《Mon Cheri (Solangelo AU)》Chapter 17

The morning after that night, they'd been late to class. They woken up late. Thankfully, the teachers just assumed they were feeling a wee bit ill so they weren't in much trouble. And just after that, one wonderful year went by in a blur.
And today was their one year anniversary.
"Wake up, mon Cheri." Will kissed Nico's forehead shook him a little. He didn't want to be too rough.
Nico groaned, "I'm not French, Will, god. I'm Italian."
"But I only know French." Will sat up. It was Sunday morning. Will wanted to take Nico out for breakfast.
Nico had different plans, though. As soon as Will sat up, he pulled him back down and warped his body so he was practically glued to him like a leech. "Stay. Don't get up yet."
Will chuckled. Nico was too cute. He couldn't handle it sometimes. He didn't want to give in but he supposed breakfast could wait until it became brunch. His later plans wouldn't be disturbed anyway. "Okay. But not too long."
Will felt Nico's smile against his chest, "Yeah. Yeah. I have plans for you later."
"Oh? Like what?"
"It's a surprise."
Will didn't want to question him further. He didn't mind a surprise. Not when it came from his death boy. They managed to cuddle in bed for another two hours before Cecil burst in, going on about needing clothes.
"I let you have the night and switched places with Nico but this is my room too and I need a change of clothes." He rummaged through his wardrobe. "Since both my best friends have boyfriends and girlfriends, I decided to get myself a date. I mean, it's been a year for fuck's sake."
The boys perked up at this news, Nico turned around to question Cecil. "Who did you manage to trick into a date?"
"For your information, I don't know who it is." He emerged from the wardrobe. "Lou and Reyna set me up for a blind date."
Will grinned, "So they tricked the mystery person."
Cecil stuck out his tongue, "There was no tricking. I happen to be likable."
Nico let go of Will and finally sat up, "But what if you don't like the person?"
Cecil made a trip into the bathroom, leaving Nico and Will waiting for an answer. He exited but didn't answer until he was halfway out the door. "Not to worry, I'm pan. I'll like them. See you guys tonight."
Will tried to clarify. "I don't think that's what he was as- " And he was gone.
Nico shrugged, "Well. Let's get dressed, I'm hungry." He got out of bed and was reaching for his small backpack containing his clothes before he stopped and turned again as Will was standing up. "Oh Will." He smiled and stepped closer. "Happy anniversary." He got on his tiptoes and gifted him with a sweet kiss. Will didn't even mind his morning breath.
Will smiled after the kiss, "Happy anniversary Neeks."
After that they dressed and proceeded to go. Nico started heading for the dining hall but Will grinned and shook his head, dragging him towards the front entrance. "C'mon Neeks. Didn't you think I had something? I'm taking you out for brunch."

Nico rolled his eyes but he smiled and Will knew he was happy about it. It made Will happy to know Nico was happy and his heart swelled. He couldn't believe he'd gotten such an amazing guy. And all to himself. It was fantastic.
When they were out of school grounds Nico had been heading in the direction of the little cafe a couple blocks to the right of the school they usually went to. But no, Will was taking them somewhere more memorable. He grabbed Nico's arm and pulled him to the left. "Neeks. Stop assuming were going to the same normal places. It's our anniversary. I'm taking you somewhere else."
Nico didn't say anything and just shrugged as Will lead them to a different cafe. It was, had been, Will's favourite but after taking Nico one time. He couldn't bring himself to go back without him. Although, after they'd started dating, they got in he habit of going to the closer cafe with Lou, Reyna and Cecil. Now, Will knew it was the perfect time to return.
Nico didn't recognize it at first.
Will sat them down at the same table. Even if it was cold. And even the same seats. And asked the waiter for the same food they'd eaten there the night Will brought him there after they hadn't had breakfast like they'd planned and stayed to do Nico's homework. Only when they served their food did Nico look up at Will in surprise.
"Oh." Will reacted after Nico leaned over and planted a quick kiss to his lips. "I didn't even remember."
Will grinned, "Only the best for you."
"Technically this isn't exactly the best..."
"Oh shut up and eat." Will shook his head and smiled at his food. This boy was definitely a gift from the heavens.
Their meal was amazing. The entire time, they held hands over the table. Smiling like madmen. They spoke for a whole after eating. Nico talked and used his free hand to gesture everything and anything he spoke about. He got momentarily excited talking about a video game he and Jason had been playing for rhe past month and Will couldn't stop staring. It didn't take him too long into the conversation to realize he'd fallen in love with him.
The way he talked. The way he acted. The way he looked. The way he could get stubborn when he really got into it. The way he smiled. The way he looked at Will like he was the world. The way he was himself. He was so magnificent. Will couldn't believe it took him this long to notice he'd probably been on love with him as soon as he layed eyes on him. But he didn't dare tell him. He would. But not yet. Maybe at the end of the night. When everything had gone perfectly already and Nico wouldn't expect it to get better. For now, he would keep quiet and just enjoy him.
They finally decided to leave two hours later. Their hands warmly clasped and swaying between them. Originally, Will had wanted to take Nico out for breakfast, go back to school and make him lunch after tipping a certain Harpy, then leave again and have a moonlit picnic at the park but that had changed when Will obliged to stay in bed longer with Nico. Now they just wandered. Will figured they could always go by a restaurant for their to go moonlit dinner. But again that changed when Nico started leading them somewhere else after the sun had gone down.

"You didn't think I hadn't planned something did you?" Nico grinned and took him inside Blue Buffalo's loud interior. "We had our first date here."
Will smirked, "I wasn't aware it had been a date."
Nico blushed and Will was amazed he could still cause that reaction after a year together. "It was obviously a date, Solace."
Will smiled, "Good to know."
As they made their way deeper inside, they were swarmed by Lou and Reyna. Will was disappointed to know Cecil had not made it back from his date.
"He texted me earlier apologizing, he said he was having a great time and his date wanted to be alone for the rest of the night so they won't make it." Lou explained. "But we're here! And so are the buffalo wings!"
They led them to a round corner booth by the windows. Reyna and Lou took the seats across from Will and Nico. Before they started digging in, Jason and Piper showed up with Frank and Hazel. "Hey! You guys didn't wait for us?"
Nico grinned, "Sorry Jason, the wings were calling."
Jason only smiled as the four of them scooted into the booth next to Lou and Reyna. "Well congratulations. Can't believe it's been a year!"
Hazel hugged Nico before taking her seat, "Yeah. Gosh. I'm so happy for you both."
Will and Nico both grinned, "Thank you."
Before long, they were enjoying the buffalo wings and joking around. Then ordering more wings and fries and urging Jason to go on stage and sing so they could dance to a song they all enjoyed. They cheered for him for a full minute. When their excitement died down a little, Jason's eyes locked on Nico.
"But Nico," he said, "Hadn't you planned on singing something?"
Reyna smirked, "Oh yeah. You mentioned something about The Cab?"
Nico looked at Will from the corner of his eye and when he saw him looking, he blushed. "Right, I totally forgot about it."
He sighed, getting up, "I'll be back."
Will tried to follow him, figuring maybe he had planned to have them sing like they had on their date but Nico shook his head. "Just me, sugar. You stay and watch."
Will didn't think too much of it and let him go, waiting to cheer on his boyfriend. But Nico surprised him.
He whispered something to Robert before going on stage. The song started playing, "I'm dedicating this to my amazing boyfriend of one year, Will."
Will blushed, his mouth open in an "o" shape. He didn't know what to think.
The words started rolling.
"Out of the seven billion people in this world, there's only you.
Almost a million words that I could say, but none of them will do.
So many years that I have lived, but it feels like I've just begun.
Out of the seven billion people, baby, you're the only one.
I've been too many places. I've seen too many faces.
I wrote too many pages; never found a love like you. (Love like you)
I don't know how to say it. It's been more than amazing.
My whole life, I've been waiting; never found a love like you. (Love like you)
Sleep, dream, you, repeat. Live, die next to me.
Sleep, dream, you, repeat. Sleep, dream.
Out of the seven billion people in this world, there's only you.
Almost a million words that I could say, but none of them will do.
So many years that I have lived, but it feels like I've just begun.
Out of the seven billion people, baby, you're the only one.
You were unexpected, when our lips connected.
I was resurrected; never found a love like you. (love like you)
Don't care where I'm headed when the world is ending.
'cause you are my heaven; never found a love like you.
Surrounded by numbers.
(Numbers, numbers, numbers)
You're the only one.
(Numbers, numbers, numbers, numbers)
You brought me back to life.
You did the unthinkable.
Yeah, you are my miracle.
Out of the seven billion people in this world, there's only you.
Almost a million words that I could say, but none of them will do.
So many years that I have lived, but it feels like I've just begun.
Out of the seven billion people, baby, you're the only one.
Surrounded by numbers.
(Numbers, numbers, numbers)
You're the only one.
(Numbers, numbers, numbers, numbers)
You're the only one.
Surrounded by numbers.
(Numbers, numbers, numbers)
You're the only one.
(Numbers, numbers, numbers, numbers)
You're the only one."
The song faded and Will raced to the stage. Everyone was quiet. He threw his arms around Nico and kissed him. He didn't take notice of the hoots and hollers of the audience. Not their cheers when he pulled back and told him he loved him and Nico replied the same way after kissing him again.
Will decided it was the best day of his life.
Will loved Nico. And Nico loved Will. Will couldn't begin to put into words just how much he loved him but he did and there was no question that he would never let him go. Because he was his miracle too and the love of his life.
Right then and there, he swore to himself that he would marry him.
