《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 106: Betrayal

"Take a deep breath," I reassured Clovis as we walked off the ship. We found ourselves in Scipio. Today was the day the power transfer would be lent onto Clovis's hand. He was excited, but he didn't let it seem noticeable.
It was chilly like usual. The snow piled over the mountains and fell off the buildings in small amounts occasionally.
We walked down the ship's railing walking towards the Banking Clan members.
"Welcome back to Scipio, Rush Clovis. Our Separatist government has great hope for you." Bec Lawise greeted. He was a Separatist senator, and I know not all of them are wicked like Count Dooku, but I couldn't help but disagree with what they stood for.
"Thank you, Senator." Clovis bowed down slightly.
"Only you and Senator Amidala will be allowed to monitor the exchange proceedings. No forces on either side will be allowed into the Neutral Zone." He added.
I looked around to find Separatist droids surrounding us; I followed the rules this time. My arms traveled to my waist, grabbing my lightsaber and holding it out to the guards.
"Ah, a lightsaber?" One of them asked in shock.
"You still keep it in hand?" Clovis asked, his brow raised in confusion.
"I find a lightsaber better in combat," I responded. I wasn't used to blasters, and I wasn't about to start.
"Huh, you're rather impressive, I say," Clovis replied. A soft smile found itself on my face.
"Senator Amidala, we will be right here if you should need us." I looked back to see my people, the clone troops I once went to war with, smiling at the fact that they still consider me family.
"Thank you, Commander," I replied.
We made our way to the tower's upper levels heading straight into the council room. I haven't been in this room for some time but now found myself exchanging power. The five council members stood themselves in the middle of the room, Their backs facing the door entrance, oldy postured.
"It is with great disappointment that I implement the following verdict. By decree of the Muun people, the five representatives standing before me are found guilty of embezzlement. They shall be improvised forthwith, and control of the banks shall transfer immediately to Rush Clovis under the guidance of the Muun government." The new Muun leader spoke out. He was the new face on the screens we once looked up to.
We watched the original five walk out of the room in handcuffs. Their faces filled with disgust as their shoulders passed ours. Clovis then stepped into the middle of the room, prepared for what was to come next.
"We are grateful to you, Clovis, for everything you have done for the Muun people." The leader spoke. A smile formed on my face; he deserved some happiness. Knowing everything from the past, he seemed to be the perfect fit for the job.
"To have lost the banks would have been a historic disaster." He concluded.
"I would like you to know I have no interest in controlling the banks. I am here to re-establish order." Clovis pleaded. All the council members applauded in enjoyment.
"Do you think our friend is up to the task?" Bec whispered into my ear. I paused for a mere moment, "There are a few men I have met in my career as a Jedi and now Senator who are more dedicated to a cause than Clovis. Once he decides what he is fighting for, little will stop him from achieving it." I answered back in a whisper.

"Let us hope you are right, for all our sakes," Bec replied. I nodded my head in agreement. I knew Clovis wouldn't go back to his old ways; he couldn't. He already made so much progress; it would be disheartening.

The transfer was a success, and quickly after a moment of break, it was finally time to see Clovis behind the screen. Another meeting between the Separatists and the Republic, this time to finally talk about the banks reopening.
Standing again in the same room, I was confident in Clovis's actions towards the Republic. He had become unbiased and did what was good for everything. And now with the funds. I could finally help those in desperate need—the ones whose homes got destroyed amid the battle.
In the middle of the room stood Bec and me, waiting for new information. And on the large screen appeared Clovis; a smile automatically found itself on my face.
"By the new order of the Traxus Division and in an attempt to stabilize the banks, it is essential that the interest rates on loans to the Republic be raised immediately," Clovis spoke out.
At that moment, I felt my heart drop. It was the same feeling I had a few days ago with Anakin. To be let down was always devastation.
The smile that was once on my face vanished as I realized all hope was gone.
"What?" I was confused. I looked around the room, hoping it was all some mistake.
"But you can't do that!" I yelled. I looked deeply into the screen above my head. My eyes fully closed onto his screen alone.
"Clovis!" I shouted his name, but he seemed to ignore my yells on the screen.
"Clovis!" I yelled once more, not getting any response.
"What are you doing?" I shouted, pleading for something back. But instead of a response, he shut off all communication. His screen turned black.
My heartfelt was crushed; he was still the same pathetic person Anakin had warned me.

I returned to the same room Teckla, and I once had together. My thoughts drowned in sadness. I should have trusted everyone who doubted his intentions, but I couldn't help but feel as if he had changed.
The wind blew against my cheek, a cold breeze. I had let down the people of the Republic, and I have let down Padme. I was supposed to lift the Republic but found myself doing more damage.
I wasn't fit to be a Senator; no, I was fit for a Jedi. It was the only home I knew I belonged to, but it was already too late. I dug myself a hole that was impossible to dig myself out.
I sighed, now would be the perfect time to lean against Ani. To feel his comfort, I knew if I told him anything about what had just happened, it would spark another argument. An argument I wasn't mentally prepared for.
I held onto my stomach, remembering I had one person I could count on to tell my thoughts. It seemed stupid, but the baby was the comfort I needed.
However, something else caught my attention. The comlink on the table had been going off for who knows how long. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't realize.
"Senator Amidala, come in, please." Thorns voice came through. The clone commander who was here for my protection seemed to be distraught. I quickly picked up the comlink holding it in my hand, "What is it, Commander Thorn?" I asked nervously.

"We're under attack by the Separatist garrison. It looks to be a full invasion." He spat out.
"Invasion?" I questioned. My right hand immediately flew to my belt but noticed something was missing. My lightsaber was no longer on my hilt. I had given it to Clovis for the Neutral Zone to be Neutral. I had no weapons; I only had my hands.
"We can't get to you. I suggest you get to a ship as soon as you can." Thorn commanded as his voice went out. The explosions started right afterward. I rushed towards the balcony seeing our massive republic ships go out into flames. I needed to do something fast, and the only thing I had in hand was a comlink.
I dialed in the Chancellor's office as quickly as I could. A wave of relief washed over my head to get ahold of the Chancellor once he appeared onto the holographic screen. "Chancellor, our garrison has been attacked by the Separatists, and it appears they are staging an invasion on Scipio." I spat out as quickly as I could.
"An invasion? What do they hope to achieve?" The Chancellor questioned.
"With this news, the Senate will vote immediately to attack Scipio." The Chancellor then added. I looked off into the direction of the explosions seeing as more and more Separatist ships had arrived. It was only a matter of time before everything left of the Banking Clan would be left in flames.
"It appears war has already come to Scipio. There are explosions and massive bombing." I voiced.
"I want you off that planet immediately." The Chancellor ordered. I looked around the room, knowing I was helpless. "I can't," I replied. Anakin's body appeared onto the Holocron as the words left my mouth. I felt my heart flutter, but not in a good way.
It was the first time I had seen him since our break.
"Surely you can get a ship." He commented. I closed my eyes before looking back onto his. "General Skywalker, I'm afraid I'm trapped; I have no weapons on me," I replied. The doors of the pen were being forced open. Someone or something was coming in, and it didn't care what it had to do.
"I'm sorry, An-" I added before a Separatist droid had put its mechanical arms around my shoulders, forcibly pushing me backward. "Let me go!" I grunted. I took one of the droid's hands, pulling harshly and flipping it onto its back. It's back landing on the wood coffee table. I didn't have a lightsaber, but I had some training. Quickly, I ran down the hall, being as sneaky as I possibly could.
One wrong step and everything could be over. I hid behind walls and pillars until I saw the back entrance. Perfect, I thought to myself. But as soon as I opened the doors, I found myself surrounded by commando droids.
Great, Obi-wan was right; a Jedi's weapon is their life. And I handed mine to a traitor.
. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .
The droids took me into an elevator, taking me to the highest level of the Banking Tower. Perhaps I will be reunited with Clovis; maybe this is all a part of his plan.
The doors of the elevator opened, and my eyes focused on Clovis. I felt my jaw clench the same way Anakin's has whenever he saw him.
"Don't touch me!" I yelled as the droids harshly took my arms and moved me towards the center of the room. The force of the push knocked me onto the ground, holding my stomach to protect the baby.
"What have you done to her?" Clovis asked the droids. As he cared, I scoffed.
None of it made sense. "Clovis, what is going on?" I asked, looking up into his face. His green eyes looked into mine as they did countless amounts of time.
"I didn't want this, Y/n." He replied. His eyes slowly closed. I was still lying on the ground, holding my stomach closely, not trusting any of the other droids or things in this room.
"Why don't you tell her what you did want and how you got it." An evil, wicked voice approached. I looked at the dark-clothed figure, seeing it was Count Dooku. My breath hitched immediately, feeling as though I was losing my breath.
"Dooku." I managed to force it out. My eyes flickered between the both of them. I finally understood what was going on; he sided with the Separatists once again. He was a traitor.
I stood up from the ground pushing away any touch of affection Clovis tried. "Y/n, this is not what it seems," he argued, but I couldn't help but stare at the man who forced pain upon me. "Hasn't she joined our cause? Clovis here told me how instrumental you were in getting him to power." Dooku bragged.
"If I had known-" I began, but his rough voice came right in. "Either you are with us, or you are against us. Arrest her!" Dooku shouted. My hands became fists in a matter of seconds. Anger filled my body, but also did my Masters's voice.
Approach the matter in a calm approach, the Jedi approach.
"We can't do this, Dooku. The Separatist Senate will never approve." Bec argued. My eyes wandered around the room until my eyes landed on a clanker. He held a blaster weakly and nervously. Clankers were never the smartest. So in a swift movement, I grabbed the gun from its hands, pointing it directly at Dooku.
I had to admit it wasn't the smartest choice, but it was one I could think of. His hand reached out using the force, trying to dictate the movement of the blaster. However, I resisted. "Two can play that game, Dooku." I sneered. Holding the gun as steady as I could. "Very well then." He took the other blaster from the commando droid and quickly and without thought pointed it straight onto Senator Bec.
"No, please!" I shouted, but through my cries, his blaster fired, killing him immediately. Out of the grips of the force, I dropped my blaster and ran towards his body. He was dead, all because of me.
"Are you insane? This was not part of the deal." Clovis snared.
"What deal?" I shouted. What sort of deal would anyone want with Count Dooku. I didn't understand what made Clovis go back into that dark place he promised he would never fall into.
"What have you done here, Clovis?" I pleaded.
"He's given us the banks. Gone are our debts, and gone is any credit for the Republic." Count Dooku replied. I touched my forehead, fearing I was going to faint and hoping all of this was just some weird dream, but it wasn't.
"All of your idealism was just a front." I seethed between gritted teeth. "I trusted you, Clovis!" I shouted. His eyes peered over to mine, the stars behind his body forming a nice background. "There was nothing I could do." He mumbled. I shook my head in denial; there was so much more he could have done.
"Everyone has their price, my dear." Count concluded as he stepped inside the elevator, the doors shutting before him. I didn't care to look back but instead looked at Clovis, who was a coward not to look me back in the face.
