Sarah's POV

I look around me as more Grimm gather around me, and i reload the last mag into my spitfire, after this all i would have left is my smart pistol and my fist. Not the greatest position to be in, but these are the situations that pilots are meant to go into and come out, alive.

I injected some stim into myself and i let the surge in energy carry my legs forwards as i quickly shot a single bullet into each Grimms head, each time a satisfying pop would ring out as their bodies fell to the floor and dissipated. Eventually my stim ran out and i had to jump into the air so i could get my bearings, which honestly i should of never done considering just how many Grimm there really were. I look at how much ammo i have left and i had only 2 bullets left, I didn't bother with trying to use those two bullets and i just put my Spitfire onto my back.

Well, back into the fray i guess. I then fell back towards the ground and a beowolf went to try to swipe at me but i just jumped off it's head as i somersaulted forward so i landed away from the rest of the pack. I then ignored everything around me as i used my grapple at a nearby light post as i shot myself back into the air.

I took the chance to look around me and i saw from the corner of a nearby building i could see two paladins attacking a group of students. I acted immediately as i used a burst from my jump kit to head towards them, i eventually landed a distance away but when i looked up i saw that someone was fighting the two robots with some sort of blueish holographic weaponry. I tried to tell who was fighting but they were completely hidden by the robots and by how fast they were moving.

I tried to move closer to the paladins but i had to cover my eyes as one of the Paladins fell to the ground and something blew it to kingdom come. When the dust started to settle i could start to see who was fighting the Paladins, and my heart shot through the stars when i saw that it was Velvet.

Without thinking i just screamed out to her, "VELVET!" She turned towards me in confusion, but when she saw me she had the biggest smile that ever graced her face. But as soon as she went to turn back to the robot, a giant fist smashed her away, my heart just shattered into shrapnel when i saw her fall to the ground.

I turned towards the robot and i could start to feel my emotions get the best of me as i pulled out a satchel charge that i still had left, I was about to start running to the Paladin, but before i could move i saw a blur of White. It took me a second to realize that it was Weiss, she had a giant Glyph behind her, and when she got to the Paladin a giant arm with a sword formed behind her, and the sword was able to parry an attack from the Paladin but when it went to finish off the Paladin the sword turned to dust.

Everyone stood still as the Paladin stood in front of Weiss as it got ready to kill her.

I wave of emotions overcame me as my will to protect her controlled me forward, i did everything to get closer, i injected stim, a used my grapple and used my jump kit to move as fast as i could. I barely arrived in time to move Weiss away from where the Paladin now stood, i turned towards it and i grabbed the satchel charge, but then i felt a tug at my arm, i look down to see a Weiss in shock.

"S-Sarah," She didn't say anything else as her gaze fell to the ground, i lightly grip her hand as i lightly tap her cheek, it was good to know that she was safe for now, but i had to make sure that everyone here got out of here safely, including Velvet. I let go of Weiss as i stared at the Paladin in front of me, it was charging at me, but i acted immediately as i used my grapple and looped it around it's Legs as it started to trip up on itself and i took the chance to reach it's back and i manage to shove the satchel charge as close to it's fuel source i could. Eventually I could feel that the strain on my grapple was getting too high, so i had to release my grapple so it would break on me.

I jumped off of the Paladin, and i was behind it now, although that meant i wasn't it's target anymore and it was about to hit Weiss with a swing of it's arm. I wanted to activated the satchel charge, but i risked it hurting Weiss in the blast as well. I tried to sprint to save her again, i tried to fire my grapple towards her, but my heart stopped when i noticed that it wasn't coming out.

It took too much strain holding up the Paladin and it was jammed now, i could only watch in horror as i saw the fist come closer to a frozen Weiss.

But right before impact someone moved in front of the fist, and took the brunt of the impact, the figure was launched past everyone else, i looked at the figure as the dust cloud they created started to dissipate, when it did my heart broke when i saw a bodied Velvet trying to stand up.

Velvet was the one who took the impact for Weiss, and she was barely standing at this point, i tried to do something, i wanted to help Weiss, i need to see if Velvet was okay, i had to protect my students from this machine. But my legs won't move, i tried to force myself forward but i was completely frozen in time.

It wasn't until i heard someone shout at me, "SARAH, FIGHT!" I turned towards the sound to see that Velvet was smiling at me but she then fell to the ground. Something started to constrict my heart as i fell to my knees, but i was able to force myself back up again. I still held the detonator for the satchel charge in my hands, but i had to make sure that Weiss was far enough that it was safe for her.

I then thought of the stupidest plan i could do, i pulled out my smart pistol and i look towards Coco who was just gawking at everything like everyone else. I straighten myself as i shouted to her, "Miss Adel, do me the favor and get Weiss away from here, i will take care of this Paladin." She didn't do anything and seemed to be frozen much like everyone else, but i was starting to loose my patience i had to see that Velvet was okay.

"RIGHT THIS MOMENT COCO!" I shouted at her, this seemed to of broke her of her stupor, and i let out a heavy sigh as i pulled up my smart pistol tiredly and i aimed it at the paladin. Well here goes nothing i guess.

I started firing at the giant robot and it turned to focus on me now instead of Weiss, i let out a smile as i tried to turn around and run but i could barely manage a job, all the exertion and stim i went through is starting to catch up to my body. I just tried to back peddle a bit as i saw the robot as running closer to me and was about to smash me into the ground, but i then pulled the trigger on the detonator.

I waited a second and i saw a giant fireball formed from where the robot once stood. I had to continue moving back to avoid the heat that came from the explosion. I let out a heavy breathe as i fought the urge to lay down on my back. I turned towards where Velvet was and i started running to her, i had to make sure she was okay.

When i got to her my heart dropped when i saw a stream of bloom was coming from her head, i got on my knees and i picked her up as i tried to shake her away. It took awhile but her eyes fluttered open, i thank whatever god was out there and i hugged her immediately.

I eventually pull away and i look to see that Velvet was smiling, and i couldn't help but smile as well as i felt myself start to cry in relief, but as soon as i did i felt Velvet wipe away my tears,

"Sarah, there is no need to cry, i'm still alive, aren't i?" She whispered to me, and i couldn't help but laugh a bit at that i lean forward to kiss her, and she didn't deny me as she kissed me back. I felt so relieved to know that she was safe for now.

When i pulled away from the kiss, i noticed her entire face got red, i was about to ask her what was wrong but then she pointed to everyone who was behind us, and she whispered to me, "Did you really had to do that in front of everyone?" I let out a soft laugh as i turned towards everyone who either had a deep blush on their face, or in the case of Coco, a slight amount of resentment, but she just turned away from us.

I just pouted at them as i shouted to them, "What never seen a lesbian couple?" Most of them just turn away after that, i couldn't help but be happy. I turn towards Velvet who was struggling to keep her eyes open, but thankfully the wound on her head didn't look like it cut too deep, i just pray it didn't cause any brain damage.

"Sarah, i'm tired." I turned towards Velvet who closes her eyes, and i brush her hair away from her face as i tried to stand up, and fail.

"Then rest for now Velvet, i will protect you" I said to her, she just made a 'mhm' noise, and she seemed like she was sleeping for now. I went to pick her up so i could take her to an evacuation ship, but before i could i heard stomping in the distance. I turn around and i notice another Paladin show up.

I tried to force myself up and it took everything i had to stand up, and i noticed that i was limping forward, i went up to Coco and i put my hand on her shoulder, she turned towards me and i gestured towards Velvet, "I know you two aren't the best off, but please, watch over her for me, i will make sure that you are able to get away, but you have to leave now." She looked at me shocked, but she nodded at me as she went to pick up Velvet.

"You can't fight that thing in your condition, you will die if you do!" I turn towards the sound of the voice to see a still shaken up Weiss, i just give her a thumbs up as i start to limp forward.

"This is what i was trained to do, fight till the bitter end to win a war that nobody ever wanted, now go" I stated to everyone, but everyone just stood still, i turned towards them with anger in my voice this time, "I said GO, live to fight another day, i will be alright." I began to choke up at the end.

I know everyone else is beyond their limits, it was either me or them, i tried to turn towards the Paladin that was getting ready to charge at me, but i questioned what was the point of trying to fight it. I ran out of bullets, i ran out of explosives and i could barely move anymore.

I just fall onto my knees as i look up to the dark night sky, "I'm sorry Velvet, take care of yourself" I wanted to cry, i wanted to scream out, i wanted to curse the world for all of it's unfairness, but i just sit there and accepted my fate.

I close my eyes as i heard the loud thump of footsteps come closer to me, but instead of feeling myself being crushed, i heard the loud sound of metal on metal.

I open my eyes and i look up to see Lilith.
