《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 113: The Council's Asking

"Ah, Y/n, it's good to see you still come around." Master Kenobi caught me off guard.

Occasionally, I like to head back into the Jedi temple and catch a glimpse of the youngling's training. I would start to think if the baby would end up the same. Training to be a Jedi formed a smile on my face.

"I will never leave this place alone." I weakly chuckled. Obi-Wan chuckled back; his blue eyes glimmered with the sunset.

"And I hope you never do," he added. His palm extended out, leading in his follow.

We didn't talk much for a few seconds, making things awkward. In between the silence, I made sure my eyes were nowhere near Obi-Wan's body, but I felt his on mine. Almost like he had a bundle of questions to ask me, but he didn't know how to blurt them out.

"How have your dreams been since our last talk?" and bingo, he finally asked.

It had only been two days since I decided to ask Obi-Wan for advice. I never thought he would ask any more questions. I shouldn't be surprised, Obi-wan has a kind heart, and at times, I wonder if revealing the truth would be beneficial.

"I haven't had any since our last conversation." I took a deep breath.

It was true, but then again, it had only been just two days. Ever since my talk with the Chancellor, it seemed to have dissipated.

"Well, I'm glad I could help." He replied; my head turned to look at the side of his face. He had a smile that seemed genuine. However, his advice wasn't comforting but confusing. In fact, it wasn't him who helped at all, but the Chancellor.

"I owe you and the Chancellor for the advice," I chuckled, hoping he would get the hint, and he did.

His pace slowed down, making mine slow down as well. Until he came to a complete stop.

"Is there a problem?" I asked, my brows furrowing. He had a strange look, as if he was disappointed I went to anyone else.

"The fact of the matter is you are becoming too close to the Chancellor." He replied.

Startled, I didn't know what to say. Becoming too close to the Chancellor? Were they observing my every move? I wasn't in the Order nor a Jedi to them.

I am a Senator; of course, I had to be close to the Chancellor.

"I'm sorry?" I asked for clarification.

"Has the Chancellor ever taken an interest in your Jedi affairs?" He asked; I thought hard about any conversation The Chancellor and I had. The only time he had ever brought up the Jedi was recent.

"I am no longer a Jedi, Master Kenobi." I huffed under my breath.

"Right. However, the Council doesn't like it when he interferes with Jedi affairs." He voiced. I walked a few steps forward, turning around to face him. Still confused about what this had to do with me.

"Y/n, I am on your side. I didn't want to put you in this situation." He added. My head definitely tilted more than it had before.

"What situation?" My eyes peered right onto his blue ones.

A gasp escaped his lips before he answered, "You were once a part of this Order. You were once a Jedi and still hold all knowledge." He seemed hesitant to continue, "The Council wants you to report on all the Chancellor's dealings. They want to know what he's up to. You're a Senator now and have access to all meetings." He finally spitted out.

So the Council finally needs me. After many months, not even my own Master had the courage even to ask.

"They want me to spy on the Chancellor?" I scoffed. He seemed to hint that I didn't like the idea. If they were to ask me months ago, I would have been eager to do so, but not after recent events.

The Chancellor had helped me so dearly in the process of pregnancy; spying on his affairs and dealings seemed unfair.

"That's unethical on my part," I added on.

"We are at war, Y/n." He stated. As if I didn't know what had been happening around me. Yet I didn't understand why the Council would find me the perfect candidate for this situation.

"As part of the Senate, I find this matter pressing." I shook my head, turning my back on Obi-Wan.

"Y/n, you are the closest one to the Chancellor and the only one who was also a part of the Order. You have to entail on both parties." He said in a low tone as other Jedi members walked by us.

"The Chancellor is not a bad man, Obi-Wan. He befriended me. He's watched out for me ever since I became pre-..." my throat became dry, and a slight cough escaped my lips before the following words did. "Ever since I became a Senator," I added. A subtle tone of embarrassment crossed over my forehead.

It was as though I said I had failed in the Jedi rule book.

"That is why you must help us. Y/n, our allegiance is the Senate, not its leader who has managed to stay in office long after his term has expired." He further explained.

"The Senate demanded that he stay longer." I, too, explained, trying my best to back the Chancellor without thought.

"Yes, but use your feelings, Y/n. Something is out of place." He mumbled some more as more Jedi walked past.

I had become irritated at this point, "The only thing out of place is the Council finally asking for help. Not only against the Republic but against a mentor and a friend. That's what's out of place here," I mumbled back but let out the last part in a higher voice.

Obi-Wan's eyes grew a bit bigger; it was unexpected.

I felt the guilt quickly overtake my body, "Why are you asking me this of me?" I asked before he had the chance to reply.

"The council is asking you."
