"These images tell a story. To learn the story, you have to decipher these images." Alaric shows me these images that he found in a cave, from Viking times.

"The ghost of Christmas past, Mason Lockwood, said that the cave would lead us to a weapon that could kill Klaus." Damon tells us.

"Yeah, but doesn't Mikael have a weapon?" Elena asks.

"Yes, which probably means the wall will lead us to Mikael, who we already found and lost." Damon says, continuing to pretend fighting with Elena.

"Well, these images wouldn't be there if they weren't important, so the story leads to something. We have to find out what it means." I explain.

"Fine, fine. If I'm being irritatingly optimistic like you three. How do we suppose we do that?" Damon asks.

"Well, if the story's about the original family living here, then we go straight to the source." Elena says.

"Rebekah?" Alaric asks.

"She'll kill you in an instant." Damon says.

"She's clingy and emotional. She won't kill Elena." I say and they all nod.

Elena comes back to the loft, Damon went to the Forbes cell to check on Stefan.

"Here's the thing." Elena says and me and Alaric sigh. "She's willing to explain everything, but she hates me... so she won't talk to me." Elena says glaring at me.

"She wants to talk to me?" I ask.

"Yeah." Elena nods. "She wants to tell you. Don't know why but that's the only way we get the whole story." Elena says and I sigh

"Fine, I'll go. But I still can't drive." I say and Elena laughs, offering to drive me there. We arrive to the boarding house, which is where she has been staying.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Elena asks. "I mean, can you handle this?" Elena asks. She's been extra worried about you since last night.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I promise." I say walking into the house. I walk into Rebekah compelling girls wearing homecoming dresses.

"Did you actually compel your own private runway show?" I ask.

"I need a homecoming dress. And so do you since I know you aren't the type to wear a dress, so pick one for me, then one for you." Rebekah says. I knew she was going to hurt one of the girls if I didn't answer, so I played it safe.

"For you, the red one, and I guess the green one, but I hate all of these." I say and Rebekah smirks.

"Smart choice. Now go away." She compels the girls and they just walk away.

"So why couldn't you just talk to Elena?" I ask.

"Because I like you. You weren't bad to me like the boys were in Chicago." Rebekah says truthfully, but I knew that's not all of the story.

"Ok, so what's the actual reason on why you wanted to talk to me." I ask and she rolls her eyes.

"I forgot huntresses were able to do that, ok, the reason is you and Klaus." Rebekah says smirking. "The way he looks at you is a look I haven't seen in a very very long time." Rebekah says, which makes me furrow my eyebrows.

"Huh?" I ask.

"I thought you people were suppose to be smart. Ok let me tell you like this. What happens in the store in Chicago?" Rebekah asks.

"You we're trying on dresses, asked me to try on, i said it was tortured and laughed as I went to a dressing room." I say.

"Ok. What I saw is that I asked you to try on a dress, you said this was torture to Klaus, then laughed looking at Klaus. Then as you walked to the dressing room, Klaus never took his eyes off you." Rebekah says.

"If I think what you're trying to point out is right, you're wrong. He killed me, he killed my mom, then he almost killed me again, he—"

"Ok, ok. I get it." Rebekah says, interrupting me. "You don't like him, but that doesn't mean he's not into you, cause with history, this has never happened." Rebekah says.

"Can you just get along with the story that i came here for?" I ask.

"Fine. What do you want to know?" Rebekah asks.

"Elijah said that your father was a land maker in Europe. How did you guys end up here?" I ask.

"My parents has just started a family when a plague struck their homeland. They lost a child to it. They wanted to escape and protect their future family from the same fate." Rebekah explains.

"But the age of exploration hasn't even happened yet. I mean, nobody knew about the Americas yet." I say.

"You definitely are school smart, but wrong. Your history books may say all of that, but people knew. Anyways, my mother knew the witch Ayana, who heard from the sprits of a mystical land where everyone was healthy... blessed by the gifts of speed and strength. That lead my family here, where we lived amongst those people."

"You mean, the werewolves?" I ask and Rebekah nods.

"To us, they were just our neighbors. My family lived in peace with them for over 20 years, during which time my family had more children, including me." Rebekah explains.

"You make it sound normal."

"It was." Rebekah says and continues the story. "Once a month, our family retreated to the caves beneath our village. The wolves would howl through the night. And by morning, We'd return home." I could tell Rebekah didn't want to finish the story, meaning it had a bad ending.

"One full moon, Klaus and my youngest brother Henrik snuck out to watch the men turn into beasts. that was forbidden. Henrik paid the price. And that was the beginning of the end of peace with our neighbors. And one of the last moments my family had together as humans." Rebekah gets interrupted by my phone ringing.

"You better get that. That'll be Damon checking up on you." Rebekah says, which she is right.

"How do you know?" I ask.

"Klaus was talking about the way Damon talked about you, protected you in a blood related type of way. Answer it, the buzzing is annoying." Rebekah says and I answer my phone.

"Hello." I say, in which he says hey back. I heard music in the background and I had an instinct that Stefan was there too. Ever since I saw the 1492 huntress, I've changed my headset on the aspects on the huntress, not letting it change who I am since I can hurt more, take the good with the bad, but focus on the good. I focus on getting instincts, instead of the fear of getting hurt.

"Damon, seriously? Why is Stefan with you and where are you guys?" I ask.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Stefan is locked up, in a cage." Damon says.

"Damon, I got a feeling that he's there. I'm usually right." I mention.

"She's right. I'll be at the bar." I hear Stefan shout.

"I'm right. Look, I got to go and before you ask me, I'm okay. I'll see you later." I hang up on Damon before he can say anything else.

It has been a long time, and Rebekah has been avoiding finishing the story, snooping in Stefan's room.

"Can we continue the story." I ask and Rebekah walks up to me.

"Let's talk about Chicago, again." Rebekah says and i roll my eyes.

"Rebekah, I know he's your brother and all, but I hate him. He's done everything to hurt me in all different ways. If anything were to happen it would become complicated and it would make me a horrible person." I say, then I realized what I said.

"Hmm, if anything were to happen. Are you suggesting you think something will happen?" Rebekah asks.

"That's not what I meant. Why would I be with a person who killed the persons who birthed me?" I ask.

"Sometimes love is too powerful that it takes over."

"Rebekah, drop it. Now go on with your story." I cross my arms and Rebekah sighs.

"So the necklace Stefan gave Elena, it wasn't his to give. It belonged to the original witch." Rebekah says.

"The one whole placed the hybrid curse on Klaus?" I ask.

"Not just the hybrid curse. She's the one who turned us into vampires. The original witch just didn't want any more of her family to die—"

"Wait, are you saying vampirism was a form of protection?" I ask Rebekah, interrupting her.

"What else would it be?" Rebekah asks.

"A curse."

"My parents only saw a way of keeping their children alive." Rebekah mentions.

"You know there's something called traveling. Why didn't you just move to a new set of land?" I ask.

"Pride. My father didn't want to run anymore. He wanted to fight and be superior to the wolves. Where they could bite, we had to bite harder. Where they had speed, we had to be faster. Agility, strength, senses. Ayana wouldn't do the spell, so it was in my mother's hands to protect us."

"Your mothers hands?" I ask. "What does your mother have to do with this?" I also ask

"Because my mother was also a witch. The witch of the original family, the original witch." Rebekah says, which makes me confused.

"But wouldn't you be a witch?" I ask and she sneaked her head.

"A witch is nature's servant. A vampire is an abomination of nature. You can either be one or the other, never both. My mother did this for us. She did not turn." Rebekah explains.

"Well, how did she create the vampire species?" I ask.

"She called upon the sun for life and the ancient white oak tree, one of natures eternal objects for immortality. That night, my father offered us wine laced with blood. And then he drove his sword through our hearts. And he wasn't delicate about it either." Rebekah says.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry you had to experience that."

"You actually mean that, don't you?" Rebekah asks and I nod and Rebekah lets out a little smile from her lips before continuing the story.

"Ayana was right about the consequences. The spirits turned on us, and nature fought back. For every strength, there would be a weakness. The sun became our enemy. It kept us indoors for weeks. Neighbors who had opened their homes to us could now keep us out. Flowers at the base of the white oak burned and prevented compulsion. And the spell decreed that the tree that gave us life could also take it away. So we burned it to the ground. But the darkest consequence was something my parents never anticipated... the hunger. Blood had made us reborn, and it was blood that we craved above all else. We could not control it. And with that, the predatory species was born." Rebekah says and I was shocked.

I saw Rebekah was getting emotional, bringing up this memory of her past. "Do you want me to go?" I ask and she shakes her head.

"There's still one last thing. You probably know Klaus' real father isn't Mikael." Rebekah says.

"Yeah, Elijah told Elena that your mom was in some kind of affair with a werewolf villager." I respond.

"She tried to make it right. She put the hybrid curse on Nik go suppress his werewolf side, and then she turned her back on him, but Mikael's greatest weakness as a human was his pride. As a vampire, that was magnified. He went on a rampage and killed half of the village. Then he came home and killed her."

"Mikael killed your mother?" I ask to confirm.

"He said she broke his heart so he would break hers. He tore it from her chest as Nik watched. Afterwards, my father took off in a rage, and the rest of my family scattered. Nik stayed so he could help me bury her. He knew I had to say good-bye to my mother." Rebekah says. "Elijah even stayed, and wish us 3 made a vow, always and forever."

"There's the story. You can go now." Rebekah says. "I don't know what you're up to but there you go."

"Rebekah, thank you." I say and walk out of the boarding house.

After I leave, we go back to the cave with the pictures of the story. During that time, Alaric filled in all the images with what he knew.

"Got vampire, werewolf, slaughter, mayhem, et cetera, et cetera." Alaric says and I look at the pictures.

"That's the white oak tree. It was used to create vampires. Which means that was when they burned the tree down, destroying the only way that they could be killed." I tell them.

"Okay, do tree equals weapon, sort of. But we already knew that." Alaric responds. "What we're not sure about is this." Alaric flashes his flashlight at one image. "We've got the witch symbol and what looks like a bleeding heart. Upside down figures usually signify death of some kind."

"Rebekah said Mikael killed the witch. So that one means the original witch died by getting her heart ripped out. But what's the one in the middle?" I ask, which nobody knows the answer.

I look at the other images on the cave wall and realized what that symbol meant.

"Mikael didn't kill her. That symbol means hybrid, hence the sign for vampire and the sign for werewolf put together. Which means Klaus killed his mom and didn't tell anybody. Rebekah doesn't know the real story. I have to go back and tell her."

"I thought I told you to leave." Rebekah says.

"There's a cave with images of your family's story. Have a look." I pull out the pictures Alaric printed out this morning.

"These three symbols were together. This one means original witch and this one means she died, but the one in the middle means hybrid. Rebekah, Klaus lied to you. Klaus was the one that killed your mother, not Mikael."

"No. No, he wouldn't." Rebekah shouts.

"Think about it, your mom put the curse on him, ashamed of a part of himself he couldn't control. She rejected him for what he is. Klaus is Klaus, so he acted off of anger, and killed her. Then he lied so he wouldn't lose you." I say

"These mean nothing." Rebekah shouts. "They're just stupid drawings. Done by stupid people who had no idea who my family was!" Rebekah throws the pictures in the fireplace.

"Why are you so upset, then?" I ask.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Rebekah asks. "I've done nothing to you."

"Yes you have. But the point is Klaus has a hold on you, on everyone." I mention.

"Get out! Now." Rebekah screams and i walk out and slam the door. But before I close the door I hear Rebekah cry.
