Bella: First, a big congratulations, I'm so happy for you, I really enjoyed the pre-released song 'MORE' and the music video was so cool as well. It was before you decided to appear on this show I happened upon j-hope's solo album and saw the pre-release music video. The concept was very different from what I expected

Bella: J-HOPE, why did you decide to become a singer?

J-hope: I don't know, destiny? I think it was destiny. In the 5th grade talent show, my dance got really good reactions

Bella: What dance did you perform?

J-hope: Pa! papapa!

Bella: Techno music!

J-hope: I danced to techno music and my friends loved it. That made my heart flutter. That was it "Was I born for the stage?". That's how I decided to become a singer. That was very early I used to feel shy and embarrassed about my dream

Bella: Why? In what aspect?

J-hope: If you say "I want to be a singer" then people ask you to sing and I can, but it seemed embarrassing at that time so I hid my dream to become a singer and when somebody asked, I'd go I just... "I Want to be a dance musical actor". It was a hidden, shy dream when I was young

Bella: But you're not hiding it anymore

J-hope: After proving myself, I grew in confidence. Things like passing an audition made me more confident

Bella: You were confident since then?

J-hope: I told my friends I was a singer

Bella: How old were you when you auditioned?

J-hope: I was a middle school senior when I passed the JYP open audition. Starting from that audition I auditioned for Big Hit and I was very lucky, the timing was right

Bella: You must have had skill from a very young age

J-hope: I'm a bit shy to say it myself but I suppose I did have some skill and sometimes... how can that person do so well? I tried to learn from people. I was shy, but I asked for help

Bella: How did you do that?

J-hope: That takes a lot of courage

Bella: It does, there's something I wanted to ask you. Who is J-HOPE shy with?

J-hope: I'm not sure I don't feel any shyness right now. I definitely feel more nervous before meeting a new person. I'm pretty good after actually meeting them

Bella: You worry it might be awkward

J-hope: Yes

J-hope: Then I guess I'm not shy you're totally right

Bella: Let's have a serious talk about the album. As MC, I already listened to the entire album. The album title is Jack in The Box

J-hope: That's right.

Bella: It's a toy where a doll pops out

J-hope: Yes, that's right

Bella: Why did you choose this title?

J-hope: When I was coming up with my stage name I was with PD Bang Si-Hyuk and RM "Hoseok, what do you want as your stage name? I wanted to include H, O and also J from Jeong Hoseok and PD Bang Si-Hyuk came up with j-hope. That name touched me like destiny

Bella: J-HOPE sounds really good

J-hope: Then I started to assign meaning hope is the last thing in Pandora's box. So you will be the last hope of BTS and when we go solo pop out like Jack In The Box

Bella: Wow, I just got goosebumps. I really got goosebumps. How big of a picture is this?

J-hope: It was like my destiny. If you look at the music I performed until now were all inside the box and now they're popping outside the box to show what J-hope felt from experiencing the world and the various dark sides to those aspects are also in the album

Bella: It's a very meaningful album name

J-hope: Yes

Bella: And it suits you very well

J-hope: Really?

Bella: The toy... the Jack In The Box toy. It seems like... a surprise. It can surprise people. It feels like it can give people a fresh surprise

J-hope: Right, that's so true. I wanted to try a different style and surprise people with J-HOPE's new look. It have taken much courage to tone down the dance performance that you're most famous for and try new areas with new music and performances. From a musical point, thank you for listening

Bella: It was really good and what I thought while listening to the album was that the sounds are somewhat heavy. It feels like hard hip-hop. Then I read the lyrics I noticed they were very positive. There were lyrics that were sincere like diary entries and I thought it might have been difficult to write something like that
