===================
~In an apartment~
A young man named Zach was lying on a single bed, staring at the ceiling. He drank from a bottle of liquor, a comic book rest open on his chest. The room began to shake violently, the lights flickering. More bottles tumble tot he floor from the night stand, and the television topples with a crash. Zach scrambled out off the bed. A blinding light appeared in front of him, he looked terrified, then awe washed over him.
~Later, in the motel~
Dean was sitting on the edge of the bed with a police radio in hand, listening. (M/n) was in a chair, looking out the window.
"We've got a minor TA, involving a motorcycle and a, uh van, this is at the corner of 28th and Pine, 28th and Pine." A woman said from the radio.
Sam came in and Dean sighed, looking at the "Magic Fingers' controller sadly.
"D'you bring quarters?" He asked.
"Dude! I'm not enabling your sick habit." Sam frowned, tossing a sandwich at his brother. "You're like one of those lab rats that pushes the pleasure button instead of the food button until it dies."
"What are you talking about? I eat. And I got news."
"Me too."
"All right, you go first."
"Three students have disappeared off the collage campus in the last year. All of them were last seen at the library."
"Where Carl Gully worked." The demon said.
"Yep."
"Sick bastard." Dean mumbled.
"So Gloria's angel-" The taller male started, but got interrupted by a glare from the demon.
"Angel?"
"Okay. Whatever this thing is..."
"Okay, well, whatever it is, it's struck again."
"What?"
"I was listening to the police radio before you got here. There was this guy, uh, Zack Smith, some local drunk. He went up to a strangers front door last night, stabbed him in the heart."

"And then I'm guessing he went to the police and confessed?"
"Yep. Roma Downey made him do it."
(M/n) got up and crossed the room, took a post-it note off the mirror. "And we got the victims address.
~Victims House~
The three clime over the fence into the yard and sneak in through the window. Sam sat down at the computer as the other two searched the house.
"Find anything?" Sam asked as they came in.
"Well, Frank liked his catalog shopping, but that's about all I got."
"Not much here. Except he's got this one locked file on his computer, I can't.....hold on." He pressed a few buttons, then grinned. "Not anymore. God."
"What?"
"Well, he's got all these emails. Dozens, to this lady named Jennifer.....This lady who's thirteen years old."
"Oh, I don't want to hear this."
"Looks like they met in a chat room. These emails are pretty personal, Dean. Look at that. Setting up a time and place to meet."
"Great."
"They were supposed to meet today."
"Huh. Well, I guess if you're gonna stab someone, good timing. I don't know man, this is weird, you know? I mean, sure some spirits are out for vengeance, but this one's almost like a do-gooder, you know? Like, like a'"
"Avenging angel?" (M/n) growled a bit. "Well, how else do you explain it, (M/n)? Three guys, not connected to each other, all stabbed through the heart? At least two were world-class pervs, and I bet if you dug deep enough on the other guy-"
"Hey." Dean said, picking something up.
"What?"
"You said Carl Gully was a churchgoer, right?"
"Yeah?"
"What was the name of his church?"
"Uh....Our Lady of the Angels?"
"Of course that'd be the name." He held up a church flier. "Looks like Frank went to the same church."
~To the Church we go!~
The three were walking through the sanctuary of the church, speaking to a friendly-looking priest. But (M/n) was hanging out behind a little."
"So you're interested in joining the parish'?"
"Yeah, well, you know, we just don't' feel right unless we hit the church every Sunday."

"Where's you say you lived before?"
"Uh..." Sam hesitated
"Fremont, Texas."
"Yeah."
"Really? That's a nice town. St. Teresa's parish, you must know the priest there."
"Sure, yeah, no it's uh, Father O'Malley."
"Hmm, I know a Father Shaughnessy."
"Shaughnessy, exactly. What's I say?"
"You know, we're just happy to be here now, Father." Sam broke in.
"And we're happy to have you, we could use some young blood around here."
"Hey, listen, I gotta ask, no offense, but uh, the neighborhood?"
"Well, it's gone to seed a little, there's no denying that, but that's why what the church does here is so important. Like I always say, you can expect a miracle, but in the meantime you work your butt off."
"Huh. Yeah, we heard about the murders." (M/n0 said, walking up.
"Yes. The victims were parishioners of mine, I'd known them for years."
"And the killers said that an angel made them do that?" Sam asked.
"Yes. Misguided souls, to think that God's messenger would appear and incite people to murder. It's tragic." (M/n) gave Sam a 'told you so' look.
"So you don't believe in those angel yarns, huh?"
"Oh, no, I absolutely believe. Kind of goes with the job description."
"Father, that's Michael, right?" Sam nodded to a painting on the wall. The demon gave him a side look that Dean knew wasn't good.
"That's right. The archangel Michael, with the flaming sword. The fighter of demons. Holy force against evil."
"So they're not really the Hallmark car version that everybody thinks? They're fierce, right? Vigilant?"
"Well, I like to think them as more loving than wrathful. But, uh, yes, a lot of Scripture paints angels as God's warriors. 'An angel of the Lord appeared to them, the glory of the Lord shone down upon them, and they were terrified.'" Sam nodded, Dean looked confused. (M/n) was just looking a the painting. "Luke. Two nine."
Dean nodded sagely.
~Outside the Church~
"Well, thank you for speaking with us, Father."
"Oh, it's my pleasure. Hope to see you again." The man smiled.
"Hopefully we won't." The demon mumbled. Dean saw a collection of tribute items at the bottom of the steps.
"Hey, Father, what's, what is all that for?"
"Oh, that's for Father Gregory. He was a priest here."
"Was?"
"He passed away right on these steps. He's interred in the church crypt."
"When did this happen?" (M/n) asked.
"Two months ago. He was shot for his car keys."
"I'm sorry."
"Yeah, ne too, He was a good friend. I didn't even have time to administer his last rites. But like I said, it's a tough neighborhood. Ever since he died, I've been praying my heart out."
"For what?"
"For deliverance. From the violence and the bloodshed around here. We could use a little divine intervention, I s'pose."
"Well, Padre, thanks. We'll see you again." Dean said. The priest went inside. Dean and Sam investigate the shrine, meanwhile (M/n) was glaring at Sam.
"Well, it's all staring to make sense. Devoted priest dies a violent death? That's vengeful spirit material right there." Sam shifted uncomfortably, feeling the demons eyes burning into the back of his head. "And he knew all the other stiffs, because they went to church here, in fact I'm willing to bet that because he was their priest, he knew things about them that nobody else knew."
"Then again, Father Reynolds stated praying for God's help about two months ago, right? Right about the time all this started happening?"
"What's your deal with this whole angel thing?" (M/n) said angerly.
"What do you mean?"
"Since when were you all Mr. 700 club? From the get-go you've been willing to buy this angel crap. I mean, what's next, are you going to start praying every day?"
"I do."
"What?" Dean said.
"I do pray everyday. I have for a long time."
"The things you earn about a guy. Huh, well, come on. Let's go check out Father Gregory's grave. And calm down (M/n)." Dean told the boy.
"Easier said then done."
~Church crypt~
The crypt is a maze of stone hallways, with numerous stone angel figurines. They wander through slowly, Dean and (M/n) were a little ahead of Sam. As the two go into another room, Sam stops, looking back at one of the angels. He frowns as it, and then the entire room, begin to shake. A bright light appears behind him and he turns, confusion washing away to a look of awe.

8 109System Supervillain
I was there when it happened. When the walls of reality came crashing down upon us. When everything changed. I was there. I watched it happen. There wasn’t anything I could do, of course. When two veritable demigods are fighting to the death, getting caught in between is a great way to end up very dead. Or worse. That’s when it happened. Raw time crashed with pure paradox, and the universe itself screamed in torment. Night turned to day turned to yesterday and tomorrow and blue and yellow and whale and petunia, and then it snapped back, all at once, with a thunderous roar that was not heard but felt. And then I saw the blue box for the first time. ------------ A System Apocalypse event happens in a world of superheroes, like you would see in the comic books. What happens when the world changes, and heroes and villains are now bound by a System that limits their powers? What will change, and what will remain the same? This story will incorporate Champions/HERO System 5th Edition rules. There will be dice rolls determining the action, and blue boxes with lots of crunchy numbers. If you're not down for that, there are plenty of other stories on this site that you'll like. But if that sounds fun to you, then welcome aboard, and I invite you to see what happens when someone becomes a System Supervillain.

Dolores is a lucky girl with a high-level avatar in a very popular game. She did not level it up; she got it through some fortunate circumstances. She is not interested in fighting and levelling; all she wants is to have some fun and follow her own fantasies. If only there would not be all those idiots who intend to kill her, capture her, or simply use her. And those flaws in the game! Wait, what? Those pesky game characters now appear in the real world? And they can do magic? How did this happen? Adding to her troubles, her crush does not even look at her. As Dolores tries only to survive and hide between 'normal' people, she encounters stranger and stranger things that force her hand and, in the end, she has the answers to a lot of questions. It is a slow-developing story. I had a lot of fun writing it and hope to share it with you, dear reader if you also enjoy it. On the other hand, putting it in an acceptable form requires much work and energy. I intend to bring it to its end and not let it unfinished. I hate it when I encounter unfinished stories, so I understand the feeling. This is not a classical isekai story. There is travel between the two worlds, and the game world seems to be so very real... well, this is one plot of the story. This is not an MMORP game story. Part of the action happens inside a game world, but it is treated as a real world. Updates on a weekly basis, at least Monday and Friday, with additional bonus chapters as time and energy allow. Cover art: White Flower as A Dark Fairy by Darkrealmsmaiden Yolanda gracefully allowed me to use her dark fairy as cover. Unfortunately, this is not enough for people with a low tolerance for warped sentences and... they may want to skip the story :( Well, you have been warned :) I appreciate it when a reader points out a sentence that needs rework. That may spare a follow-up reader some pain and helps me understand where my English grammar problems are. * We thought we made the best game in Earth's history We thought we made the best interfaces ever seen We thought we made it - lifelike But it far exceeded our expectations. Dolores, I hope you're happy now. I hope you're alive now...
