THE END OF PRANKS
[ ☼ ]
am, Elena and Dean sit in a booth, Sam looking at his laptop. Dean reaches up to the 3D artwork of a fisherman holding a big fish and pulls the cord. The fisherman's mouth moves up and down and an extremeley annoying laugh plays. Elena shakes her head.
Sam pulls the cord to stop it. "If you pull that string one more time I'm gunna kill you." He says.
Dean, deadpan, stares at Sam while pulling the cord again. Sam immediately stops it, glaring. "Come on man, you need more laughter in your life. You know you're way too tense." Dean says.
Sam gives Dean another dirty look. Dean sighs. "They post it yet?" Dean asks.
Sam moves the laptop around so Dean can see it and stabs at his salad angrily. "We've learned from reputable sources that Mordechai Murdock has a fatal fear of firearms. All right. How long do we wait?" Dean asks.
"Long enough for the new story to spread, and the legend to change. I figure by nightfall iron rounds will work on the sucker." Dean says.
Sam holds his beer out to Dean, who lifts his own and taps it. "Sweet." Dean takes a long drink and Sam starts grinning. Dean goes to put the bottle down but it is stuck to his hand. Sam cracks up as Dean stares at it, confused.
"You didn't." Elena and Dean say at the same time, but she was smiling.
Sam laughs and holds up super glue. "Oh, I did!" He exclaims. Dean shakes his hand while Sam reaches to set the fisherman laughing again.
t the Hell House, The two cops are searching the grounds with their torches. "I'm telling ya, I heard something. Coming from over there." Cop One says. The noise of the fisherman laughing can be heard. "See? See? There it is again."
"What is tha..." Cop Two starts. They find the fisherman stuck in a tree, laughing.
Dean, Elena and then Sam enter the house on alert, guns drawn, and begin a methodical search, staying back to back. Well, Elena didn't have a gun. Dean didn't want her with one.

Dean readjusts his gun hand. "I barely have any skin left on my palm." Dean snarks.
"I'm not touching that line with a ten foot pole." Sam admits.
Dean shines his torch in Sam's face so he winces, then moves into the other room. Sam follows. "So you think old Mordechai's home?" Dean asks.
"I don't know." Sam says.
"Me either." A new voice says.
Sam and Dean spin, pointing their guns at Ed and Harry. "WHOA! WHOA!" Ed yells.
"What are you trying to do, get yourself killed?" Elena asks.
"We're just trying to get a book and movie deal ok?" Ed says. From the basement comes the sound of knives being sharpened. Sam and Dean are immediately back on alert. "Oh crap." Ed says. He and Harry crowd in close behind Sam and Dean with their camera. "Ah guys, you wanna...you wanna open that door for me?"
"Why don't you?" Dean asks.
Mordechai bursts through the door holding an axe and screaming. Sam and Dean empty their gun chambers. He holds on, then wavers and disappears into mist. Sam and Dean wait a beat, then take off to ensure the other rooms are clear.
"Oh God. He's gone. He's gone." Ed says.
"Did you get him?" Harry asks.
"Yeah they got him." Ed says.
"No, on camera, did you get him on camera." Harry asks.
"Well I..."
"Let me see it, let me see it." Harry takes the camera and flips it open. Mordechai appears, slams his axe through the camera, forcing Harry to the ground and disappears again.
Dean runs in. "Hey! Didn't you guys post that B.S story we gave you?" He asks.
"Of course we did." Ed says. Sam appears in the other door, gun at the ready.
"But then our server crashed." Harry says.
"Yeah."
"So it didn't take?"
"UH...mmm..." Ed and Harry say together.
"So these guns don't work." Elena says.
"Yeah." Ed says.
"Great. Sam, any ideas?" Dean asks his brother.
"We are getting out of here."

"Yeah. Great." Ed says. Harry and Ed run past Dean to the other room, where Mordechai appears again.
Screaming, they run to the front door but it is locked. Mordechai follows them. "Jesus Mary and Joseph." Harry says.
"The power of christ compels you, the power of christ compels you. THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!" Ed yells.
"HEY! Come and get it you ugly son of a bitch." Sam says. They fight until Mordechai pins Sam against the wall, axe across his throat.
"Get out of here, now!" Sam says to Harry and Ed.
"We're out of here..." Ed says.
Dean is in the other room splashing kerosene everywhere. Mordechai lifts Sam off his feet with the pressure of the axe at his throat. "Dean." Sam spurred.
Dean appears. "HEY!" Dean holds up a spray bottle and lights the gas, a plume of fire appears. "Go go go!" He yells. Sam runs past him, Dean and Elena follow, pulling Sam as he stops and leans over, holding his throat. "Mordechai can't leave the house, we can't kill him? We improvise." Dean holds up his lighter, flicks it, and throws it back into the room.
It bursts into flame and the boys run outside. "That's your solution? Burn the whole damn place to the ground?" Sam asks.
"Well nobody will go in anymore. I mean look, Mordechai can't haunt a house if there's no house to haunt. It's fast and dirty but it works." Dean says.
"Well what if the legend changes again and Mordechai is allowed to leave the house?" Elena asks.
"Well then we'll just have to come back. " They watch the house burn.
"Kinda makes you wonder. Of all the thing we hunted, how many existed just because people believed in them." Sam says.
am and Dean are hanging out by a picnic table at the trailer park. Ed and Harry approach carrying grocery bags. "I was thinking that Mordechai has a really super high attack bonus." Harry says.
"Man I got the munchies right now." Ed says, then turns To Sam and Dean. "Gentlemen."
"Hey guys." Sam says.
"Should we tell em." Harry says.
"Hey, might as well, you know, they're going to read about it in the trades." Ed says.
"So this morning we got a phone call from a very important hollywood producer." Harry says.
"Oh yeah, wrong number?" Dean asks.
"No, smart-ass. He read all about the Hell House on our website and wants to option the motion picture rights. Maybe even have us write it." Ed says.
They place their grocery bags into a totally overloaded car. "And create the RPG." Harry says.
"The what?" Dean asks.
"Role playing game."
"Right." Elena says.
"A little lingo for you. Excuse us, we're off to la-la land." Harry says.
"Well congratulations guys. That sounds really great." Sam says.
"Yeah. That's awesome, best of luck to you." Dean says.
"Oh yeah, luck. That has nothing to do with it. It's about talent. Sheer unabashed talent." Ed says.
They all nod at each other. "Later." They get in the car and start pulling off. "See ya round..."
Dean watches them leave. "Wow." He says.
"I have a confession to make." Elena says.
Both of the boys look at her. "What." Dean asks.
"I...uh...I was the one that called them and told them I was a producer." She says and bites her lip.
"How did you pull that off?" Sam asks.
Elena clears her throat. "Hi, is this Ed and Harry?" She asks in a deep voice.
"Yeah well I'm the one who put the dead fish in their back seat." Dean admits.
They all laugh. "And you said I couldn't keep up." Elena says and raises her nose to the air.
"I guess I was wrong." Dean says and smiles.
"Yeah, me too. This prancing is getting out of hand." Sam says. "Truce?"
"Yeah truce. At least for the next 100 miles." Dean says. They climb into the Impala and take off.

Apex Predator
Earth is a fairly small place, but it's all Bath has. It's the only home he's ever known for all of his 500-or-so-million years of life. One day, Bath realized his treasured Earth was being drawn into the next mass extinction ahead of schedule. So, fascinated by the humans and their quick rise to power (after all, setting off a mass extinction is a pretty sizable achievement), what's a nearly all-powerful, somewhat bored, morally ambiguous, savagely violent, shapeshifting alien entity to do other than assume the form of a human and do some front-line investigating? Little did Bath know he would soon stumble upon a mysterious human organization with a gate leading to planets eons away. And that's just the beginning... A story with aliens, intergalactic space travel, mind powers, and an abundance of adventure! Author's note: ON HIATUS! Hello and thank you for reading! Constructive criticism and grammar-policing are both appreciated. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are complete at 1271 pages! Part 7 is in progress! If you've ever read any other web serials, you might've noticed that authors get better with time (that is, their art or writing improves). Wutosama of Metaworld Chronicles noted that the first 20 chaps are always a mess. This is also the case with Apex Predator. The first two parts (ranging just under 30 chapters, or 161 pages) are absolutely subpar. While I have edited them as of 7-10-18, they require a rewrite, which is currently in the works but not complete. For a sample that gives insight into what the latter ~80% of the story's writing style is like, check out chapter 56. Vote for Apex Predator on Top Web Fiction! The Apex Predator Discord is here. Cover: original work done by me, the author, caerulex.

500 years into the future, technological progress has stagnated. Wracked by a series of problems like climate change, lack of resources and the innate human lust for war, the geopolitical landscape of planet Earth is radically different, and quality of life is far from what it was in the past. While technical development and research into realistically feasible space travel has made leaps and bounds, this has come at the cost of a world that is reeling from centuries of technical stagnation in other aspects of life. The establishment of a mining colony on Mars has led to the discovery of a new, rare material called sarinium; though it is extremely tensile and durable, it has a very low melting point. The discovery of this metal leads to large mechanical infantry- dubbed 'Spirit Striders', they are six to ten meters tall and as famed for the pride they provide a nation as they are a lethally mobile heavy weapons platform. The story follows the character of Marilin, who must both figure the enigma that is her past, and what this means for her allegiances in the future. Despite her genetically physical frailty, she seeks to gain power through a vessel that will channel her wish to change the world- the Spirit Strider. --- I hope you all enjoy my work. This is a story that I began writing over four years ago in my beginning years of high school, and have cast aside unfinished in the past two years. Though it is not up to my current standards, I hope you all may find some enjoyment in it. Happy reading.

Talin Greymarch attends the prestigious Sovereign Guard Shaman Academy, the greatest institute of learning for shamanic cultivation in the kingdom of Ilios. As he struggles with his day to day school life and cultivation, little does Talin know that he has fallen into the middle of a conspiracy that threatens to shatter the world once again. A merger of the tropes and stylings of Eastern cultivation or Xianxia with Western Sword and sorcery fantasy stories, Path of the Shaman seeks to blur the line between the two. My goal is to establish a believable fantasy world, and I want to pace the story so that I can do that properly. If that sounds appealing to you please give this story a chance. Release schedule: My schedule will be a little inconsistent due to my job, but I aim to release about twice a week.
