Suho: Hi, this is SUHO of EXO. Bella, you started the show with EXO's Overdose. I was really surprised.

Suho: I thought that you would perform Growl.

Suho: Growl is the most famous song of us while love shot was covered many times due to its dance moves and etc. but not a lot of people covered Overdose compared to other songs. Since you covered the song, it felt so new and good.

Bella: It's been a while since you came out on singing show. How do you feel?

Suho: Showing up in front of the public, EXO L, Find the Melody with Bella after 2 years makes me a bit nervous and excited at the same time.

Bella: With nervous and excited mind, after a blank period, this is the first show you came up on public.

Suho: That's correct.

Suho: That's right. On April 4, my 2nd mini album 'Grey Suit' will be released.

Bella: Oh already? When did you get discharged from military?

Suho: On February 14. In the military I was already structuring the album and after the discharge I ran without stopping until now.

Bella: You've been working on it since you were in the military.

Suho: Yes.

Bella: Today is March 29, right? So now is before publicly releasing your album.

Suho: Yes. That is it makes me more nervous to sing in front of the production crews and you.

Bella: Woah! I know I had narrow-mindedness but when I first heard the title 'Grey Suit', I obviously thought that it would be a dance song. You really hit me in the head.

Suho: As if I will wear a grey suit and dance...?

Bella: Yes, something like Michael Jackson. The name sounded like in

Suho: In this album, I don't wear a grey suit at all.

Bella: Really, it's also being narrow-minded to think of that. I'm sorry.

Suho: No, no. So the 2 years of time I couldn't meet up with fans made me feel like I'm stuck in grey time span while other things in the world flow colorfully. So I felt like I'm the only one wearing a grey suit so I named it that way... and finally when I meet up with my fans I will take that suit off.

Bella: Oh that's why the colorful cloth means...?

Suho: It's like I'm feeling like being born again.

Bella: I heard that you participating in writing lyrics on all songs of this album. It would be fun to hear about difficulties or fun moments you encountered while writing.

Suho: I wanted the whole album to be a single story. It's also good to have fun lyrics on each of the song but I made sure they all had a consistent theme and the theme was about 'time'. In 1st and 2nd tracks, I expressed about how 'time' feels for me while in 3rd and 4th, it was about love in terms of time.

Bella: That's a cool approach.

Suho: 5th and 6th is about time people spent without me.

Bella: Um... So basically the last two songs are songs for fans?

Suho: I could say that the whole album is for the fans but 6th tracks is truly a fan song. I wrote about the emotions I had at the end of the concert after saying bye to the fans.

Bella: I know what that is. Ah!

Suho: The title of the song is "Seventy-fifths of a second" meaning a 'moment'.

Bella: Seventy-fifths of a second? How did you get the number 75?

Suho: It means a 'moment' and that's the minimum time frame.

Bella: Any memorable lyrics?

Suho: I'll read it for you. "The time that felt long and arduous because it’s 1/75th of a second that everything seems like an instant In this moment dancing in the moonlight fly over the long night".

Bella: Oh!

Suho: Before there was a time I said the moments eventually go past and even the times we spent in the concert do too but it could be in our memory for a long time. When fans shake the fan lights, the color is grey. It shines like a moonlight so I melted that part in the lyrics.

Bella: If I were the fan, I would be touched so much.

Suho: You said you were a fan.

Bella: Of course. That's why I'm touched now. I was touched so much.

Bella: After talking with you for a while, I'm curious about your music taste. How is it and is it related to your album?

Suho: It is related with great extent.

Bella: Your album 'Grey Suit' is bunch of your taste of music.

Suho: That's right. I like brit pop. I listen to Radiohead and Coldplay a lot. I think I usually listened to brit pop or rock. In Korea, I listened to NELL and Black Skirt.

Bella: Ah! Then, what did you prepare for solo cover song for today?

Suho: I prepared one of my favorites NELL's Good Night.

Bella: Alright.

Bella: While listening I felt that you have strong pressure in your voice. You know what I mean, right?

Suho: Right!

Bella: Like you need some Kegel exercise... You really use the pressure so well and that's why your pitch is good too. I felt that you're a prepared musician. I want to know personally why exercises you usually did.

Suho: I consistently receive vocal lessons and check my sound. Through doing musicals, I studied more about voice and I felt that I need to consistently tune my voice in just as guitar needs to. I thought about why I didn't tune my voice before and self-reflected too. From that time on I felt the need of trimming my voice and have been doing it when time allows.

Bella: Since you talked about musicals, among dance songs affected by EDM or rock, songs affected by rock or ballad, and musical songs, what were most difficult to you?

Suho: I honestly think in order to sing really well, dance song is the hardest one.

Bella: Ah, I feel it.

Suho: For musical and ballad songs, they provide me with enough time to express my voice and emotion since they have relatively slower tempo. However... for dance songs, they give me less time to express what I want to express.

Bella: Having a lot to express but with less time.

Suho: Yes, it's a homework to solve.

Bella: I heard that before your debut, you majored in acting. Were you from Korea National University of Art?

Suho: Yes, I went there but dropped out. I couldn't do both work and university work so I dropped out.

Bella: I'm busy too but I have to doing both you know. I'm going to university tomorrow. My Mom gonna mad at me.

(Laugh)

Bella: Anything acting helped you in music activities?

Suho: I feel like acting, dance, singing and even instruments are all organic so I have to think about the person I am not I need to think about the perspective of a person I want to express. So when I expressed things musically the range of expression became wider, I think.

Bella: Yes, not only in terms of entertainment but everything in life helps me do music.

Suho: I agree.

Bella: Doing music also helps me in other parts of life too.

Suho: Yes, I agree. It's organic

Suho: I prepared Yoon Jong Shin's "Instinctively". Before debut... I mean even before I became a SM trainee... about 17 years ago?

Bella: 17 years...?

Suho: 17 years ago when I was in first or second year of middle school

Bella: Before I entered elementary school...

(Laugh)

Suho; At that time, I was casted by SM and was thinking about whether I should do an audition or not. Yoon Jong Shin was an acquaintance of my father's friend. I kindly asked him to spare a time for me... and he said I think I will do well and suggested me to worry about continuing and I got in through SM audition at first try.

Bella: That's amazing.

Suho: That's right. From that time on, I became a fan of Yoon Jong Shin. I liked all of his songs but I really liked "Instinctively" so much that I wanted to perform this song somewhere. To sing this song, it requires tough singing style. So instead of singing alone... BELLA I know is...

Bella: I have no toughness in me at all.

Suho: I thought that you have toughness while being cute at the same time so I thought it would be nice to sing with you.
