this is short sorry. disarm by bry. i'm going to his concert this november :)

I listen to your voice to send me asleep

And kiss my first love with you on repeat

I never worshipped a god

But you were close enough

How Nico Di Angelo had ever found the small country singer Will Solace, was a mystery to this day. If you asked Nico, he'd say he was listening to the radio whilst driving, and the singer had come across on the local radio.

But no matter how he found this singer, ever since that day Nico found himself falling asleep with ease when he listened to the singer. He would often be woken in the morning by his mom, who'd scold him because he got tangled in his headphones again.

The songs calmed him down whenever he felt anxious or irritated. However, not even Will Solace could calm down the nervousness he felt before his first kiss. The kiss that just so happened to help him figure out he was gay. Because, gods, girls were not his thing.

Okay, maybe he was a bit obsessed. More than obsessed. His sisters constantly joked that Will was his personal god. So maybe it did feel like that a little bit. But never once did Nico feel ashamed of his 'obsession'.

And I killed off any gender expectancy

And filled a little book with your poetry

It was the sacrifice

That I had made for us

It was kind of stupid, but Will inspired most of his music of a boy that sat on the other side of the classroom, a silent mystery, yet to be uncovered. It seemed that he inspired Will's poetry.

Maybe some part of him hoped that in some miraculous way they would start talking and fall in love. Maybe, maybe this boy listened to his music, although he didn't look it.

But I never would have met you

Had I known you'd be this hard to crack

I never would have thought of you

To be like that

Had Will known before they met that Nico was so complicated, so hard to reach, he never would have started talking. Who would have thought that this boy had so many layers to uncover, so many defences to get through? Will is glad he didn't know though

Now I am battling

Through the walls of your thick skin

So disarm

Yeah disarm

They met in the strangest way possible. Who would have thought that singing in a restroom would be their first meeting?

Will had just closed the stall door when the door to the restrooms opened and singing drifted through the room. Will was intrigued by the melodious voice that was singing one of his songs. He hesitantly opened the stall and saw no other than mystery boy standing in front of the sinks. He approached the row of sinks, but before he could reach it the boy looked up and via the mirror into his eyes. Mystery Guy stopped mid-sentence, mouth open and eyes wide.

"I'm s-sorry. I'll go now... I just heard you sing my song and I thought it sounded so good and umm... yeah bye."

He turned to leave but a cold, and slightly damp hand encircled his wrist and tugged. He turned back and came face to face with the boy again.

"You're Will Solace, the country singer? You go to my school!?" the boy's eyes were still wide and his hand still on Will's wrist.

"Umm... yes, I think so. Why do you look so surprised? What's your name?"

Will tried his best not to hyperventilate. He was talking to his muse who didn't know he was exactly that but listened to his music and knew him.

"You think you're Will Solace or you think you're a country singer? And I'm Nico, Nico Di Angelo. Nice to meet you. I love your music."

Will blushed scarlet. "Thanks. I kind of inspired a few, no a lot, on you? Shi... ne a light that sounded weird."

Surprising both of them, Nico barked out a short laugh. "Don't worry. You aren't the creepiest person I've met in my life. The internet doesn't help either."

A silence followed, in which Will tried to read the boy standing in front of him. But it seemed, his soul was sewn shut, and it would take time, dedication and care to open him up and uncover him.

"Here is my number. I have to get back to class. But text me. I want to be your friend if you'll let me."

Nico accepted the slip of paper and slid it into his pocket. "I might just do that."

"Nico, I disarmed you." The two were sat in a local park, Nico resting his head in Will's lap, the latter running his fingers through the raven fringe. 'Friends' had never been reached. They surpassed it instantly and went to flirting instead. When Will eventually got the courage to ask Nico out properly, the Italian had quickly accepted. It took even longer for Nico to open up, and from day to day Will still worked to keep this beautiful person from closing off, and taking a beautiful sight from the world with it.

"What do you mean?"

"I wrote disarm about you. You were the person I sang about. But your walls are down, at least around me. And I'm glad. God, I love you."

"I love you too."
