《Tokyo Ghoul X reader OneShots》Smiles | Yomo Renji

A/N: This was requested by @Yumichild Basically Yomo and the reader's child is Ichika's first cousin once removed. That's... really complicated, wow. Can you believe Yomo's child is Touka and Ayato's cousin? THE AGE DIFFERENCE OH MY G O D.

By the way this contains SPOILERS to the series. Like, Spoilers galore. If you haven't finished Tokyo Ghoul yet, read at your own risk.

LAST THING: I never wrote Yomo before so I'm really sorry if this is OOC! ;-; Plus I'm sort of sick and super tired, so this might not be my best oneshot ever...

"Are you alright?" You worriedly asked, squatting down to observe the heavily injured ghoul. "Sorry, that was a stupid question. Of course you aren't." You reached out towards the ghoul to test the waters. He backed away before you could touch his wound, obviously wary of you. And he had every right to be. A stranger finds a ghoul in an alley and tries to touch them. Who wouldn't be suspicious at first?

The teen looked you up and down -- huh, he doesn't look to be much older than yourself -- before grimacing. "Which are you?" He forced out.

You chuckled. "It's tough to figure out, isn't it? But don't use too much energy to figure it out, you need to heal first." No one had ever been able to discover your half human origins before, so you had gotten used to the constant question being 'what are you'. Without waiting any longer, you dropped the bag you had on your back to the ground, making the ghoul flinch. "Calm down, I'm not gonna take out a quinque. It's just some food to help you."

The silver haired male gazed down at the package sitting in your hands. "In case you're one of those guilt-free ghouls -- which I highly doubt right now --, it's a suicide victim. I didn't kill him myself." You then undid the wrapping and handed him the human flesh, turning around to let him eat in peace.

Yomo sat up and couldn't help but furrow his eyebrows. "I could attack you right now." He muttered before consuming the meat you had given him. "It's imprudent to turn your back on a wounded ghoul." The confidence you had right now almost pissed him off. Who did you think you were, to treat him as some kind of wounded child? If he didn't know any better, he would have said Uta sent you to check on him (and then payed you to mock him).

"You don't look like the type." You answered, waiting for his signal before turning around. Once he gave it, you looked back at him, happy to see his wounds were already healing. "Mind telling me what happened?"

"Friend of mine attacked me." He muttered.

"What a great friend." You sarcastically answered before walking over and pulling him up. Earlier, he thought you were human, but the strength you had was far beyond a normal human's. What were you? "If you let me, I can bring you somewhere safer."

"Why would I trust you?"

"Why would you still consider someone who nearly kills you a friend?"

Renji sighed. Did he really have another choice? Besides, he knew looks can be misleading sometimes, but you just didn't seem to be that kind of person. "Fair point."

"Hey," You greeted, gently elbowing Yomo as you eyed the empty coffee shop. "Know what today is?"

The now cool-headed male looked down at you in confusion.

"On this day, three years ago, I saved you from a fatal wound Uta caused. Three years ago, you officially became a member of Anteiku!" You said, your smile widening. "You grew so much." You teased in the process, pinching his cheek as you cooed.

"Did I really?" He deadpanned as you laughed.

"You would have punched me in the gut three years ago if I pinched your cheek." You noted. It wasn't even an assumption, you did pinch his cheek about three years ago and he did punch you in the gut after you did it. "Thank goodness I can take a Yomo Punch, eh?"

"Sorry about that." He shamefully muttered as you let out a guffaw.

"It's fine, it's fine!" You assured, pulling yourself up on the counter as you talked. "We also did some progress, concerning our friendship." You added. My feelings also progressed. You couldn't help but think as a small smile became visible on Renji's lips. You wished he smiled more often.

Seeing as he wasn't going to bother with words this time, you decided to speak up again. "By the way, your niece is going to start working here."

"Touka?" Yomo's eyes basically lit up at the mention. "What about Ayato?" Ouch, that pulled on your heartstring.

You hesitated for an instant, wondering whether you should tell him or not...

"(Y/N), what happened to Ayato?" Yomo asked sternly as he shifted over so he could be face to face with you. If the scenario was completely different, you might have acted on your feelings, considering how easy it would have been to hook your feet around his waist and pull him closer, but...

"He... Uh..." You started, trying to find a way to explain that his nephew basically ditched Touka. "He went with Aogiri instead."

With the way his shoulders fell, you knew you had a lot of comforting to do for the next week or two.

Touka grimaced at the way you and Renji seemed so close. "Will you two stop it?! We're working !" She exclaimed as Kaneki looked towards you two too.

"But Touka..." The raven haired student started. "They're not even remotely close to each other." You turned your head away from Ken to look at Yomo who was a meter or two away from you.

"Ken's right." You stated. Before Touka or Yomo could answer, you shifted to the side, wrapped your arm around the silver haired male's waist and pressed your cheek to his, looking at his niece who glared daggers at you. "Is this better, Touka?"

The teenager suppressed a shiver and looked away from the two of you while you laughed at her discomfort. "Come on, Touka, you'll have to get used to me!" You knew this might not be the best moment to try it, but hey. It was casual yet it will still be remembered, one way or another. This confession will be purely you and however it goes down, you were sure that you and Renji would laugh about it in the future.

"I don't need to get used to anything." She muttered back, giving you a semi-serious glare. You knew she couldn't hate you, considering you had once saved her uncle from a near-death experience. This was all friendly rivalry after all. You were fine with it. "Why would I need to get used to anything?" Bingo. Just what you wanted to hear.

"Because we're dating, of course!" You nonchalantly exclaimed. This was it. This was the moment of truth. This would determine your future.

"Since when?" Your crush asked. Although it wasn't the automatic acceptance you were low-key hoping for, Yomo didn't make a move to peel you off of him. This was... Okay.

"Since... Right now." You answered. "We can go out tonight after we close up Anteiku if you want."

"What?!" Touka exclaimed. "No! Ew!" Her reaction made you realize something. Would his niece's opinion on this change Yomo's answer? So far, you hadn't seen Yomo bend to anyone's will whatsoever, but this was his niece. The last bit of family he had. You should've considered that option while you were planning this out (had you ever even planned any of this? It felt more like something out of the blue).

"Sounds nice." The silver haired man answered, shocking you. Sure, you hadn't expected a flat-out rejection, but imagining him actually giving you a chance at this felt so surreal. Either way, you weren't going to waste this opportunity. As Kaneki was trying to calm down a disgusted Touka, Renji bent down to add a satisfied "it's about time" before letting go of you and leaving the three of you. Who would have known? He was pinning after you too.

"Caught you daydreaming again?" Touka teased as you straightened your back.

"Ah! Sorry!" You exclaimed, pushing the thoughts of Anteiku out of your mind. That was all in the past now. "Is there a customer here? Do I have to do something?"

The purple haired girl laughed at your sudden nervousness. "That guy came again. The one who looks like..." The two of you turned your heads toward the male sitting in the back of the coffee shop, who was apparently scanning through a book. You personally knew better. He had such an obvious crush on Touka.

"It's still scary how much he resembles Ken." You sighed. As Touka furrowed her eyebrows and opened her mouth, you cut her off. "I know that he's physically the same person. What I mean is that they... somewhat have the same personality. And have the same taste in women." With that, you gave her playful a wink. Anything to try and lighten the mood, really. Whenever Kan- Sasaki would show up, :Re itself would become more melancholic than you'd like. It affected all three of you, Yomo included. You hated it.

"Haha, very funny." She mocked as you shrugged. "You know how risky it would be."

"Who said anything about acting upon your feelings?" You teased. Leaning forward and lowering your voice, you grinned as you whispered something that made her face turn bright red. "You do like Ken!"

Taken aback, Touka simply groaned and looked down while you waved her embarrassment off. "Pft, you softie." You taunted before grabbing the debit machine and some change to go settle Haise Sasaki's payment.

Once you were at his table, he looked from you to Touka, who currently had her back turned to the two of you (probably still blushing). You could see in his eyes that the investigator was a bit sad about not getting to talk to her more. How obvious his crush on her was. "Will that be all?" You asked in an attempt to break him out of his reverie.

"Oh? Uh! I'm sorry!" The young adult apologized. "And yes, yes. Thank you all. Your service is as great as always!"

"Thank you." You politely bowed as Haise took out an amount of change from his pocket. He had come here often enough to know exactly how much his coffee would cost.

"Are you... Her aunt?" Sasaki shyly asked as he handed you the change plus a very generous tip that you would give to Touka as soon as she regained her natural skin tone. The question he had asked you threw you off. As all you could answer with was 'uuhh...', Touka jumped at the opportunity to take her revenge.

"By marriage!" She called out, making you want to curl up on yourself and die. "My uncle's married to them--"

"Touka!" You scolded. "Don't say--"

"She's still a bit bashful about it." When did her face turn beige again?!

"Oh!" Haise got up, gathering his things as he spoke. "Is it the one with silver hair by any chance? What was his name... Er... Yami?"

"Yomo." You corrected. Welp, you were going to give Touka a hard time for this one.

"Ah, yes!" Your former friend gave you a polite smile. "Congratulations on your marriage."

"You ever thought about getting married?" You couldn't help but ask that question. Ever since the... 'accident' with Haise a few months ago, your mind kept thinking about it, but then your recent discovery popped up and... Things felt a bit more urgent now, in a way.

"Are you thinking about marriage?" Renji answered (or rather, asked).

"Well, not a formal, over-the-top marriage. I'm just thinking... Life for some of us is short. And we both know that for me, it might be shorter than expected, being a hybrid and all. I was just thinking that maybe... You know..."

"We could get married." Your boyfriend answered coolly. Thank the gods for Yomo's now cool-headed personality. "I don't see a problem with it, but why now? If it were a matter of time, you would have brought it up earlier."

"I didn't want to scare you." Shit, was that answer too quick? Too monotone? Did that sound like you were practicing that exact line? Even if the answer was no, you were sure Renji would have seen through it.

"We both know that's not the way you think." He slowly said. "(Y/N), is there something wrong? Did you get threatened by someone?" As unfortunate as you might find yourself right now, Renji was right without even knowing about it. The situation, if you accepted it, was better than being dead, or a CCG lab rat.

"No..." You shamefully muttered.

"Then what is it?" Seeing as you didn't lift your head back up, your boyfriend did it for you. With two hands gently placed on your cheeks, Yomo gave you a look that you couldn't resist. How could you make him so worried over something like this? Especially when he's concerned as well...

"I'm pregnant."

All you needed to see was the way his eyes grew in size to know that he was obviously thrown off by your sudden confession. If he weren't making such a tremendous effort, you knew his jaw would have hit the floor by now.

"Are you sure?" He shakily asked. You could feel his fear radiating off of him. To be quite honest, it made you feel scared too. This baby thing was a huge issue, considering the life you both lived. And considering your... Not so assured survival. What would even happen to the child? Would it end up being cursed with the same kind of life you lived? Would it be a full blown ghoul, like its father? You had absolutely no idea, and that sort of scared you.

"I'm sure. I went to see a doctor-"

"(Y/N)! You know how dangerous that can be! What if the-"

"My doctor, Renji. I'm scared, not stupid."

"Oh. Do we... Do we know what..?"

"The race? He has no idea, but we can rule out human for sure."

Your boyfriend fell silent for a while, apparently thinking. After a minute or so of nervous silence, he broke it. A small smile fell on his face. "I always wanted a child, (Y/N), but... If it affects your health or the baby's..."

"I think I'll be alright, Renji. The thing I'm most worried about is its future. One parent is a ghoul and the other is a hybrid that could die any day now-"

"Don't say that."

"What I'm saying is; do you want to risk it? I don't... I don't want our child to end up an orphan by the age of ten."

That tugged at Yomo's heartstrings. Whether he was connecting it to personal experience or not, what you were saying was a factor he'd have to consider. The two of you would need so much time to figure out something like that, but you didn't have any time. You were pregnant. Right here, right now. In nine months, if you did nothing, you'd end up with a child and he'd end up with a family, but for how long? Even if he didn't like you saying it, he knew you were right. Your life expectancy wasn't as long as his, that was for sure. But the two of you didn't have a clue about how long it was, either. Was this thing worth a try? Of course it was, but... He doesn't want to put his family in danger.

"It's your body." He said. "If you don't want a child, then I don't want you going through it just for me."

"See, that's the thing. I want the baby, but I can't pull this off all alone and we both know it. This kid'll be the CCG's number one enemy." You explained.

His eyes flickered to your stomach for a split second before going back up to meet your gaze. "Are you sure?"

"I'm certain. Believe it or not, I'm willing to spend my life with you." You teased in a desperate attempt to lighten the mood. Your boyfriend (fiancé?) smiled down at you before wrapping his arms around you and gently squeezing your body while you sighed. Yomo's hugs were somehow the most comforting thing in this world. You didn't know you needed it so badly until he gave you one.

"Can we... Name the baby Uta just to fuck with him?" You asked as your arms snaked around the man's waist.

"Absolutely not."

"Hikari," You warned as the child ran up to her cousin (well, cousin once removed, but you wanted things to stay simple). "Play nice, she's way younger than you."

"I know, (Y/N)!" The girl sassed before she fell on her knees in front of Ichika, who smiled widely at the sight of her.

"Ouch," Ayato cringed. "She's at that age already? When did she start calling you by your first name?"

"A few days ago." You answered before nodding towards your husband who was settling down on the couch next to you. "He nearly cried the night where she first called him 'Renji'."

"What a softie." Your nephew-in-law cooed as Renji shot you a glare. Not like if you'd keep the truth hidden.

"Just wait until her high school graduation. Then you'll be the one to cry." Touka warned as she ruffled your now-whitening hair.

"As if you three won't cry." You huffed, giving your family a few glares. Letting out an overly dramatic sigh, you clutched the fabric over your heart. "I sob every time someone tells me she looks just like me."

As if on cue, Hikari and Ichika ran into the room, both tackling their own parents. You let out a choked noise as your child settled down on your lap, accidentally whacking you in the nose with her head. Obviously, she was growing up and sooner than later, this position might become uncomfortable for your legs.

"Well," Renji said, looking from you to his daughter. "They're not wrong." A warm smile settled down on his lips.
