Kayla's POV

I skipped dinner last night. I just didn't feel like eating and Margaret said she was going to leave something on the counter before she left for the weekend. Now it was Saturday morning and it was still pouring outside.

I walked downstairs into the kitchen to see Christy making a pot of oatmeal. She looked at me when I came into the kitchen.

"Good morning. I hope you don't mind but I started making breakfast."

"I don't mind." I slid into a chair that was in front of the counter. "You slept well?"

Christy nodded as she stirred the pot of oatmeal. "There's supposed to be flooding in parts of the city today. Do you have any plans? I can always find something to do while you're out cause-"

"I don't have any plans, I just planned to stay in. Did you have plans?" I got up and got the bowls from the cabinet.

"No I didn't. I just didn't want to be a hassle or in the way of you."

"Christy you're never a hassle or in the way of me. You're always welcome to stay here." I placed the bowls on the counter.

Christy picked up the pot and poured the oatmeal into the bowls. Even though we weren't together anymore, we still acted like we were together. We still worked like we were still together, still able to work efficiently as a team without saying anything.

Christy sat on the seat and sprinkled cinnamon on top of her oatmeal. "Thanks again for letting me stay here."

I gave her a small smile. "No problem."

"So you guys are in the playoffs now? Two more games till the 'ship?" Christy asked as she took a scoop of her oatmeal.

"Yeah, we still got a long way to go though."

"You guys will do great. I'll be at the championship game for sure." Christy gave me a smile and I swear my heart melted.

I smiled back at her. "Oh yeah I still have some of your clothes. They're upstairs and I can give them to you after we eat."

We finished our oatmeal and headed upstairs to my room. I walked over to the closet because I have started to pack Christy's clothes but not all of them.

I pulled out a box which had some of her clothes. I see her standing by my desk, looking above it at the bulletin which held a bunch of photos we had together. It was full of Polaroids, ticket stubs, and love notes.

I walked over to her and she turned around and faced me. "You never took down the photos." She said softly as she looked up at me. Oh god I missed those soft brown eyes so much.

I hung my head down in embarrassment. I haven't had the heart to remove it. The board was literally a collage of our relationship. It had tons of photos of us kissing and hugging and it was just not appropriate since our relationship was so different now.

"Uh yeah, I just haven't gotten around to taking it down." I said while turning red.

"Don't be embarrassed, it's completely understandable." She said and she gave me a reassuring smile.

We were honestly so close to her. I could feel her breath on mine and if I just leaned a bit forward, I could kiss her. Oh god did I miss her lips. Her soft, delicate kisses and her rough, sloppy kisses were to die for.

"Oh you have my stuff!" She said, breaking me out of my trance to her lips.

"Yeah, some of your clothes. I still have to look for the other ones. Sorry about that."

"No it's okay. I only really need one set of clothes. I'll go to my room and change." Christy said as she headed for the door.

"Okay. Maybe later we could watch some Netflix together? Margret just bought this sweet kettle popcorn that is to die for."

"For sure." Christy said and she walked out the door.

As soon as she left, I honestly wanted to punch myself in the face because I almost kissed Christy. This wouldn't be a problem if I spent the whole time we've been broken up trying to build a friendship since Christy doesn't want a relationship with me anymore. I could've ruined everything just by kissing her. Like god what is wrong with me?!

Christy honestly makes me so weak and happy and warm inside and I shouldn't be feeling this way anymore. She made it clear she didn't want a relationship anymore. I have to respect that.

I decided to take a nap after that, I woke up 3 hours later feeling a bit better.

I walked out of my room and knocked on the guest room that Christy was staying in.

"Want to watch Netflix?" I asked as soon as she opened the door.

"Yeah sure." Christy walked out of the room and we headed for the kitchen.

I grabbed a bowl and the bag of popcorn and filled the bowl up. Christy opened the fridge and grabbed two Mexican Cokes and we headed to the living room to watch Netflix.

I picked an episode of Bob's Burgers clicked play.

"Dude this popcorn is so good!" Christy said with a mouthful of popcorn.

"I know, I told you so. Don't talk with your mouthful." I teased.

"Whatever." She grabbed the bowl of popcorn in her hand and started eating straight from the bowl.

I opened both our Cokes with a bottle opener then placed it on the table. "To Bob's Burgers and amazing popcorn." I held my Coke in the air toward her.

"Cheers!" She clinked her glass against mine and took a sip of the soda.

We ended up finishing a whole season of Bob's Burgers together. We started around noon and now it was 8 PM. Around 5 we ordered a pizza but now that was completely gone.

Let me just point out the fact that when we started watching Netflix, we were sitting on the opposite ends of the couch. Now Christy was sleeping on my shoulder. Yes somehow we ended up so close that she now fell asleep on my shoulder.

"Christy." I whispered as I tried to wake her up by lightly shaking her.

Christy groaned and didn't move, instead she just fell onto my lap.

"You need to get up, Christy, go to bed." I said as I shook her slightly.

"Carry me." She mumbled.

Was I really going to carry Christy back into her bed? Oh well might as well, I don't want her sleeping on the couch and hurting her neck. I put her arm around my neck and lifted her bridal style to her room. She was asleep like a rock so she was literally just sleeping in my arms.

I placed Christy into bed and I put the covers on top of her. Just as I was finished tucking her in, she pulled me into bed with her.

"Stay." She grumbled in her sleep.

Did Christy did ask me to stay in bed with her?

I slowly moved my body out of her grip but she pulled me back down. "Sleep with me." She said again in a sleepy tone.

"I can't. I'm sorry Christy." I walked out of the room and went straight to my room and laid on the bed.

Christy asked me to stay in bed with her and sleep with her. Did that mean she wanted me still? I know that I hurt her really badly and basically did a repeat of what her ex did to her, but is it possible there was a part of her that still wanted me back?

God that would be the best thing, Christy giving me a second chance. God if I could do it over with her I would. I'd say yes in a heartbeat. However I'm afraid I might hurt Christy again. I loved her so much, I couldn't bear to see it when she was so hurt.

But Christy deserves the world. And I don't know if I can give it to her. I don't know if she trusts me to give it to her. I don't know if I can give her what she deserves and that terrifies me. That means some other girl will be there to give it to her. I mean like Natalie probably has a thing for Christy but Christy doesn't seem too interested in Natalie. Natalie couldn't give her the world. Christy deserves better than Natalie.

That girl who was kissing Christy at that party needed to know her place too. She shouldn't just be kissing someone as amazing as Christy once and leave her again. Wait, I never got confirmation if that was her girlfriend.

Christy could have a girlfriend right now and I wouldn't even know it.

No...Christy would had told me...right?!

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in." I said as sitting up.

The door opened and Christy was there. "I woke up and I couldn't sleep. Could I hang here for a bit?"

"Yes of course." I said as I scooted over in my bed and patted the spot next to me.

Christy walked over and sat on the spot of my bed. "Why are you still up? Aren't you tired from all those episodes of Bob's Burgers?"'

"Yeah I am, but I was just thinking about stuff."

"What stuff?" She asked as she leaned closer to me.

"Just stuff! Why are you so nosy." I said as I lightly shoved her.

"Cause I'm curious."

"Mind your own business." I teased and she gave me frown.

There was a slight pause before Christy started talking again. "Remember when we went to that bonfire that some dude threw and the cops came and everyone was struggling to run away from the cops since it was at the beach?" Christy said with a laugh.

I laughed too as I recalled the memory. It was probably the closest I've been to getting caught with the police but it was probably one of the most vivid memories of high school I'll have. "And then Maddie crying at the supermarket because they were out of her favorite pop tarts?"

"Good times, good times." Christy said with a huge smile.

"Definitely."

There was another pause before she spoke again. "What did Steph say to you on Monday?"

I pursed my lips together and looked away. "Nothing."

"Kayla it was obviously nothing if you're acting like this now. Plus I saw your face when I was heading out.

"She told me to stay away from you since I'll hurt you again." I said softly.

"Steph can be a very overprotective sister." Christy said with a chuckle. "Has Maddie said anything to you yet?"

"Oh god no she hasn't and I hope it stays that way. Maddie is like super protective also. Sorry if they said anything that hurt you." Christy said with an apologetic look.

"No really it's fine. It's good you have two protective sisters to take care of you and watch out for you like that. I'm glad you have Steph and Maddie." I said while patting her hand reassuringly.

"For someone who's so misunderstood, you're so understanding." Christy said while looking straight into my eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"Everyone sees you as this flawless soccer star who is like spoiled and stuck up, yet so many people are basically in love with this false idea of you. They're literally judging you from your looks but in reality you're just this beautiful soccer star who is sweet, understanding, and misunderstood. Even if you did something bad, you still are sweet and understanding while knowing you screwed up."

I looked at Christy and all I could do was smile. Christy saw the best in everyone, even if they completely screwed her over like I did. God she was just so fucking amazing. She was so humble and genuine and kind hearted.

"What did I do to deserve someone like you in my life?"

"You're a good person too Kayla. You just made a few bad decisions along the way and now you're learning from them." Christy said with a soft smile.

I leaned forward and hugged Christy. "You are such an amazing person. Thank you for continuing to be my friend."
