《RE: VILLAGE》Ch 10 (short)

It has been five days since all the Lords gathered at the castle. Baelfire sat in his room, looking at a pocket watch. In said pocket watch was a picture of his family. His mother sat on a chair, wearing the same clothes she wears to this day. And then there was..

"Hi dad." Baelfire spoke to himself. Beside his mother stood a well built man with shaved hair, a black beard that reached his collar bone, and a muscular figure. This was Baelfire's father. One of the many tributes for Lady Dimitrescu. He was about 7 or 8 when his father left for the castle.

"I'm sorry I haven't visited the Graveyard." He said, rubbing his thumb over the picture. "The flowers are probably dead." He apologized. "Well good night dad. I got a lot of work tomorrow. And the day after that, and the day after that..." He trailed on, slowly going silent. Baelfire closed the pocket watch and wrapped it around his neck. Baelfire was about to go to sleep, but something caught his attention.

"What the..?" He asked looking outside the window. In the dark night, a couple miles out, was a light. It was near the castle, and he never seen this light before. "Maybe they're other villagers. I should warn them to leave, so the mistresses don't hurt them." He said, putting on his worn slippers and wrapping the blanket around him.

Baelfire walked through the thick snow, carrying a lantern and hugging the blanket close. He was in the woods now, surrounded by leafless trees.

"Hello! Anyone there!" He shouted, shivering as he did so. "The mistresses don't like trespassers. So please just....leave?" Baelfire walked into the area the light was coming from only to be shocked silent.

In the area was tables with weird metal objects that glowed blue. There were metal beasts with four wheels instead of legs, black as the night sky. Baelfire looked around, looking for the inhabitants, but found no one. Baelfire decided to walk up to one of the machines. He sat down on a wooden chair, and looked at the machine.

"It has words?" He said. On the machine was buttons with every letter of the alphabet and even strange symbols. On the screen was words and sentences, but he couldn't understand any of it. "Let's see. How about this?" He pressed a button on the far right. The screen instantly changed, making the words disappear and bringing up a black screen with a emblem in the center.

"Wait a minute. That looks like.." He pulled out his pocket watch and opened it to show the picture. He looked closer at his father's ring finger and gasped.

It was the same emblem. Baelfire tried to process this information. Why would his father's ring be the same as this symbol on a machine he's never seen before. Before he could investigate, he heard a snarling sound. Baelfire stood up and shined his lantern around.

"Who's there?" The snarling began coming from all sides. "Please I mean no harm." He said. It started getting louder till it finally stopped. "Hello?" He asked, quiet as a mouse. Baelfire was going to walk away, but was stopped as cold air touched the back of his neck. Slowly turning around, Baelfire saw a beast-like human who's skin was grey and hair reached its nape. It had Sharp fangs with dried blood stained on them. It wore old clothes and a shirt that revealed it's hairy muscular chest. It's eye's were black as night.

Baelfire's screams pierced the quiet night.
