REAL OR FAKE
ean and Sam are standing in front of a store window, watching a news report that is being shown on a display of televisions.
"An anonymous tip led police to a home in the Central West End, where a S.W.A.T team discovered two women bound and gagged. Their attacker, a white male, approximately twenty-four to thirty years of age, was discovered hiding in her home."
A sketch of Dean appears on the screen. "Man! That's not even a good picture." He says and Sam looks around cautiously.
"It's good enough." Sam says and walks away.
"Man!" Dean exclaims. He follows Sam.
Dean and Sam are walking. Dean steps into a puddle. "Come on. They said attempted murder. At least we know—" Sam starts.
"I didn't kill her." Dean finishes.
"We'll check with Rebecca in the morning, see if she and Elena are alright." Sam says.
"All right, but first I wanna find that handsome devil and kick the holy crap out of him." Dean says.
They stop walking. "We have no weapons. No silver bullets." Sam points out.
"Sam, the guy's walkin' around with my face, okay, it's a little personal, I wanna find him." Dean says.
"Okay. Where do we look?"
"Well, we could start with the sewers." Dean suggests.
"We have no weapons. He stole our guns, we need more." Sam says. They pause to think. "The car?"
"I'm bettin' he drove over to Rebecca's." Dean says.
"The news said he fled on foot. I bet it's still parked there."
Dean gets upset. "The thought of him drivin' my car." He says.
"All right, come on." Sam says and they start walking.
"It's killin' me."
"Let it go."
They finally arrive at Rebecca's house. Dean and Sam walk around the side of the house and see Dean's car parked. "Oh, there she is! Finally, something went right tonight." A police car appears and parks next to Dean's car. "Oh, crap." They turn around, but another police car is parked a few yards away. "This way, this way." Dean moves towards a fence.
"You go. I'll hold 'em off." Sam says.
"What are you talking about? They'll catch you." Dean says.

"Look, they can't hold me. Just go, keep out of sight. Meet me at Rebecca's." Sam says and Dean starts to climb over the fence. "Dean." He stops and turns around. "Stay out of the sewers alone." Dean says nothing and hops over the fence. "I mean it!"
"Yeah, yeah!" Dean yells.
One of the Police Officers notices Sam. "Don't move! Keep your hands where I can see 'em." Sam raises his hands in the air.
Dean is getting weapons from the trunk. "I'm sorry, Sam. But you know me—I just can't wait." He closes the trunk and walks away.
At the sewer, Dean is looking around. He comes across a chamber filled with candles and chains. Revolting piles of skin and blood are on the floor. Dean hears a noise and moves to another area of the sewer.
He sees a large figure covered with a sheet. He removes it and sees Rebecca. Her hands and feet are bound together with rope. "Rebecca?"
"Elena's over there." She pants and Dean moves another sheet to find Elena in the same condition. She was passed out.
ack at Rebecca's, Sam is sitting, having a beer. He is talking with the shapeshifter, who is in the form of her. "So, say this shapeshifter is real. By the way, you know you're crazy? But, um, say it is real. How do you stop it?"
She replaces Sam's empty beer bottle with a new one. "Thanks." He sighs. "Silver bullet to the heart."
"You are crazy." It says and hits him over the head with the empty bottle. He falls over, unconscious. The shapeshifter's eyes momentarily glow silver.
In the sewer, Dean unties Rebecca. "What happened?"
"I was walking home, and everything just went white. Someone hit me over the head, and I wound up here just in time to see that thing turn into me. I don't know, how is that even possible?" She says.
"Okay, okay. It's okay." He finishes untying her. "Come on. Can you walk? Okay, we've gotta hurry. Sam went to see you."
Back at Rebecca's, The shapeshifter has changed back into the form of Dean. He finishes tying up Sam's hands and feet, then starts walking around the kitchen. "What are you gonna do to me?" Sam asks.

"Oh, I'm not gonna do anything. Dean will, though." It said.
"They'll never catch him."
"Oh, doesn't matter. Murder in the first of his own brother? He'll be hunted the rest of his life." He picks up a sharp knife and examines it.
"I must say, I will be sorry to lose this skin. Your brother's got a lot of good qualities. You should appreciate him more than you do." It pours himself a drink. "Cheers."
He takes a drink, then picks up the knife from the kitchen and sticks it into the edge of the pool table. Sam lifts his legs and kicks the shapeshifter, who falls to the ground. Sam quickly sits up and moves his hands up and down on the blade of the knife. The ropes break apart.
The shapeshifter gets up, and Sam takes the knife and swings at him. The shapeshifter grabs Sam's arm in mid-swing and twists it. Sam falls to the ground. "Oh, you son of a bitch." It says and then it and Sam start to fight. Sam tries to pin Dean down. "Not bad, little brother."
"You're not him." They continue to fight. The shapeshifter finally throws Sam into a bookshelf. It falls apart, and books fall on top of Sam.
"Even when we were kids, I always kicked your ass." The fake Dean said. He grabs a pool cue and swings at Sam but misses and hits a light fixture. After fighting for several more minutes, they fall onto a coffee table. The shapeshifter pins Sam to the floor and starts to choke him.
"Hey!" The real Dean says.
The shapeshifter sees Dean and gets off of Sam. Dean aims his gun at the shapeshifter and shoots him in the heart twice. The shapeshifter falls to the ground, dead. Elena enters and sees Sam on the floor.
"Sam!" She rushes over to him. Dean walks to the shapeshifter's body and notices him wearing Dean's necklace. Dean yanks it from around the shapeshifter's neck and nods knowingly at Sam and Elena.
The next day, Dean is by the car, looking at a map. Rebecca and Sam come outside. "So, this is what you do? You and your brother—you hunt down these kinds of things?" She says.
"Yeah, pretty much. Elena helps out sometimes."
"I can't believe it. I mean, I saw it with my own eyes. And, I mean, does everybody at school—nobody knows that you do this?" Rebecca asks.
"No."
"Did Jessica know?"
Sam looks thoughtful. "No, she didn't." He says.
"Must be lonely."
"Oh, no. No, it's not so bad. Anyway, what can I do? It's my family."
Rebecca laughs. "Well, you know, Zack and me, and everybody at school—we really miss you." She hugs him.
"Yeah, me too." Sam agrees.
They pull away. "Well, will you call sometime?" She asks.
"It might not be for a little while." He says.
Rebecca nods and waves goodbye to Dean and Elena. They wave back, and she goes back inside the house. Sam walks over to the car.
"So, what about your friend, Zack?" Dean asks.
"Cops are blamin' this Dean Winchester guy for Emily's murder. They found the murder weapon in the guy's lair, Zack's clothes stained with her blood. Now they're thinking maybe the surveillance tape was tampered with. Yeah, Becca says Zack will be released soon." Sam smiles. Dean rolls his eyes and gets in the car.
ll three of them are in the Impala, Dean drives. "Sorry, man." Dean says.
"About what?"
"I really wish things could be different, you know? I wish you could just be....Joe College." Dean says.
"No, that's okay. You know, the truth is, even at Stanford, deep down, I never really fit in." Sam says.
Dean looks at Sam. "Well, that's 'cause you're a freak." He says.
"Yeah, thanks."
"Well, I'm a freak, too. I'm right there with ya, all the way. You too missy." Dean says.
Sam laughs. "Yeah, I know you are."
"You know, I gotta say—I'm sorry I'm gonna miss it." Dean says.
"Miss what?"
"How many chances am I gonna have to see my own funeral?" He and Sam smile at each other.
Elena smiles too. "You guys are too cute." She says.

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). When it’s long it means that the chapter will just have that much content in it. There’s Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Comedy, and some Psychological undertakings. Romance hasn’t come up yet, but it may in future chapters. I try to have chapters out every Sunday at 7:00 CST Book One: The Ghost of Providence

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
