They say that when Destiny strikes, it'll strike you as hard as a mountain. But, when it comes to Destiny for those in prophecies, it hits you with all the forces of every element out there. It hits you when you least expect it, and once it does, life is never the same. The path we're all on, it's bound to get harder the farther we go. But, it'll be worth it in the end.
~
My eyes slowly flutter open, but a blinding light consumes my vision. Eventually, though, when my eyes do adjust to the light, I find myself staring up at the ceiling.
Huh... Why am I staring up at the ceiling?... The last thing I remember is being outside... But, I don't remember the outside world having a ceiling.
I go to sit up, but something heavy, warm, and soft on top of me stops me. A blanket. Huh... Who put this on me?..
I sit up, look around my new surroundings and try to process everything. "I'm in a room... that's strange..."
The sound of a door sliding open catches my attention as I quickly turn to the person. An old man walks into the room, holding something behind his back. My body tenses with nerves, not knowing what his next move is. He's so calm... I can't even read his expression... is he going to keep me, prisoner, here?! Am I being kidnapped?! What is happening?!
The old man chuckles, seeing my face contort into many different expressions. He sits down in a chair beside my bed. From behind his back, he pulls out a tea set and places it ever so carefully onto a table. He pours the tea into two cups, handing one to me. I stare at it for a moment before slowly taking a sip of it. My eyes widen with pure joy and quickly gulp down the rest of the hot drink.
He simply chuckles, smiling at me. After I finish gulping down the tea, he then finally speaks. "Good to see you a bit more lively than when I found you."
"I..." I look at the teacup, before deciding to speak. "W-Well... the tea was pretty good heh."
He smiles softly. "I'm sure you have a lot of questions. But, first, how about we eat? I'm sure you're very hungry."
I study him carefully. Should I really trust his offer? I barely met him... I don't know anything about him... And yet... Something is telling me I should. That he will help me. He does seem.. trustworthy after all. He hasn't done anything to hurt me. So, I trust him. "Alright. Food sounds good right about now!"
But, the second I step out of bed, I fall face-first onto the floor. "..."
"Uh, child-"
"My legs don't wanna work. I don't know why. It feels like I haven't walked in hundreds of years."
"..Would you like me to carry you then?"
I stay quiet for a moment. "...Yes please."
He smiles softly as he gets up from his chair and picks me up. He carries me on his back, heading out of the room and to the kitchen.
After a few moments of silence, I eventually ask him the first thing on my mind. "So, where did you find me?"
After a second of silence, he speaks."Outside on the Monastery's steps. You were out cold child."
"Oh. Alright then..."
"Do you remember anything before you collapsed onto them?"
Trying to think back is like trying to understand math, for some reason, all I draw is a blank.

I shake my head. "The only thing I remember is catching a glimpse of the outside sky. That's it."
"That's quite alright, child. There is plenty of time to regain your memories."
"Thank you uh... what's your name though? You never did tell me."
"It is Wu Garmadon. And yours?"
I hesitate for a second before a name suddenly pops into my head and floats right out of my mouth. "Y/n."
~
As we ate some rice and beans, I started to ask him a bunch of questions now that my stomach is full. Of course, he had an answer for every one of them.
"So where am I?"
"In the Monastery, my family's home. It has been here for centuries."
"What do you do here? Seems kinda lonely..."
"I usually train people like you to become ninjas. But, my days of doing that have long been over. Now, I simply just enjoy the peace"
"What are ninjas? I've never heard of them before."
"They are people who are trained in the art of Spinjitzu and who protect those who cannot protect themselves."
"Woah... That's very cool heh. Can I be one?!"
Sensei hesitates for a bit before sighing. He smiles. "Of course. It'll be nice to train some students again."
"Hmm... Do you have any siblings? There are a lot of rooms here so I'm curious."
"Actually, I do. I have an older brother, his name is Garmadon. And yes, I know our last name is also Garmadon but let's just say he liked our last name better than his first one. But, have you not heard of him before?"
I shake my head silently. "Are you two famous or something? This is my first time hearing about you both after all."
"I suppose you can say that. We are the children of the First Spinjitzu Master, so many people do know us. But, many do not like my brother that much. "
Something clicks in my head after he finishes his sentence. "The First Spinjitzu Master?"
"He was my father. He was a great man who made sure peace was a constant in Ninjago. In fact, he was the one who created everything around us, including this very building."
"He managed to do all of that? But how?"
"With the Golden Weapons of Spnjitzu, they're four weapons, and each one of them holds a unique element. There is the Staff of Quakes, holding the power to move mountains and the earth. Then there is the Nunchucks of Lightning. They hold powerful amounts of electricity, enough to energize Ninjago. The Shurikens of Ice, capable of freezing anything in their sight while being able to freeze an entire ocean. And, finally, the Sword of Fire. It is said that weapon burns brighter than the fire itself and is capable of melting anything."
My eyes light up, hearing about all of this. It all just sounds amazing. "Woah... that's incredible! Do you know where they are now?"
"I, unfortunately, do not as they were hidden away a long time ago to make sure they don't fall into the wrong hands. More specifically, my brother's hands."
"Aw, well it would've been cool to see them in person. But, at least they are hidden away at least."
Sensei simply chuckles, shaking his head. "But, now I have a question for you. After all, it's only fair"
"Oh? What is it?"
He takes a breath before looking me in the eyes. "Before anything else happens, would you like to stay here with me and train with me to become a ninja? Or would you like to go into the city? I'm sure we'll be able to find you a home with a nice family."

My eyes widen. I haven't thought about that part... Do I want to stay here? I did say I want to become a ninja... Or do I want to go live a normal life? Because it seems like if I stay here, some crazy things might happen... Do I want a life that's full of craziness where I could potentially die?..
I lower my chopsticks, giving him a smile. "I wanna stay here with you. Living a boring life sounds like no fun. Besides, I did say I want to become a ninja."
He chuckles to himself before getting up from his seat. "Then how about I show you around the Monastery?"
"Okay! Sounds good to me!"
~
We walk through the long hallways to the Monastery as Sensei tells me about each room and more about the elements. Though, I stop in front of four rooms. Each one has some sort of symbol drawn on the door. When I look at them, it feels like I already know them. Ice... Earth... Fire... and Lightning... Huh.
I turn to Sensei, pulling on his sleeve. "What are these rooms?"
He smiles softly at them. "Those are the rooms of those who will one day inherit the Golden Weapons."
"So they're gonna live with us?"
"Yes, they will. They will be family."
Another room catches my eye. "Who's that room belong to? I don't know that symbol on the door."
"That room belongs to the Elemental Master of Water. They will appear but their powers will yet manifest until much later."
I nod but I spot another room. One that piques my interest. One that has a green door. "And what's that room?"
"That's the room of the Green Ninja. He will one day save Ninjago from a great evil. He too will live here with us."
Great Evil? I wonder what that's about...
"These guys sound pretty important. Are they part of some sort of prophecy?"
He chuckles to himself. "You can say that. But, for now, they aren't ready to show their faces yet."
Sensei stops walking in front of a door, stopping next to him. I look at him curiously before he opens it up revealing a large room filled to the brim with flowers. My eyes widen in awe. "And who's room is this?... I..."
"This is your room. This is all for you."
"I get my own room too?! This is so awesome! How did you..."
I just shake my head and run into the room, heading over to every flower I see. I smell each one before jumping onto my bed feeling the softness of it take over me. "This is so cool!"
"I'm glad you like it, Y/n. I had a feeling you would like them."
"It's so purple! How did you know my favorite color was purple?"
"I guess it was a hunch."
"Thank you, Wu! I love it all so much!"
~
That's how Sensei Wu and I first officially met. A few days after that, he took me on as his student. He seemed hesitant at first but decided it would be best if I knew how to fight just in case something bad happened. Who knew that would come in handy in the future?
It was strange learning how to fight because when I went through the motions, it was almost as if my body was already trained to do most of these attacks. For some reason, every time Sensei would try to teach me a new attack, I was already one step ahead of him. It was strange, to say the least. But, hey, I went through the lessons quickly and if everything went well, maybe I would become a Sensei just like him.
Eventually, though, Sensei thought it would be a good idea to get me a weapon. I already practiced with some but this weapon would stay with me forever now.
"So it's finally time for me to choose a weapon Sensei?"
"Yes, it is. And whatever you decide, I'm sure it'll suit you quite well."
I smile brightly at that comment as I'm led into a room filled to the brim with all sorts of weaponry. Swords, shurikens, nunchucks, scythes, hammers, staff, and so much more. It was like a candy store for sharp things. I walk over to each weapon and gently place my hand on each one, trying to feel for some sort of connection. But, the only one that comes close is the sword but even then, it doesn't feel right. It just didn't feel right to hold for some reason. I sigh, looking over at all of the weapons before turning to Sensei and shaking my head. "None of these feel right Sensei. They just... aren't right for me."
He walks over to me, placing his hand on my shoulder. "Then, how about I bring you something that you might feel more comfortable with?"
I nod curiously as he walks out of the room. I wonder what he's going to bring out?... What if I don't get a weapon!? Ninjas need weapons! I won't be a true ninja without one! I-
Sensei interrupts my thoughts when he comes in, holding something behind his back. I stare at him in confusion. "What did you bring Sensei?"
He smiles softly and pulls out two golden fans. My eyes widen in awe as he hands them to me. I hold them ever so carefully in my hands and I stare at them. An engraving catches my attention though. Two simple letters. Y/f/i M.
I turn to Sensei, showing the engravings to the old man. "Sensei, what are these engravings here? They look like initials."
He examines them for a moment and shakes his head. "I have no idea child. It must be from the blacksmith who made them and signed their work. A lot of the weapons I own are like that."
"Huh..."
"So what do you think Y/n?"
I swing the fans around, feeling my body adjust to the weapons. My arms move swiftly, almost as if I had used these weapons before. This is strange... I've used weapons before but never used them as my own. But, this... it feels like I've been using them forever. They feel right.
"They're perfect."
~
Ever since picking out my weapon, Sensei has amped up the training. Sure, it's been hard but it's been nice too really. I really do like this form of structure in my life. It feels like something that I need in my life because knowing this path that I've chosen, I'm gonna need it.
I've learned how to become disciplined, trained in every form possible in the ninja ways, and even managed to learn Spinjitzu! Though, that was a bit more of a crazier day. Sensei spent the entire day bandaging my arms and wrapping my face in bandages because the first time I attempted it, I got hit in the face with one of the training dummies and somehow managed to break my nose.
That wasn't fun. But, we managed to laugh it off.
Of course, I mastered it eventually, but that first day will forever be engraved in my brain.
Though we may have trained a lot, we always had days where we could just have some fun. I was very low maintenance. On some days, we would walk around the neighboring villages. On those days, we would get anything necessary we would need for the Monastery and at the end of it, we would always get ice cream. Those types of days were always my favorite. I loved having ice cream. Plus, it would be a nice excuse to leave the Monastery considering it gets boring at times.
On other days, we would help local villagers with anything they need help with or simply talk with them. Sensei did say I needed to build up my social life and that was the best way to do so. Learning more about the villagers' lives was pretty cool since it was very different than the one Sensei and I live. Each time we helped them, we would always stick around to chat with them since sometimes we just wanted to hear from them more. Though, something interesting happened when we talked with one of the villagers during a visit.
We visited one of Sensei's few friends, Aki, to get some food that she prepared for us, knowing that we love receiving her food. When we enter the home, we sat down and chat for a while as she cooked some food. Though, usually, I tune out of their conversations since it always turns into tea convos for some reason. I may love tea too but never to Sensei's extent. Though, something they said caught my attention.
"So how is your nephew?"
Nephew? I didn't know Sensei had one... I didn't realize Garmadon even had a child or wife...
"He's doing quite alright. He recently sent me a letter telling me how he has been, how he dearly misses me and the candy shop he loves so much. I do wish sometimes I could bring him out of that school, and bring him to the Monastery, but Misako would be upset if I were to do so."
I turn to Sensei now because he just mentioned his mother now too. "You have a nephew? And Garmadon has a wife?"
Aki turns to me confused, "You didn't tell her about them? I would've thought you did. She's been living with you for a few weeks already."
Sensei sighs. "Well you see, he's Garmadon's child. Though, he left when Lloyd was very young to make sure he wouldn't be influenced by his own behavior. He wanted the best for Lloyd after all. That left Misako alone to take care of him but she's an archeologist so she moves around a lot. She took care of him until he was old enough to be put into boarding school."
"Really?... What do they look like?"
Sensei pulls out a photo from underneath his straw hat, handing it to me. "I only have a photo of Lloyd, but he's about your age. Nine years old I believe, he's a few months older than you. Well, I'm pretty sure you are nine years old because of how you look."
I stare at the photo, looking at the young, blonde boy. He's wearing a light blue uniform and a black cape. His green eyes catch my attention though. Although there's a smile plastered on his face in the photo, his eyes look sad. I wonder why that is.
"Huh... So that's Lloyd." I say as I hand the photo back to Sensei.
"You know, he really looks a lot like my father when he was much younger."
Aki smiles, placing plates of food in front of us. "I wonder when you are finally going to meet him Y/n. He may be troublesome, but he's a delight to have around."
"Time will only tell. But, for now, let's eat."
~
Staying with Sensei turned into weeks, months, and then years. I liked the routine that we had. It was quite peaceful, and quiet even if it got boring from time to time. Sometimes I would wonder about my past and how I ended up with Sensei, but other times, I would just wonder why I decided to entangle myself with Sensei's life. I knew something big would eventually happen, but at the same time, I just couldn't bring myself to think about it more. Something in my head just said it wasn't the right time yet. I just decided to enjoy life right now because if I didn't, I had a feeling I would regret it.
Eventually, though, Sensei did tell me that a great evil is fast approaching and we must prepare ourselves for the future. Whatever this future will be, it seems crazy really. It's like all the training Sensei gave me was worth it because now, things are about to get serious. So, I'm hoping I'm ready for when it happens.
I step into the hallway with all the rooms of the people I will meet in the future. I stare at all of the doors, each one leading to the room of an elemental master. I wonder what they are going to be like when we meet them soon...
I turn to the Green Ninja's room. Something about that room... It feels like they might be closer than they seem... I wonder what the future will hold for them... Hopefully a good one.
~
Sensei took me in the second I appeared on his doorstep and took care of me without any hesitation for so many years. I promise myself that I would repay him for all of the kindness he had given him. After all, not everyone would do that for a random kid. But now... With everything changing so quickly. I don't know what the future is bound to hold anymore. I don't even know if I'm going to remain standing myself.
Especially now that I saw Sensei get eaten by the Great Devourer.
