A/N: okay so after the Rose extermination things just go completely off script just for the sake of the plot. No Rushima yet and stuff, just so I can avoid spoilers because requested this and he hasn't finished the manga yet. And yes I know Eto probably wouldn't do that but she was the only person I had thought of so...
Wrong. Everything feels so, so wrong... You're not supposed to be alive... You're supposed to be dead, to be in pieces right now. So why weren't you again..?
"Wake up, (Y/N)..."
You jolted forwards, ripped away from your sleep. Ripped away from the only peace of mind you get each day.
"Too much sleep isn't good for the baby, after all!"
You glared at Eto, who was happily prancing around the room before returning with human meat.
"You're not getting my child." You repeated. It was the same thing everyday. Eto woke you up, forced you to eat human flesh while you told her she wouldn't have your child and she wouldn't have it grow up the way she did.
"Of course I'll have it!" She giggled. "Who'll save the two of you anyway? The CCG knows your betrayal, your friends are either dead or think you're dead... You've got no other choice, do you? Besides, is that any way to talk to your saviour?"
You coldly glared at her when she thrusted the human flesh in front of your face. "I never asked you to save me, therefore I have no reason to be grateful." You answered before taking the 'meal' from her and consuming it. You knew better than to disobey her on this matter by now, no matter how horrid the acts you were obeying were. If you didn't do this, both you and your child would die.
"Yadda, yadda. I really hope my kid won't have your attitude, or their father's either, actually." She sighed before ripping off the cover of the somewhat comfortable bed while you choked down the meat. "Oh, you're starting to show!" She cheered. "That's good!"
"It's not going to be your kid, Eto. I'll get the fuck out of here before you can lay your filthy hands on my baby." You growled. "I swear it."
"Hm, determined." She commented, ignoring you completely. "Oh, I chose the right parents alright! Anyways, time for the daily walk, since in order for the baby to be healthy, you gotta be healthy too..." With that, she pulled you up by the arms and led you out of your cell.
You simply followed behind, looking around to see if anything had changed since your walk yesterday. Just the smallest detail could be the key to your escape, you had to keep your eyes open for absolutely anything.
"Your little boyfriend was a koukaku, right?" She asked, emphasizing the 'was', which made your heart break once again.
"He IS a koukaku." You corrected. Shuu wasn't dead. You did not throw yourself at Haise for nothing. You had been in denial for three months, and you'll stay in denial until you see him again.
Eto simply chuckled. "You're too stubborn for your own good, it'll be your downfall."
"No, it'll be the key to get out of here." You shot back, frowning. You just wanted to kick her down a set of stairs and then jump on her face...
"Aw, don't frown, (Y/N)! It's not good for the baby!" She teased, knowing that despite how much you tell her you'll do anything to make sure she doesn't get your child, ruining its health is not one of them.

You simply huffed and shut up, looking around the place. Nothing was different, yet again, save for a purple haired teen who passed the both of you. You craned your neck to get a better look at him, and he seemed to do the same since you ended up in a staring contest for a few seconds before he turned back, looking uninterested. So you two aren't alone in here...
"You know I'm doing you and the Tsukiyama guy a favor, right?" She piped up, dragging you along the corridor you knew was the last before you ended up in your cell again. "You could never have been able to raise that child, especially with your affiliation with the CCG."
"Which I would have disregarded. I'm not stupid, Eto." You countered.
"One of the two of you would have run away." She commented. "Do you really want your child to end up like me?"
"Is that you trying to say you'd raise it to not be a pawn in your little plans?" You huffed out. "I know better than that. It's just a game to you. You're using us all to get your desired ending."
Eto sighed before opening the door to your cell. "There's a bigger picture here, (Y/N). Your child could be a big part of it."
With that, she pushed you in and closed the cell door before locking it.
"I'll be back for lunch, behave!" Eto waved and left, giggling to herself.
••••
The last two weeks had been the most stressful you had ever endured. Each day, your stomach was swelling up even more, and Eto grew more excited for the child that was slowly being created inside of you.
Any day now, you could go into labor and you still hadn't found a way out.
Slowly, you attempted to get out of your bed to pace around the room once more. The baby pressed onto your organs and you couldn't find a comfortable position to sleep in.
Once on your feet, you clumsily walked to the cell door, before turning around and looking around your small and dull room. After this baby, you'd have nothing to track time with. Hell, maybe you won't even need to track time. Eto will probably want the mother completely out of the picture to raise your child.
Like if you were going to let that happen. You might be pregnant, but you can still kick ass. She wouldn't dare hurt you too much, since it could affect the baby's health. Hell, you were lucky it survived the stab wound Haise gave you eight months ago.
The jingle of keys and the rattling of your cell's door knob snapped you out of your thoughts. Was that Eto swinging by to scold you about neglecting sleep?
"You good?" The unfamiliar voice spoke out, making you furrow your eyebrows in confusion.
"Uh, yeah... I'm not going into labour." You answered, recognizing the purple hair on the male's head. Right, that's the dude you saw walking in the hallway...
"Listen, you can't make a sound, okay? I'm busting you out of here." He said, grabbing the fabric of your shirt (which was way too big for you) and tugging you out of the small room.
"Huh? What?" You frowned. "Listen, if this is Eto doing thi-"
"It's not Eto. I'm tired of her shitty antics. If you die Touka'll kill me." He answered, making you even more confused.

"Tou-"
"Start walking, I'll explain." He groaned as you obeyed his order. "Name's Kirishima Ayato. I'm Touka's brother."
"Ayato? Dude, you're the one she's been talking shit about?" You gasped, finally seeing the resemblance between the two. "Hold the fucking phone, she's a ghoul?!"
You had known Touka when she opened up her cafe, :Re. You loved how determined she was at making it a cozy and lovely place and you supported her 100%. You used to be a regular costumer (and good friend of hers) until Eto kidnapped you.
"Yeah, surprise. Now you better keep your mouth shut about that or I'll kill you, instead." He threatened as the two of you sneaked out of the place with no problem.
"How come there's like no one? It's suspicious." You whispered once you were outside. Ah, how you had missed the cool night air...
"Because everyone knows if you mess with Eto you're fucking dead." He answered, dragging you along in the dark forest. "And I have no will to live anymore so I might as well get myself killed here trying to do a good thing."
"Jeez, who died?" You asked with a concerned tone.
"A friend of mine got kidnapped by the CCG." He answered.
"By the way you say this, sounds like a bit more than a friend."
"Shut the fuck up or I'll drag you back in there." He growled, making you raise your hands in the air in surrender.
"Alright, alright, just bring me to Touka please..."
••••
"Ayato?!" The purple haired girl exclaimed, ignoring your presence. She stomped to her brother, fist raised, ready to beat the shit out of him for showing his face in her café (after closing hours, too), until Yomo's voice made her stop.
"Miss (L/N)." He calmly spoke, looking from your face to your stomach, then back to your face. "We heard you had died."
"Huh?" Touka glanced behind her brother, where you were shyly standing. Her eyes widened seeing your (pregnant) state. "(Y/N), oh my god!"
"Yeah, hi..." You started, waving. You were about to add something else, until Touka pushed her brother aside to hug you, careful not to hit your belly.
"We all thought you died! Do you know what kind of shit I had to endure from Tsukiyama?! He was crying like a baby! And why are you pregnant?!" Her questions threw you off guard and the only thing you could do was hug her back tightly.
"I'm sorry, Aogiri kidnapped me to try and take the baby. Ayato broke me out, so don't beat him up yet." You replayed her sentence before gasping. "What do you mean you had to endure Shuu- he's alive?!" You exclaimed, your grip on the girl tightening even more.
"We saved him after the raid." She explained, pulling away from the very long but comforting hug. "He was heartbroken. Seriously, I think he stopped eating for a while too..."
"I need to see him! Where is he now, is he okay now? Is he eating properly? Oh gosh, has he moved on?" You asked, now your turn to overwhelm Touka.
"He's been in denial since you left." She said. "Listen, I'm not gonna have you wandering around at night. You're staying upstairs tonight and we'll move you somewhere safer tomorrow because I know for a fact that Aogiri will be looking for you both." She looked at her brother. "And thank you, Ayato."
The boy shook his head, waving off his sister's apology. "I didn't want to stand around and watch Eto torture a fucking baby." He said nonchalantly.
"Okay, now that we've covered my disappearance, you're a ghoul?!" You exclaimed, making Touka wince.
"Yeah, sorry for not telling you. It's not that I don't trust you, but you were in the CCG and..."
"You didn't trust me, I understand." You said, smiling. "Still, I didn't know ghouls could run a café! What about the food?"
"It's all just recipes. I don't actually taste the food." She answered.
"Damn, and I thought I couldn't admire someone more than right now! You're-" Your smile was wiped off when you noticed what felt like water was literally pouring down your legs. Your bladder could not hold that much in, it couldn't be...
"What? What's..." She glanced downwards and noticed the puddle now accumulating on the floor, eyes widening in fear. "Yomo, call an ambu-"
"No!" You yelled, grabbing her shoulders. "The CCG knows I betrayed them, remember? I can't be seen in a public place!"
Touka grabbed your elbows to help you support your weight, panicking. "Certainly you don't mean-"
"Yes, unless you know a doctor that won't go ahead and tell the whole world I have a half ghoul child, it's gonna have to happen here!" You screeched, making the two boys in the room actually scared for their lives.
Touka wasn't calming down. If anything, she was getting more nervous by the second and you could see it. You knew she wasn't trained for this, but Eto did prep you in any way possible to make the birth easier and you were going to use that to your advantage right now.
"Touka." You spoke, making the girl turn her attention towards you. "Take deep breaths, it's gonna be fine. You'll be fine. I trust you, and I assure you it's going to be alright." You calmly said, despite the excruciating nervousness swelling up inside you and the contractions that were hurting like a bitch.
"I can't believe you're the one pregnant and giving me a pep talk." She chuckled before becoming serious once again. "Should I call Tsukiyama?"
You really wanted to say yes, you did, but right now, you needed a fucking plan.
"Not right now. I'm not gonna give birth in five minutes, though. Set me up, time the contractions, and call him if we have time. But it might be a huge shock for him to know his girlfriend's alive AND giving birth to his child."
Touka nodded before dragging you upstairs and ordering the boys to guard the place in case Aogiri swings by early.
••••
"I can't believe we just did that." Touka sighs, watching you cradle your now calm baby.
"You were amazing, Touka." You said, smiling at her. "Thank you. I'll be sure to help you out when it'll be your turn."
The girl blushed furiously. "I-It'll never be my turn!" She exclaimed, shutting up when you teasingly put a finger on your lips and nodded to your sleeping son.
"Never say never!" You sang out, enjoying how flustered she was. "Anyways, I haven't heard of Yomo and Ayato in a while, are they okay?" You worriedly asked.
Touka shook her head. "They're fine, don't worry about them. Right now, you should be resting."
"Oh, hell no! Aogiri could be coming to get us at anytime and I'm not gonna snooze off during the fight." You stubbornly said. "But if you go check on them downstairs, could you call up Shuu..?" You hopefully asked, smiling widely when Touka nodded and got up.
"I guess he should see his son, shouldn't he?" She sighed before exiting the room, stopping in her tracks and looking back at you. "Thank you, by the way." She sweetly said, looking from you to your child.
"Thank you for what?" You curiously asked.
"Thank you for reminding me that there's still some hope in this world." She specified, before leaving for good, leaving you alone with your son and utterly confused.
••••
You were comfortably conversing with Touka about what you had missed during your eight months of absence before hearing loud knocking downstairs.
You glanced worriedly at Touka. "Aogiri?" You asked, visibly relaxing when she shook her head and smiled at the hurrying footsteps going up the stairs.
Your heartbeat sped up at the only possibility left, sitting up in the bed and intensely looking at the doorway, where a man you recognized instantly threw himself through. He was a bit too thin for your liking, but that was Tsukiyama Shuu alright.
"Where is she?!" He looked at Touka before turning the other way, worried eyes falling on you.
"Shuu..." You shakily breathed, feeling the tears building up in the corner of your eyes. "You're really alive..."
The man froze in place, looking at you up and down before taking three steps forward and throwing himself at you, burying his face in your neck where he started sobbing like he had held up all his torment and sadness during those awful eight months. Which he hadn't. These were fresh new feelings.
You couldn't help but cry too, barely noticing Touka who had awkwardly left the two of you alone.
One of your hands found its way to his hair, that beautiful shade right between blue and purple that you adored. You stroked his oddly dry hair, both of you sobbing like there was no tomorrow.
"I missed you so much..." He whimpered between his weeping. "I thought you fell to your death."
"I thought you had died!" You answered, gripping him tighter. "Eto told me... She said the CCG had gotten to you..!"
He leaned back, looking into your puffy red eyes. "I'm okay. We're okay..." He glanced sadly at your stomach before going back up to your face. "It didn't make it..." He whispered, making you stop your now silent crying and place your hands on his cheeks, caressing his skin. "Did Touka not tell you..?"
"I hung up when she said you were alive..." He shamefully said. "I'm so sorry, I should have protected you both. I was just so mad and desperate to-"
"Shuu." You sternly said. "I gave birth to your son literally half an hour ago. He's resting there." You nodded to your right, where a makeshift crib was sitting, your baby peacefully sleeping inside it.
Tsukiyama's head snapped to his left, looking at the infant sleeping, tears returning to his eyes.
"Eto did nothing to him, don't worry. He's healthy, Touka and I are sure of it." You said, smiling at your son.
"Can I..?" He asked, leaning down to take a better look at his child.
You nodded, watching as Shuu picked up the kid as if he could break it if he wasn't gentle enough. You smiled, eyes going from one to the other, immediately seeing the resemblance.
"Salut, toi..." Shuu cooed, cradling the baby to his chest before looking back at you. "You're a living, breathing miracle, to create such a wonder." He spoke, making you smile and lean against his shoulder, looking down at your son.
"Thanks, you have no idea the horrors Eto made me do and eat." You said, before quickly changing the subject so Shuu wouldn't get upset. "Thank god he has your nose."
Your boyfriend simply chuckled. "Your nose is cute too, you know. I'm sure he resembles you too."
"Yeah, we'll be thanking god again once he has my personality." You teased, giggling at his offended reaction.
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding. We'll be blessed no matter what. He is a Tsukiyama after all." You said, reassuring Shuu.
"What's his name?" He asked, looking back down at the miracle in his arms.
"I didn't want to name him without you, but he's definitely going to have your last name." You said, frowning at the look your lover gave you. "Tsukiyama Shuu, we are not naming our child Kaneki."
"I'm sorry mon amour, you're right. He smells much better than Kaneki." Shuu apologized.
You gave him a strange look before ignoring what he just said. "I was thinking about the name, but I want to know what you think before I request it."
"I love the sound of Tsukiyama Hikaru." Shuu admitted, gazing lovingly at his newborn son. "What was your idea?"
You lifted your head to look at Shuu. "I like the name Kanae." You said, your heart breaking when you noticed the poor man was fighting back tears again. "I heard about what happened to her. I'm really sorry." You cupped the side of his face with your palm, stroking the apple of his cheek with your thumb and wiping away the few tears that managed to escape his eye.
"I'm just really grateful that you'd name him after her..." He explained, leaning into your soft touch. "I'd love to name him Kanae."
"Then Kanae it is." You declared, before looking up at the man you loved with all of your heart. "You can't even fathom how happy I am to see you." You said, smiling, although it was a bit melancholic. So many emotions were going through your brain right now...
"I think I know the feeling." He answered. "After all, you were gone for eight months. It was a really painful time for both of us."
You let out a hum of agreement before leaning forward and kissing him gently. It had been eight months since you kissed him, eight months since you even had physical contact with the man, and yet the butterflies in your stomach were still alive and kicking. Were you ever going to go out of your honeymoon phase? Hopefully, the answer would be no.
Shuu kissed you with passion, making you pull away. "Don't drop Kanae." You warned, giving him a stern look as he nodded and placed the still sleeping baby back in his crib.

Zombies
This is one of three stories that I am offering as a test run. If you like it, then I'll choose to continue working on it. I have a whole plot line ready to explore! What can I say, I'm a sucker for rebirth, regression, and transmigration stories. This one is a regression story. The main character get's yeeted back in the past, to where the end began. Read on tortured souls as I do my best to break the weak, and sooth those who don't have a soul to break. I spent some time trying to make a story that explores all the gritty situations a resident of the apocalypse would encounter. Unfortunately, I do struggle with pace. I get just as impatient as you when I can't get to the next bloody encounter. But I despise OP characters, and I really wanna stop and explore the fascinating death of civilization. I write this in hopes of making a main character who get's to be the bad-ass I can't be, without, you know, skipping the good stuff.
