"On one condition."
Larry contiued.
Y/N looked at him with an eyebrow now raised but softened her look and thought it was the least she could do for him.
"Anything,"
She replied.
"Anything? Well that makes me want to re-think my choice."
Larry smirks and seems to flick through all his choices of what he could make
Y/N do for him.
Y/N feels her palms getting sweaty and started to look back at her answer and frown upon her choice of words that could have possibly been frazed better.
'Oh gosh...'
Y/N thought.
A lightbuld went off in Larry's head as he looked back to Y/N with that sly smirk of his only growing.
"I want you to..."
Present Time:
"You're going to have to skip school with us,"
Larry finally decides.
"What?!"
Y/N shouts in surprise. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, but, to be fair she did say anything.
"Larry, do you know who my parents are?"
"Nope,"
Larry responds although it was a retorical question.
"Well, they are very strict people. And I'm not an exception to them, I will get murdered if my parents ever found out I skipped school!'
Y/N states; trying to reason with the brunette male.
"Don't care. I've made my decision and if you ever want to earn my forgivness; then you have to do it."
Larry reasons.
"Besides, you did say 'anything'."
"Thats true,"
Sal buts in, only to have a glare sent his way by none other than Y/N. Sal puts his hands up and backs off with a slight chuckle.
Y/N whines at the realisation that she will infact have to skip school. For Larry.
"Come on! Please don't make me do this Larry..!"

Y/N tries to beg her way out of this but Larry isn't having it.
"Wow I guess you really don't want my forgivness. Well then, I'll just be on my way-!"
Larry gets cut off by a familiar sweet voice.
"Fine!"
Y/N huffs in frustration that she couldn't 'cute' her way out of this.
"Fine what?"
Larry presses with a smirk.
"I'll go..."
She mumbles back.
"What was that? I couldn't hear you,"
"I'll do it!"
Y/N glares at him.
Larry chuckles and nods.
"Thats what I like to hear. "
The H/C haired girl just groans and flops back on the couch.
Sal and Larry eventually leave after the whole facade, and Y/N sighs - knowing exactly what will happen if she gets caught during this arrangment.
Y/N does her nightly routine before hopping into bed. Replaying todays burst of events in her head, whilst already hating her day tomorrow.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!
Y/N sits up in her bed; startled at the sudden noise.
Realising it was just her annoying alarm clock she turns it off, slowly forcing herself out of bed and towards her closet.
Picking out a more grand outfit. Grabbing her rhinestone covered miniskirt, velvet pink cropped zip up sweater, her shiny beaded belt and a pair of black platform with pink interior shoes.
Throwing everything on Y/N begins her makeup. Deciding on some rose gold eyeshadow and black eyeliner, adding foundation plus conceiler, then to top it all off; a clear sparkly lip gloss.
Walking over to her full body mirror she smiles at how amazing she looks in said outfit choice. And her makeup well to say the least, she was quite proud of.
Struting out of her room she didn't see anyone, finding it quite peculiar as to why there wouldn't be a single soul in sight - not even her mother.

'Maybe she's still sleeping, or went on one of her morning walks?'
Brushing it off and assuming her mother was fine, Y/N made her way towards the kitchen deciding on something easy and quick; toast.
Once she popped the toast in the toaster she took a deep breath and figured she could just pack her bag for school while she waited.
Oh wait...she wouldn't need to, she was skipping. So, she wouldn't have a purpose to packing all her school supplies and notebooks just to not use them. Its just extra added weight to carry.
Y/N groaned at the returning memory of their little 'agreement' last night.
Getting lost in her the thoughts the sound of the toast popping up scared the E/C eyed girl.
Y/N walked over and spread some butter on the toast (or jam if you prefer). Munching away while she grabbed her 'juicy' designer bag running out the door. Sprinting she wondered if maybe she could run fast enough the two boys wouldn't catch her before she got to class.
Tempting fate she decided on said plan.
Y/N began sprinting faster and sighed in relief as she spotted the schools gates not too far ahead - glad she hadn't even spotted either of the two males so far.
Y/N ran even faster but not before a particular person stopped her by grabbing her bag just as Sal had done during previous events.
"Hey there, Y/N. Where do you think you're going?"
The familiar deep voice of Sal passed through Y/N's ears.
'Crap.'
"Hiya, Sal!"
Y/N changed her scared demeanor into a more non-chalant tone of voice - acting as though she didn't just get caught trying to run from their deal.
"Hows it goin'? Been awhile."
Y/N nervously laughs while Sal just holds a more sarcastic smile.
"Indeed it has, now, where did you think you were going?"
"Oh, hah...off to find you guys of course!"
Y/N lied.
"Really? Thats strange because you happened to run right past us just now."
Sal confronts; knowing exactly what
Y/N's trying to do.
"Oops! Haha, didn't see you there I guess,"
Y/N tries to walk away from the awkwardness but Sal pulls her back once more.
"Y/N, just stop. You're not getting out of this,"
Sal finally tells her.
"Ugh, I know. Why else do you think I was trying to run away from you,"
Y/N sighs and allows herself to be dragged away by Sal over to Larry who is leaning against a willow tree watching the whole situation go down.
"Hi Y/N."
Larry greets, dropping the cigarette he was working on to the ground and smashing it with his shoe.
"H-H e y, Larry,"
Sal laughs before all three of the students hear the schools bell go off.
"Thats our cue to leave, come on Y/N,"
Larry grabs her hand and pulls her away. Ignoring the sudden glare he received from not Y/N but - Sal.
Sal stood still while the two walked off, but then he was noticed missing by Y/N.
"Sal! Come on!"
She yells out.
Sal immediatly softens his gaze once his eyes meet Y/N's bright ones. With a smile he starts jogging up to the two.
"I'm coming, I'm coming,"

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion.
