《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 92: Investigation

"Bowmani's file, Master Jedi." The three tiny droids surrounded what seemed like a desk filled with cables and cameras.
"He's a munitions expert," Ahsoka recalled.
"Jackar was the foreman over all of the gunships, bombs, and weapons. His specialty was nano-weaponry. "Ani sighed. His frustration was overwhelming him. Whoever did this was extremely smart at hiding their tracks. However, this plan was too planned out for a munitions expert.
"We've got to find this guy." I voiced as we walked up to holocrons filled with footage of the explosion. The droid in charge of watching over the footage was so-called an "expert" as well. He viewed the footage at high speeds, impossible for anyone even to have a chance to see a face.
"Isn't that going a little too fast for you to make sense out of it?" Anakin questioned the droid. It seemed he had the same thought as I did. How can anyone make anything out with that kind of speed?
"It is simple data. At this pace, I can view hundreds of hours of footage." The droid replied. I raised an eyebrow, surprised, "Well have you been able to find Jackar?" I questioned, placing my hand onto the table of the Holocron.
The droid lifted his goggles, "No." he shook his head. A slight sigh came from all our mouths. "Y/n and I will gather some Jedi and search the Temple. If he's still here, he might be planning another attack." Ani suggested, his eyes drifting over to mind giving me a slight smile which I returned.
"Instead of Jedi, I have droids that can do the job much faster," Russo suggested. We didn't bother arguing; there was no point. Russo was right; the speed those droids can handle was much more than we can.

The three of us walked straight up the Jedi council room, but before we headed in, I stopped right in the middle of the hallway. "Go ahead, Ahsoka; I need a moment with Master Skywalker." I smiled warmly. She bowed and entered straight away.
"What's wrong?" He asked and grabbed onto my hands, bringing them to his chest as he kissed them softly. "Anakin, I don't think it's a good idea to head inside, I know I'm still welcomed, but seeing my Master, I know he is disappointed." I sighed. I felt it, the tension, the disappointment. I let my Master down, and I couldn't bear to see his face, not yet.
"I'm sure Master Windu isn't disappointed." He responded. He placed his hand onto my cheek, caressing it slowly, before kissing my forehead. "I'll be right back." his hands left the grips of my hands as he entered the room.

As the meeting had ended, I got news of a senate meeting that would be happening soon. And it wasn't a pretty one, and it would for sure impact the Jedi to great lengths.
"They want to decide whether the military police will need to become involved in the investigation," I commented. Anakin and Ahsoka looked disappointed. "They can't do that," Ahsoka responded aggressively. She sat on the edge of the couch, her head cupped inside her hands.
"Ahsoka," I sighed, sitting next to her side, "Clones died in that explosion, maintenance clones and civilians. The senate noticed all these things." I placed my hand onto her back. "I just can't believe-" But before she could finish, Anakin's intercom had started to blink.
"Master Skywalker, we have found Jackar." Russos' voice came through, and quickly Ahsoka and I stood from the couch immediately. "Lockdown all exits so he can't escape," he responded.

Ahsoka quickly walked into the hallway, leaving Anakin and me alone again. It was so weird that there was so much time to be around him all of a sudden, and it was okay. I didn't have to leave for missions, and If I wanted to, I could go and call it Senate business.
"Are you okay?" Anakin asked. His hands placed themselves onto my shoulders, moving his body closer in my direction. I was confused. Did I look miserable? I felt good and happy but troubled. "I'm alright, just confused on why anyone would want to do this" I silently sighed. My eyes made their way down towards the ground when his gloved hands swiftly grabbed the bottom of my chin, raising it towards his face. "Everything will be alright, my love." He whispered.
It was a whisper that could make anything feel better. The sort of comfort you need when you feel dull or lost. His words marked so profoundly.
I nodded my head, stepping onto my tippy-toes to reach his lips, taking them into mine. Soft as usual and tender with every kiss.

We walked back down, heading our way back to Russo. His droids did their job and at a very fast pace. When we had opened the clinic's doors, body bags and quite a few laid on medical tables, and automatically, my brows furrowed themselves. I should be used to seeing people lie dead, but I wasn't.
"It's okay," Anakin whispered into my ear. His left hand lowered itself onto the back of my waist, caressing it as we walked towards the droid. "Where is he?" Ani asked. His tone was rather aggressive and impatient.
"Well, part of him is here," Russo replied. He waved his hand, insisting we follow his lead. "I don't think now is a good time to joke," Anakin replied once more, still aggressive. "This is all that remains of Jackar," Russo commented.
We looked onto the table, and all that laid was his chopped-up hand. "His hand?" I questioned. "The rest of him exploded," Russo replied. I looked to my side to see a shocked Ahsoka; her eyes were full out black. "Because he was so close to the bomb," she asked. She begged for some truth, and that was an answer that didn't involve the Jedi.
"Because he was the bomb," Russo replied. The droid placed his overly sized goggles onto his head, grabbing the tablet that also laid on the table. "What's this?" Anakin asked as he held up droid-translated information.
"The connection we were looking for to the explosion to the hanger." He then again replied. That's when it connected. "The Nano-droids were in his bloodstream? How?" I asked.
"Oh, this just keeps getting better and better." Anakin sarcastically answered, making me roll my eyes playfully. "We need to search Jackar's home for evidence. Ahsoka stay here in case there are more leads. Ani and.... Master Skywalker and I will go to Jack's home." I coughed, hoping that mistake wasn't noticeable.
"Sounds like a plan, Senator," Ahsoka replied, grabbing the tablet back from the table and inspecting it furthermore.
