," she said, turning on the computer in front of her. It was Crissle's first day, and she planned on making a good impression. She had heard how hard it was working for Malik -- by Zayn Malik, of course -- already, but she wanted and needed a challenge.
Plus, the money was good.
"I'm Andrea," the other girl smiled, holding out her hand to shake, "accounting, that's me."
"Bet I'll be seeing you a lot," Crissle stated, shaking her hand firmly before logging on and waiting for the computer to load.
"You will, Erica."
"My name is--"
"Erica, these files need to be looked over and returned to me within the next hour. I expect it to be done within that time," his voice startled both women. A stack of papers landed on Crissle's desk with a thud as her boss -- everyone's boss -- Zayn Malik passed by without glancing in her direction. He walked into his office and closed the door.
She looked at the door he went through and frowned.
"Erica," Crissle looked back at Andrea and she laughed, "that's the name of his first assistant. She had an emotional breakdown because of this job and ever since then, he's been throwing assistants away like yesterday's newspaper."

This was going to be harder than I thought.
"So I'll be Erica forever?" Crissle asked with a roll of her eyes.
"Maybe," she shrugged, "if you last longer than a few months. Maybe. But anyway," Andrea smiled at her, backing away from her desk, "welcome to Malik -- by Zayn Malik, of course."

The Last Science
[This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Nestled deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, something is emerging. Kept in absolute secrecy, it seeps into a fading town, quietly shared from person to person. For Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate, this discovery could mean an escape from his empty existence. To Rachel DuValle, perpetually underestimated and dismissed by the world, magic represents a chance to become something much greater than herself. In the face of an unsuspecting world, their decisions shape the growth of a budding society discovering untold power. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. Want this story in smaller bites? Click here! The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. Each chapter is pretty long (average ~8000 words), so find somewhere comfy to read. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Please use your best judgment, and don't be afraid to take breaks and come back later. I'll still be here! This story will also be published weekly at my website (https://etzo.li). There will be no differences in content, but slight differences in formatting. Feel free to read at whichever site or app you prefer. Sick - An Irondad Story
"I looked over at my usually gallant father, who had dried tears streaking his face. I felt awful, not because I was in pain, but because I made my father heartbroken. I never wanted him to feel this pain." Or, Peter's battle with a terminal illness that will destroy so much more than himself. This was a school project, so I had to cut some real MCU things out, but other then that the names stay the same. 06/20/2022 AN: Hey guys. This story is five years old at this point. That's pretty crazy. While I have moved on to other fandoms in that time, it's great to see people interacting with this. I'm not sure how well it holds up, especially with Creep by Radiohead being in it (idk what I was thinking lmfaoo), but I'm glad to see that some people still enjoy it. Have a good one. :)
