《Forbidden Love || Anakin x Reader》Chapter 89: A New Role

Obi-Wan kneeled in silence. His heart was torn, as was mine. I hadn't known Satine for the longest time, but I knew that could have been me. There was no way of staying in the order any longer, the crippling feeling that anything could go wrong strayed in my mind. The what-if was all that I could think of. What if something were to happen to me and put the baby in danger?
We walked right into the opening of the cell tower, still in the cuffs of the Death Watch. We were defeated and honestly tired. But right as we got to the opening, one of the guards had been shot. My eyes stared directly into the direction of the fire.
"It's the rebels!" one of the guards shouted. My eyes wandered in every direction, looking for the so-called rebels. Until a girl with short orange hair landed on the dock, she began to twist and punch every guard that seemed to get close to her. She had fast movement and was very skilled.
"Sorry, I don't believe we've met. You are?" Obi-Wan asked as he got himself up from the ground.
"Bo-Katan. I'm here to rescue you. That's all you need to know." The girl replied. She held our lightsabers in her hand, dismembering the cuffs with the blade. "Sounds good to me," I commented, grabbing my wrists, smoothing the ache over that the cuffs had left.
"Have you guys ever used one of these before?" Bo-Katan asked. She held two jet packs in her hand. I had never used one, but it seemed easy enough, right?
"Uh, no, but Master Kenobi and I are fast learners." I chuckled nervously. I just hoped something didn't malfunction, and we plummet to the ground. Bo-Katan weakly smiled in my direction, "I'll have your back." she replied. She placed both the jet packs on our back and quickly and cautiously took off into the direction of our broken-down ship. I swear Anakin will never hear the end of this one.

The packs were easily maintainable, but not even reaching the dock, we had already had some more Death Watch guards on our tail. "Obi-Wan, get the exit open," I suggested as we landed on the dock of the front doors. He quickly ran to the door's control panel, but it seemed like a lifelong to open.
Upon waiting, the Death Watch guards and our fellow new friends began to blast each other. Rockets and explosives were thrown, and as for myself, my only weapon was my lightsabers, and the best that I could do was deflect any blaster shot I could to my ability.
The doors of the dock had slowly opened, and the sun's light had crept in, but what was on the other side of the door was also a battle.
"Maul must want you dead," Bo-Katan commented as we all three watched the fight that had unraveled before us. "You have no idea." Obi-Wan sarcastically replied.
We made our way towards Bo-Katan ships, dodging and fighting back every guard that stepped in our way. "Go back to your Republic and tell them what has happened." Bo-Katan voiced as she stopped in front of the ship's door.
"That would likely lead to a Republic invasion of Mandalore," Obi-Wan yelled, still deflecting the blaster shots that had tried to bash our face. "Yes, and Maul will die, but Mandalore will survive. We always survive. Now go." Her voice had strung quite strongly in my mind. That's when all the puzzle pieces came together.
"You're Satine's sister, aren't you? I'm sorry." I commented. She didn't turn around but stopped her movements, surprised by what I had said. "Let's go," Obi-Wan whispered, taking the sides of my shoulder and turning me around towards the ship.
It hasn't settled in my mind what had just happened. But I thought long and hard the whole way back to Coruscant. Maul was alive, and Satine was dead. That phrase was on repeat, and I wish it could entirely leave my mind, but even that was so hard.

Upon arriving on Coruscant, I didn't bother going straight home. Anakin was still on his mission with Ahsoka, and being home wasn't something I wanted to do. Instead, I headed straight into my sister's office, where she usually attended her Senator duties.
And I was right, the doors of her office slid right open, and there she was, sitting in her office chair looking straight at her computer.
"Y/n you're back." She looked up, and surprisingly she was content. I would have assumed she would be angry that I had gone onto another mission after our talk on Naboo. "You're in a good mood," I replied, my eyebrows raised in utter confusion. I sat down on a chair that looked straight forward at her face.
"Tell me about the mission." She asked; a fake frown had formed. I took a gulp, wondering what kind of lie I should tell, but knowing her, she'd most likely find out the truth from one of her senator friends. "Well, I saw Maul, and Satine is... dead." I quietly replied. There was a moment of silence. I knew it wasn't what she had expected, the Death of Satine, of course. They were friends, a relationship that was more intense than mine was with her.
"Oh," were the only words she could manage to form. "Padme, I'm so-" but before I could create a proper sentence, she sat up from her office chair quickly. "This is exactly why I want you to leave the order. You could get hurt, and you could hurt your baby!" She yelled, surprising me.
"You can't just think of yourself now. You have a family; you have me, our family, your child, Ani." her tear ducts began to get watery, and I felt terrible. She was correct; being a Jedi was no longer an option at this point. "So what? I leave the order and what? Live my life as a stay-at-home mom?" I let out a loud sigh. I didn't want to be just anything; yes, being a mother is something, but I wanted to help those around me all my life.
"No, actually, I... I'm giving you the role of Senator of Naboo. I think I had served my time the best I could, and the people of Naboo, and of course the Queen love the impact that you had made so far even without the role of Senator." she walked over to my side, placing her hand onto my shoulder. I was shocked; how could she give up her role so quickly.
"Padme, I can't just take your place," I replied.
"Yes, you can. I have made arrangements for this to happen." She smiled weakly. Arrangements?? So she had already planned for this to happen?? "Wait, what? You did all this behind my back?" I sat up from my chair, pushing her hand off my shoulder.
"Y/n, you need to understand that you can no longer be a Jedi. Attachment is forbidden, you know that. I'm giving you the easy way out. A way you, your child, or even Anakin can't get hurt." She replied; her voice was harsh and not in any way sweet talking.
She was right.
