《A Solangelo Alphabet》X - Xrrr! (Grrr? Arghhh?)

Bang! Bang!
Kids were about to drive Nico crazy. It was Halloween night, and CHB did this thing every Halloween where the older campers in each cabin handed out candy while all of the younger campers trick-or-treated throughout the camp. Some of the Hermes kids even set up a haunted house.
All of this, of course, was all fun and games until you had to pass out candy to every single kid at camp. They were all annoying and would not wait for you to come to your cabin door after knocking once. "William Solace! Get out here or I'm starting without you!" Nico yelled. Will was in the bathroom changing into what he called 'a costume Nico would die for'. "Sorry! One sec! I'm hurrying!" Will yelled back.
About two seconds later, the door swing open and Will jumped out. Literally. He was wearing a pirate costume with a bandana on his head, an eyepatch over his right eye, and a hook on his hand. "Xrrr!Whacha think?" He asked Nico, who was trying not to laugh. "Well, you look... Um, you're a cute pirate." Will glared. "Cute. Cute? Cute?! Nico! Babe! I'm not 'cute'! I'm... Mighty! Awful! Powerful! Brilliant!" Nico rolled his eyes. "Also, I heard you had a thing for pirates." Will remarked. Nico grinned. It was true. "I guess," he said. "But- when you first came out-" Will cackled, interrupting his boyfriend. "Sorry, bad wording. When you first jumped out of the bathroom, you said 'xrrr'. Isn't it 'arghhh'?" Will tilted his head slightly to the side. He had a confused look on his face, which reminded Nico of a puppy. "Well, I've always heard 'xrrr'." Will told Nico. "Yeah. I've always heard 'arghhh'. Or maybe 'grrr'." Nico said. Will shrugged. "Ah well. 'Xrrr', 'grrr', 'arghhh', it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that I've got you here." Will said, wrapping his arms around Nico. The dark haired boy snorted, causing Solace to frown. "That was cliché." Nico said. "Okay." Will murmured, leaning down to kiss Nico.

Bang!
Someone else was banging on the door. "Go away!" Nico yelled, making Will smile. The cabin door swung open, regardless of what Nico had just said. In came Jason, Percy, Annabeth, and Piper. Jason and Percy were dressed as Superman and Batman while Annabeth and Piper weren't dressed up at all. "Aw, guys, I think we interrupted something." Piper said, seeing Will's arms still wrapped around Nico. "I'm sure we did. But we just missed our wittle Nico so much!" Jason exclaimed. Percy giggled, and then eyed Will's costume. "Bro! Sick costume!" Will grinned. "I'm glad someone likes it." He laughed. "Same to you guys." Percy crossed his arms. "Well, I wanted to be Aquaman, but Jason made me be Batman instead." He fake-pouted. Nico cleared his throat. "Oh. Um, we were just... going to the haunted house. Travis and Connor said it was the best it's ever been this year. We wanted to see if you guys wanted to come. " Annabeth said. "But if not it's fine." She added quickly. Nico glanced up at Will. "You know what Annabeth, I think we'll just stay here, if that's alright." Will grinned like an idiot. "Yeah." Jason and Percy fist-bumped and laughed. Piper suppressed a smile; Annabeth's grey eyes sparkled. "Yeah Nico. That's great." She said, and she lead the others out of the cabin, shutting the door back tightly behind them. Will pulled Nico close again and Nico rose up on his tip-toes. "Let's try this again, shall we?" Will giggled as Nico's hand snaked around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
