《The Betrayed Pilot (Titanfall x RWBY)》Chapter 19

After spending a few days recovering in the infirmary, i was finally able to leave. Granted because my body was still healing for now, i was only allowed to move around in a wheel chair. But all things considered I'm not complaining, considering that Velvet was the one who was pushing me around.
After i was discharged and ready to leave, i turn around towards Velvet who was pushing me so that i could ask her a favor, "Hey Velvet, can you do something for me?" She turned towards me, but she simply nodded her head.
"Yah, what do you need, love?" I turn away from her as i felt my cheeks heat up a bit, but i decide to focus on what i wanted to do, "I know I'm supposed to stay in bed for the next few days, but can we stop by the hanger really quickly, i really wanted to see how Lilith was holding up. The last thing i remember is her being extremely damaged."
I turn my head slightly so that i was facing Velvet, but she looked kinda upset, "What's wrong Velvet?" She didn't say anything after awhile, but eventually she started to push me towards the direction of the hanger, and only muttered,
"I think it would be better if you saw for yourself." I was confused by what she meant, but i decide to just wait and see how Lilith is doing. I was concerned for her, because she looked really damage when she found me, and who knows how much more damage she took when we were escaping.
Velvet continued to push me around until we finally got to the hanger, and Velvet moves to open the door, but i noticed that she visibly paused right before she opened it. "Forgetting something?" i ask her as i reach into my pocket to throw the keys to unlock the hanger door for her.
"U-uh, right, i need these to actually open the door, i almost forgot." She tried to make a laugh, but it sounded really forced and awkward. But eventually after she stopped laughing and she went to open the door, and then she pushed me inside.

I look through the hanger and i felt my heart drop through the floor and shatter into pieces as i saw Lilith. She had several bullet holes in her armor, and several cuts that destroyed her armor and systems, and not to mention that one of her legs were off to the side of her. All i could do was raise my hand up to my face as i felt my soul being crushed.
I begin to feel tears dance around the edge of my eyes, but then i felt Velvet hug my back, "I'm so sorry that you have to see Lilith like this, it's all my fault."I could feel that Velvet was starting to cry as well, but i was more confused by what she meant it being her fault.
"Velvet, what do you even mean, it was my mission, and it was my fault for going in without waiting for back up. You have nothing to be sorry for." I felt her nod her head in my back, and she broke her hug off from me as she started to heads towards Lilith.
"You see, after we found you, we tried our best to escape. But after a string of events we ended on a train on course to crash into downtown Vale, and after the crash i was dazed. While i was still being disoriented from the crash, several Grimm were surrounding me, and were about to kill me." I could hear Velvet choke up a bit on her words, i try my best to push my wheelchair so now i was right next to her, and i gently grabbed her hand.
"T-Thank you Sarah, but as i stood there helplessly, i admitted to myself that i was probably going to die there in the middle of the streets and i just accepted it. I could only close my eyes awaiting my fate, with the only thing that i was regretting was not officially declaring my love for you." I gently squeeze her hand as i felt my face brighten up more at her sincerity.
"But thankfully when i opened my eyes, i was still alive. And i saw that Lilith was being mauled by several of the Grimm that should of killed me, i should be dead, and Lilith shouldn't be in this pos-" I pulled her wrist and forced her into a hug, i couldn't take hearing her degrade her own life anymore.

"Velvet, never abandon your life like that, i can never imagine loosing you now. And remember, i can always fix Lilith, it will take me a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. But i will never be able to replace you, okay." She nods to me, and that was enough to make me happy to know that i had Velvet at my side. Even if it did cost Lilith a leg.
I let Velvet stand up from my hug, and i move myself so now that i was in front of Lilith, she looked to be powered down, and i could really get a good look at all of the damage. It would take me weeks, maybe even months for me to be able to fully repair Lilith, but i was willing to put in all of the effort i needed to repair her.
I heard to light foot steps of Velvet right behind me, and i felt her hand on my shoulder, i gently grab her hand. But then i moved my hand away from her so now that i was inspecting the damage on Lilith, the more i looked at her, the more pain i felt in my heart, but it was at least good to know that everyone i cared about was safe for now.
"Thank you Velvet, for taking me here to see Lilith, and for living for me." I could see in the corner of my vision that she had a light pink tint on her face, and i couldn't help but smile from seeing it.
"And thank you, Lilith, for sacrificing so much to protect me, and for Velvet as well." I lightly tap Lilith's chassis as i let Velvet start to push the wheel chair back towards the hanger door.
"I think it's time for me to head back to my dorm, my ribs are killing me." I look back towards velvet and she did not look entertained at all.
"What?" She disappointingly nods at me as she drags me to my dorm. For the main part it was a quiet walk all the way back to my dorm, and i didn't mind it at all, i enjoyed just being near Velvet.
When Velvet finally pushed me to my dorm she opened the door, she pushed me so that i was next to my bed, and she helped me onto it. "Thank you Velvet, for everything." She gives me heartwarming smile, and she starts to head out, but before she did she turned towards me for a final time.
"Oh, Sarah i almost forgot to return this to you," She started to reach into her pocket, but i was more confused on what she was trying to return to me. She walked back up to me, and put something in my palm, i opened it to reveal my family pendant. I instinctively reached for my neck as i realized that it wasn't there.
"I should of given this to you, but the medics didn't want you to be wearing any from of jewelry, so i was holding onto it for you for now." I quickly put it back in the place where it belong right next to my heart, it felt like i could relax a lot more knowing that i had my pendant back now.
"Thank you again Velvet, for everything." She didn't say anything as she gave me a light peck on the forehead, and with her face blushing red she quickly left my room.
After i was sure that she was gone i opened my pendant and looked at the picture of my Mom and Dad, "Looks like I'm starting to make it further into life, one step at a time." I close my pendant and i leaned back into my bed as i felt sleep start to come over me.
