HELL HOUSE

am was in bed, trying to go to sleep. All he could think about was Elena. She had been on his mind ever since Dean told him that she had gotten jealous. It's been days since they had last seen Meg and Elena had been keeping her distance from him.

After many failed attempts, he gets up and walks outside. It was a bit chilly outside so he zipped up his jacket. He went to Dean's Impala and leaned against the passenger door. He looked up at the sky and closed his eyes.

"Jess, are you there?" He asks. Nothing happened as Sam opened his eyes and looked back down. "I just wanted to tell you how much I love you."

The wind blew and somehow Sam knew that it was some sort of sign. He didn't know if she was listening, but he hoped she was. "You must know Elena by now." He says and the wind blew again. "She's really great and is by far the best thing that happened, after you of course." Sam said and awkwardly put his hands in his pocket.

"I just wanted to ask you something." Sam said to no one. "If it was alright if maybe I could move on?" The wind blew mildly. "It's just, I've never felt this way about someone since you. Maybe it's a sign." Sam says.

The wind blows and he smiles. "So if it's alright with you, I want your blessing." Sam says. The wind blows again, harder this time. Sam looks over and realizes that the wind had blown the door open.

Sam stands up straight this time and suddenly, a big gust of wind pushes him a little forward. He understood that Jess wanted him to go inside. He walks slowly back to the Motel door and walks inside. The door shuts behind him. Sam smiles to himself. "Thanks Jess."

hree guys, one holding a torch, and a girl, walk along a muddy path. "Come on man, is it much further? I'm cold." Guy One asks.

"It should be just up here." The Guy with the torch says. A deserted cabin comes into focus through the mist.

"Whoa." The girl says.

"There we go." The Guy with the torch says.

"How'd you find this place anyway Craig?" Guy Two says to the torch guy.

"My cousin told me about it." Craig says.

"I am so not going in there." The girl says.

"Wuss'. We came all the way out here may as well check it out." Craig says.

"Let's just hurry this up and get back to the car all right? It's friggin cold out here." Guy One says.

Craig and Guy One move ahead. "Want me to hold your hand?" Guy Two asks the girl. Girl thinks about it then takes his hand. "Is there...anything else I can hold?" He asks her.

She hits him. "Loser."

He laughs. "Come on!"

Inside, the torchlight shows walls covered in weird symbols. "No way. Look at this stuff...Come on. It's this way." Craig says. They move into another room. "They say that it lives in the root cellar. It goes after girls. Always girls. It just, strings them up."

"They say? Who's they, where'd you hear this crap?" Guy One asks Craig.

"I told you, my cousin." Craig says.

"And where'd she hear it?" Guy One asks.

"I don't know. She heard it." Craig says.

Guy One smirks. "Whatever. Gimme that thing." He grabs the torch. He opens the door to the basement and goes downstairs. The others follow more slowly.

"Oh look. It's the evil root cellar. You know where Satan cans all his vegetables. Come on, get your candy ass' down here and see for yourselves. It's just a basement full of skank-filled jars in some crap farmhouse. I don't see anything scary. Do you?" Guy One asks.

The others join him and look around. They freeze, looking over his shoulder, terrified. "What? What is it?" He slowly turns around. A girl hangs from the rafters. He screams.

he Impala cruises past a sign: Big Texas Towing and Salvage yard. Dean is driving and Elena is drawing in the back. He looks over and sees Sam sleeping with his mouth open. He feels around then gently places a plastic spoon in Sam's mouth.

"Watch this." Dean says to Elena. Grinning, he flips open his phone and takes a photo, then turns the music up loud.

"Fire...of unknown origins...took my baby away!" Dean sings.

Sam jerks up, realises something is in his mouth, panics and waves his arms as he spits it out. Dean air drums along to the song on the steering wheel then looks over, grinning as Sam wipes his mouth and turns down the music.

"Ha ha, very funny." Sam says.

"heh heh heh. Sorry, not a lot of scenery here in East Texas, kinda gotta make your own." Dean says.

Elena laughs in the back. "Man we're not kids anymore Dean. We're not going to start that crap up again." Sam says.

"Start what up?" Dean asks.

"That prank stuff. It's stupid, and it always escalates." Sam says.

Dean smirks. "What's the matter Sammy, scared you're going to get a little Nair in your shampoo again huh?" He asks playfully.

"All right, just remember you started it." Sam says.

"Ah ha, bring it on baldy." Dean says.

Elena leans into the brothers. "I want in." She says.

"I don't think so." Dean says smiling.

"And why not?" Elena asks.

"These pranks get a little dangerous." Dean says. "We don't want a cutie like you getting your nails chipped."

Elena crosses her arms. "So you guys think that I can't handle it?" She asks.

"We don't think." Sam says. "We know you can't handle it." He says.

"I'll show you." Elena says and begins drawing furiously.

Sam shakes his head. "Where are we anyway." He asks.

"A few hours outside of Richardson. Gimme the low down again?" Dean asks.

Sam reads from something. "All right, about a month or two ago this group of kids goes poking around in this local haunted house." He says.

"Haunted by what?" Dean asks.

"Apparently, a misogynistic spirit. Legend goes, it takes girls and strings them up in the rafters." Sam says and Elena grimaces. "Anyway this group of kids see this dead girl hanging in the cellar."

"Anybody ID the corpse?" Dean asks.

"Well, that's the thing. By the time the cops got there the body was gone. So cops are saying the kids were just yanking chains." Sam says.

"Maybe the cops are right?" Dean asks.

"Maybe, but I read a couple of the kids first hand accounts. They seemed pretty sincere." Sam says.

"Where did you read these accounts?"

Sam gets a little embarrassed. "Well, I knew we were going to be passing through Texas. So last night, I surfed some local paranormal websites. And I found one." He says.

"And what's it called..." Dean drones.

"Hell hounds lair.com" Sam says.

"Let me guess, streaming live out of Mom's basement." Dean suggests.

Sam grins. "Yeah, probably."

"Yeah. Most of those websites wouldn't know a ghost if it bit 'em in the persqueeter." Dean says.

"Look. We let Dad take off. Which was a mistake, by the way. And now we don't know where the hell he is and in the meantime we gotta find ourselves something to hunt. There's no harm in checking this out." Sam says.

"All right. So where do we find these kids?" Dean asks.

"Same place you always find kids in a town like this." Sam says.

he Impala pulls up. Snippets of the people that were at the Hell House being interviewed. "It was the scariest thing I ever saw in my life, I swear to God." Guy One from before says.

Guy Two speaks from the serving hole. "From the moment we walked in the walls were painted black."

"Red." Guy One says.

The Girl sits at a table. "I think it was blood." She says.

"All these freaky symbols."

"Crosses and stars and..."

"Pentagons." The Girl says.

"Pentecostals." Guy Two corrects.

"Whatever, I had my eyes closed the whole time. She responds.

"But I can damn sure tell you this much. No matter what anyone says..." Guy One says.

"That poor girl." The girl says.

"With the black..." Guy Two says.

"Blonde..." Guy One says.

"Red hair, just hanging there." The girl says.

"Kicking!" Guy One says.

"Without even moving!" Guy Two says.

"She was real." The girl says.

"One hundred percent."

"And kinda hot. Well you know in a dead sort of way." Guy Two says.

Dean looks at Sam and Elena with eyes raised. He yells. "Ok!"

"And...how'd you find out about this place anyway?" Elena asks them.

All three of them sit together now. "Craig took us." They all say in unison.

am, Elena and Dean enter. "Guys. Can I help you with anything?" Craig says from behind the counter.

"Yeah, are you Craig Thurston?" Sam asks.

"I am."

"Well we're reporters with the Dallas Morning News. I'm Dean, this is Sam and Elena."

"No way. Well I'm writer too. I write for my school's lit magazine." Craig says.

"Well, good for you Morrisey." Dean says.

"Umm. We're doing an article on local hauntings and rumor has it you might know of one." Sam suggests.

Craig looks at them weirdly. "You mean the Hell House?" He asks.

"That's the one." Elena says.

"I didn't think there was anything to the story." Craig says.

"Why don't you tell us the story." Sam says.

"Well, supposedly back in the '30s this farmer, Mordachai Murdoch, used to live in this house with his six daughters. It was during the depression, his crops were failing, he didn't have enough money to feed his own children. So I guess that's when he went off the deep end." Craig tells.

"How?" Sam asks.

"Well, he figured it was best if his girls died quick, rather than starve to death. So he attacked them. They screamed, begged for him to stop but he just strung 'em up, one after the other. And when he was all finished he just turned around and hung himself. Now they say that his spirit is trapped in the house forever, stringing up any other girl that goes inside."

"Where'd you hear all this." Dean asks.

"My cousin Dana told me. I don't know where she heard it from. Ya gotta realise, I didn't believe this for a second." Craig says.

"But now you do." Elena says.

"I don't know what the hell to think man. You guys, I tell you exactly what I told the police ok? That girl was real. This was not a prank. I swear to God, I don't wanna go anywhere near that house ever again ok?" Craig says.

"Thanks." Dean says.

am, Elena and Dean slush up the muddy path to the house. "I can't say I blame the kid." Sam says.

"Yeah, so much for curb appeal." Dean says. Cut to them both looking around. Sam comes back toward Dean who is holding the EMF. "You got something?" Sam asks.

"Ye-ah. The EMFs no good." Dean stops tapping the EMF.

"Why?" Sam asks.

Dean gestures at overhead power lines. "I think that things still got a little juice in it, it's screwing with all the readings." He says.

"Yeah that'd do it." Sam says.

"Yeah. Come on, let's go."

They head inside and start looking around. Dean whistles. "Looks like old man Murdock was a bit of a tagger in his time." He says.

"And after his time too. That reverse cross has been used by Satanists for centuries but this sigil of sulfer didn't show up in San Franciso until the '60s." Sam says.

Dean stares at Sam. "That is exactly why you never get laid." He says. Dean moves to the other wall. "Hey what about this one, you seen this one before? It is a cross with a dot in the middle."

Elena stares at it. "The bottom stroke looks like an upsidedown question mark." She says.

"No." Sam says.

"I have. Somewhere." Dean says.

Sam rubs the symbol. "It's paint. Seems pretty fresh too." He says.

"I don't know Sam. You know I hate to agree with authority figures of any kind...but the cops may be right about this one." Dean says.

"Yeah, maybe."

A sudden noise has them on alert. They take up positions either side of a door. Dean nods and they bust through.

Bright lights shine in their eyes. "Oh, cut. It's just a coupla humans." A guy says as one other guy holds a small electrical gadget, the other a camera which he switches off. "What are you guys doing here?"

"What they hell are you doing here?" Dean asks them.

"Ah-ha-ha. We belong here, we're professionals?" Guy One says.

"Professional what?" Dean asks.

"Paranormal Investigators." He hands them three business cards. "There you go, take a look at that, boys." He looks at Elena hotly. "And lady."

"Oh you gotta be kidding me." Dean says.

"Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spangler? Hellhoundslair.com, you guys run that website." Sam says.

"Yeah." Ed says.

"Oh yeah, yeah, we're huge fans." Sam says.

"And ahh, we know who you guys are too."

Dean and Sam both look at him sharply. "Oh yeah?" Dean asks.

"Amateurs." Ed says. Dean immediately loses interest. "Looking for ghosts and cheap thrills."

"Yep. So if you guys don't mind, we're trying to conduct a serious scientific investigation here." Harry says.

"Yeah, what have you got so far?" Dean asks.

"Harry, why doncha tell 'em about EMF?" Ed says.

"Well..." Harry starts.

Sam plays dumb and tries not to smile. "EMF?" He asks.

"Electromagnetic field? Spectral entities can cause energy fluctuations that can be read with an EMF detector. Like this bad boy right here." Harry says. He turns it on.

Dean smirks at Sam. "Whoa. Whoa. It's 2.8mg." Harry says.

"2.8. It's hot in here."

Dean whistles in admiration. "Wow." Sam says.

"Huh. So you guys ever really seen a ghost before, or..." Dean asks.

"Once. We were, uh...we were investigating this old house and we saw a vase fall right off the table..." Ed says.

"By itself." Harry says and Elena laughs.

Ed turns to her. "Well we didn't actually see it, we heard it. And something like that...it uh...it changes you."

"Yeah. I think I get the picture. We should go, let them get back to work." Dean says.

"Yeah, you should." Ed agrees.

"Sam."

As Sam and Dean leave, Ed speaks up. "Yeah, work." Ed turns to Harry. "I'm sorry. That pot we smoked gave me the giggles."

This is my favorite episode because I live in Richardson. I was actually supposed to go to Berkner High School where Jensen went but I am a transfer student somewhere else
