《Tokyo Ghoul X reader OneShots》Trust | Naki

A/N: Lol the reader's a doctor because I love the idea of Naki being with someone intellectual who can teach him tons of stuff and he just shows them off saying their partner is the smartest.
AND URGH I APOLOGIZE FOR WRITING NAKI SO POORLY I LOVE HIM BUT I JUST CAN'T GET HIS CHARACTER RIGHT AAAAAA
DISCLAIMER: Please don't try to reset your knee by yourself if it ever happens. Call an ambulance, go to the doctor, but just don't do it alone by following what I wrote, I'm not a doctor (yet, wink wonk), don't use this as legit instructions for the love of g o d. I don't want to be responsible for someone getting hurt.
Seriously, can't you get a freaking break? You had a day off work today, a day without having to deal with stress, critical situations and overreacting moms that think their kid is going to die because of a mosquito, but you just had to have two ghouls break into your home on this very day. Not that you hate your job, you love working at the E.R., but enough is enough.
Dodging yet another swing from the first ghoul, you wondered how in the ever loving hell you were able to face those two in the first place. These ghouls were obviously stronger than you, yet here you are, handling the situation like a god damn champ. Pen in hand, you found an opening between their punches and swung the small weapon forwards, effectively stabbing it in the ghoul's eye. You knew it was the only spot in their body that wasn't as tough as the rest, and you were going to take it as an advantage. You'll thank Yamori for the useful information next time you see him.
"Anti White Suits pieces of shit." You grumbled as you watched the ghoul stumble back in shock and in pain, the second one looking at you like you were a monster. "Yeah, I had a few conversations with Jason. Wanna see what I learned, bitch?" You taunted.
Bad move.
The second ghoul launched itself forward and you were about to dodge when the door to your house swung open, causing you to draw your attention to the sudden noise instead of the dangerous ghoul in front of you.
It tackled you to the ground while you placed your right leg behind you to try and regain your balance, only to have your knee dislocated in the process, causing pain to shoot up your leg, a scream of surprise and agony erupting from your throat.
"(Y/N)!" A familiar voice cried out before a flash of white appeared next to you, knocking the ghoul off of you. You watched as the blonde stabbed the ghoul to death before finishing off the one who had your pen in the eye.
"Hey, Naki." You greeted as calmly as possible, wincing when you tried to move your leg. Resetting it was going to be a pain in both the leg and the ass. "Nice of you to swing by, I missed you."
You watched as the man stabbed the ghoul repeatedly, apparently too upset to notice it was completely and utterly dead. Mort, deceased, lifeless, cadaverous, just dead.
"Hey, they're dead, sweetie. It's okay, you saved me." You reassured, sighing when he stopped his attacks. Maybe your carpet could still be saved...
Naki turned around, tears pooling in his eyes at the sight of you. "I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed. "I should've had Hooguro and Shousei guarding you!" He fell to his knees in front of you, hugging your upper body as if you'd disappear if he let go.

"Hey, Naki, it's alright!" You rubbed his back soothingly, trying to ignore your dislocated knee. "If it's anyone's fault, it's mine, alright? I had told you not to have anyone guarding me. Don't blame yourself. If anything, I'm really glad you came when you did." You reassured, heart breaking when your neck started feeling wet. You knew he was really sentimental, but you hated it when it was because of you. "I'm alive, and that's what counts."
"If it weren't for me, they wouldn't be after you..." He whimpered. "It's still my fault!"
"Naki, nothing's your fault." You sternly said. Sure, people wanted to get to him in anyway possible because of his position in the White Suits, but you accepted the risks when you started your relationship with the sweet ghoul.
He finally pulled away, eyes red and puffy. You frowned and reached out to wipe some tears away and smiled when Naki leaned into your touch.
"Where's Gagi and Guge?" You asked, trying to change his thoughts.
Naki sniffed before breathing in to talk. "I wanted to come see you alone this time." He answered, voice slightly shaky from crying. "I'm sorry..." He whimpered once again.
"Hey, hey, what you did was heroic, Naki." You cooed.
He seemed to give up on crying again and perked up at your praise, even though he probably didn't know what 'heroic' meant.
"You did the right thing and you saved me. That's a heroic act." You explained briefly. "Now I need your help again, okay?"
He nodded, keeping silent.
"Listen, a part of my knee got moved during the fighting, and I need to put it back, but I need your help for it." You explained, pointing at your knee. Once his eyes fell on your dislocated knee cap, his eyes widened.
"What's wrong with your leg?" He exclaimed.
"In medical terms, it's called dislocating. There's a little socket where your knee cap," You pointed at your patella. "Is supposed to be in, and mine got out of the socket, so we need to put it back in. And I think the femur might have been knocked out of place too..." Yeah, that was a bit too complicated for the poor man...
"I... Uh..." His eyes darted from your knee to all around the room. "I'll bring you to Aneki! He'll know what to do!" With that, Naki slipped an arm under your knees, causing you to let out a hiss.
"No, no Naki! I can't move my leg, carrying me would hurt too much!" You said, gently pushing his arm away. "You need to do this with me, the longer it stays dislocated, the tougher it'll be to reset it. It hurts enough already."
"But I can't... I'm not good with this stuff! Yamori'll know what to do with your diloscated knee!" He countered.
"Naki, I'm a doctor. You said it yourself multiple times already, and I'll remind you. I'm smart when it comes to this, I'll guide you through. I've done this over twenty times in my life. Now listen, I need you to feel the skin under my knee-- not directly under, just from the foot to the knee." You explained calmly. You gave yourself a good tap on the back for not howling in pain right now.
Naki hesitated. "But I don't know any of this stuff..." He was about to cry again. Oh gosh, why was this so stressful? One wrong move and you could have your leg... what was it, amputed? ampatuted? Ah, yeah, amputated. He didn't want that. He didn't want to be the cause of that... You shouldn't be trusting him with this... He should really get Yamori, but how much time does he have?

"Naki." You spoke, ripping him out of his trance. "I trust you, sweetheart. I'll guide you through this. I can't die from this, I promise."
He gave you an indecisive look.
"You have all of my trust, Naki." You assured.
His hand slowly went to your ankle, fingers ghosting over the skin, slightly blushing at the contact.
"Is the skin cold? Or too warm?" You ask, looking at your leg. The color wasn't off, and you were feeling his light touch. Nerves are okay, then.
Naki shook his head, still silent.
"Good, that means it's not too bad." You encouraged. "And I don't think the bone's broken." You added. Thinking was the best you had in a situation like this, so f it WAS broken... then too bad.
"So you're not going to get ampatuted?" He hopefully asked.
"No, I won't get my leg amputated." You said, subtly correcting him. You were glad he was trying to use the terms you taught him. "Okay, here's the next part, are you ready?"
"Yeah." He nodded, a determined look in his eyes.
"I need you to get me something I could use as a brace for my knee afterwards. Something that I can wrap around my knee to prevent it from dislocating until it heals." You explained.
"Like... Like a cast?" He tilted his head to the side.
"Yeah, but I don't think I have any casts... Do you remember where I put the first aid stuff?"
Naki nodded once again, recalling the last time you had saved Shousei from what could have been a nasty injury to the shoulder with that stuff.
"Okay, in that closet, there'll be some kind of fabric. It sort of looks like tape, but it's not sticky. I need that." You explained, watching as Naki bounced to his feet (although he was careful not to hit your leg) and ran out looking for the closet where you kept all your medical supplies, coming back with three boxes, one of them being exactly what you were looking for.
"I didn't know which one it was, they all looked like tape." He explained, setting down the three boxes and sitting down in front of you once again, waiting for your next order. "This is sorta fun." He added.
"I'm glad you're having fun." You said, smiling. It was good that his nervousness went away. You didn't want him to have shaky hands when he'll reset your knee. "Now, the next part is the tricky one."
Naki nodded, hanging to your each and every word.
"I'll need you to-- at my signal-- slowly straighten my leg while I put the knee cap back in place." You said. "It'll hurt a lot, but you need to keep going even if I scream, okay?"
"I don't want to hurt you..." Naki said, frowning at your words.
"It's okay, you won't hurt me. This is the good thing to do, you're helping me heal, alright?" You said, smiling when Naki nodded. "Good, grab my ankle, yeah, just like that. You're doing great. Now, put your other hand under my thigh."
Naki froze, the blush returning to his face. "Are you sure..?" He questioned, embarrassed.
"It's okay, I won't be mad." You assured, taking his hand in yours and placing it where it needed to be. "Now, at my signal, lift my leg so it'll be straight in about three seconds. Can you do that?" You mimicked the pace you needed with your arm, unfolding your elbow. "During that time, I'll force my knee cap back in place. It's going to be painful."
Naki looked completely out of it.
"Do you understand, Naki?" You added, slightly worried you might have pushed him too far.
He nodded. "Are you sure this is what I'm supposed to do?" He asked, searching for reassurance.
"Yes. I'm a doctor, Naki. I know everything there is to know about the human body. I trust you with this. Do you trust me?" You asked.
"Yeah, yeah I trust you!" He exclaimed, as if he was offended that you'd think otherwise. "I just don't want to do the wrong thing. I want to be heroin."
"Heroic." You corrected. "And you're doing the right thing, I assure you. Are you ready?"
He nodded, gripping your ankle and thigh a bit tighter while you placed your hand on where your knee cap was at the moment.
"On three." You said, completely focused on your knee. "One, two, three!"
You yanked your knee back in place despite the horrible pain you felt while doing so. Whimpering, you let out a huff of air once Naki had straightened your leg, as pale as a ghost.
"I'm sorry!" He exclaimed. "Did I go too fast? Did I go too slow? Does it still hurt? Do you need the tape now?"
You nodded at his last question, biting your lip in an attempt to stop yourself from crying in front of him. If you cried, he'd inconsolable for at least two hours, best case scenario.
Naki quickly handed you what you needed and you wrapped the thin but strong fabric around your knee in a professional manner, having it act as a splint until you could go get an actual one.
"Could you lift me on the couch?" You asked, surprised when Naki suddenly lifted you from the cold floor and onto the couch, settling himself right beside you, waiting for your next order.
"And we're done." You sighed, content that your knee was slightly better now. However, Naki wasn't so happy, making you frown. "What's upsetting you-- Oh, no, no, we aren't done, I mean about my knee!" You specified.
Still, Naki couldn't stop himself from crying, causing you to wrap your arms around him and press him closer to you. "Hey, shh... It's okay, it's finished. I'm okay and so are you. You won't have to do that ever again." You assured, passing a hand through his blonde hair.
Naki clung to you, trying his best to stop crying, but he didn't stop until he had let out all his pent up emotions.
"Promise me I won't have to do that again." He whimpered against your chest.
"I promise you won't have to reset my knee ever again. I'll be careful from now on." You promised. "And hey, wanna know something?"
Naki lifted his head from you, curious.
"You'd make a good doctor." You praised. "You handled that like a champ, it couldn't have gone any better than that."
The small smile that creeped its way onto your boyfriend's face made your heart flutter.
"Really?" He asked. "You have to be super smart to be a doctor, I don't think I'd be quantified..."
"You'd be qualified if you had the opportunities." You answered. "Has Yamori ever let you participate in his uh... Activities? You know, the ones he started after getting out of Cochlea?" You were still a bit uncomfortable at acknowledging that you had an acquaintance that tortured people for fun...
"Hm, torture?" Naki asked. "I watched him a few times, yeah."
"That... that sort of counts like surgery, I suppose..." You muttered. "It's super advanced doctor stuff. And you participated in that, so congrats. You're technically a higher qualified doctor than me." You loved the way he brightened up.
"I'm a surgerist, then?" He asked joyfully.
"Surgeon." You clarified, snuggling into him. "And sort of, it's just that you don't have the diploma, but that's no big deal when it comes to the White Suits and Aogiri."
"We're a smart couple!" He cheered. Oh, how you loved this boy.
"Yeah, we are."
EDIT: Lol I just remembered Naki spent a lot of time in Cochlea before TG and all so this SORT OF doesn't add up but it does anyway?? Rest in Peace reader when Naki gets captured omg I feel so bad about it. I MIGHT WRITE SOME ANGST ABOUT THAT AAYYY

8 166Duality of a Soul
In the land of magic and demons, knights and forgotten ancient technologies. What would you do if you were to wake up one day amidst all of this without your memories? Follow along with our main character as he struggles to establish his new identity while the shadows of his past threaten to consume him. To be a detested hero or celebrated villain? Only time will tell. Author’s Note: Heavily influenced by fantasy goodness far and wide, I hope to make it somewhat original with a sense of familiarity to you. The overall story is pieced together through the perspective of the characters presented, first + third person narrative styles because I enjoy reading novels with similar storytelling. Please feel free to provide any comments and constructive criticisms for me because I love to read what you think so I can continue to improve on my imperfections and make the story better. Cheers!
