《Solangelo oneshots》Stone hearts (2)

Have you ever had the feeling that you have no idea where you are when you wake up? The moments of total disorientation before you realize you're at a friend's house, or a family member's? Normally this feeling will subside quickly. When I opened my eyes this feeling did not disappear. It was only joined by confusion and fear.
The feeling in my body returned, and my legs gave out. Before my body could make contact with the ground, a pair of arms wrapped around my torso. They were warm and strong, easily holding my entire body weight, and the skin sent a tingling up my arms.
I wanted to look up to see the person who had saved me, but my eyes stopped halfway, when I caught sight of my saviour's clothing. Not the normal loose fitting pants and stiff jackets, but blue pants that tightly wrapped their legs and a colourful shirt normally worn by simple peasants, but a lot more expensive looking and softer feeling.
"What the fuck is going on here?" the male voice above me is low, and had a musical hint to it. The only thing that was off was the words that had just been spoken. It made it seem like I, the Duke, was wrong here. I, the Duke, could never do wrong.
"I just got flashbacked to medieval times, find a burning key around my neck, and somehow bring you, who supposedly lived 300 years ago, to life from statue form."
Only then I met the eyes of the speaker. They here blue, like seas and skies, but had gold in them like stars and suns. Everything from this boy seemed to be blue. The points were he was touching me gave a lilac glow, and the further I travelled my eyes up my arms, the redder my aura got.

"I was collecting taxes, when I started to freeze on the spot. And what do you mean with 'lived 300 years ago'?" my voice sounded weak and hoarse, as if it hadn't been used in a long time.
As mu companion started speaking again, I slowly took in my surroundings. Where only minutes prior had been peasants, shops and animals, now there was nothing but a collection of ruins and my 'saviour'.
"I'm sorry but what is your name and where am I?"
"Oh, I'm Will and you are in the ruins of the town you used to control. You were turned to stone by a witch about 300 years ago. Now I've saved you, but according to that thing 'You will stand, as cold as your heart, until someone melts your heart' but I have no idea what this means. Before you're going to get angry at me, I'm taking you home. Suck it up."
With that Will put me back on my feet and pulled me towards something. I slowly processed the information I had just been given.
'You will stand, as cold as your heart, until someone melts your heart' the first part had already happened, but when the witch said it at the time she indicated that someone wouldn't physically melt my heart, more like make me fall in love with them. Of course up until a few minutes, no 300 years and a few minutes ago, I hadn't thought the words to be very serious, but it had gone at my own expense. Not only had I lost roughly 300 years, I had probably lost everything I'd worked hard for.
"Nico, are you listening to me. I said you have to ride with me on my horse. I think you'll be fine with it but I thought I'd let you know." Only then I noticed a white stallion, slim and fierce, tied to a tree, being petted on the nose by Will.

He quickly mounted his horse and offered me his hand. Before I could hesitate I mounted the horse as well. We took off.
Within seconds we were galloping through the trees, the wind flying through my hair, the rhythm of hooves against the sand road in rhythm with my heartbeat. The flowing feeling of the moving horseback calming me, pleasing my body. It was familiar, something that was still understandable at this moment.
After the forest came a wide stretch of grass, and then out of nowhere, a black stripe of stone, leading straight across the grass field. "This is a road. We also have cars, which are like carriages that work without horses. It's kind of hard to explain."
After following the 'road' for a while a large mansion came into view, resting at the base of a collection of hills. The location was familiar and so was the mansion, with some unrecognisable features.
"This is my mansion. What happened!?"
"Well, after you 'disappeared', my ancestor took control of the village and kind of got all your stuff, so also your house and money. I'm about to inherit it, if I marry before my birthday next week."
I was about to answer when the doors opened, revealing two people, a man and a woman, that were most certainly Will's parents.
"William, I see you have brought your groom to meet us."
What?

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
