Kayla's POV

I pulled up in front of Christy's house in my dad's black BMW. After I dropped Diana off at her house, I stopped by a flower shop to pick up a red rose. I grabbed the rose and walked out of the car and started walking up the driveway to the front door.

I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.

A girl answered the door and gave me a smile. "You must be Kayla. Please come in."

As I walked in I saw Steph sitting on the couch. She stood up when she saw me and walked over to me and shook my hand.

"Hello Kayla, nice to see you again."

"It's nice to see you again, Steph and Katelyn, it was nice meeting you." I said with a bright smile.

"I hope you take good care of my baby sister, if you hurt her, I'm afraid we'll have to come out and get you." Steph said in a serious tone.

"Steph stop being embarrassing," said another girl who looked similar to Steph as she walked into the room. "I'm Maddie, Christy's older sister." She said while sitting on the couch. "But yeah if you hurt her we'll come out to kick your ass."

I wasn't scared or intimidated by their threat because I had no intention of ever hurting Christy.

"Don't worry, I don't ever plan on-" I was cut off when Christy came into the room.

My god I have never seen someone who legitimately took my breath away. She was literally breathtaking. I just stood there staring at her and I probably also looked like the biggest idiot ever when Maddie's voice brought me back into reality.

"So are you just going to stand there staring at her all night?" Maddie said.

Steph and Katelyn glared at her at the same time and I walked up to her.

"You look amazing. I'm literally speechless with how beautiful you look."

Christy turned a bright shade of red and looked down at the floor. "Aw thank you. You look amazing too."

"Oh yeah! I got this for you." I said while handing her the flower with a smile.

"Aw how cute. Thank you." She said while giving me a kiss.

"Come on we gotta get a move on if we want to make that reservation." I said while extending my hand and she grabbed it and started walking toward the door. We said our goodbyes and went off to the restaurant.

We sat in silence for about 2 minutes before Christy broke the silence.

"Your butt honestly looks so good in that dress." She blurted out.

"Wow how romantic." I said with a laugh.

"Oh sorry was I supposed to be romantic? Okay here how about this, your booty is poppin." She said with a huge grin.

We burst out into laughter. "Okay thanks for the compliment but no copping a feel until we get to the restaurant. But I must say this too, your butt also looks great"

"Okay so tell me this truthfully," she said as she turned her body to face me. "Is my make up too much or too bold? Is it bad? Does it even look good?"

I leaned over and gave her a kiss since we were at a red light. "It looks great babe your sisters did a great job. It makes you look somehow more smoking hot than you already are."

Christy's POV

For the rest of the ride, Kayla basically explained to me what Steph and Katelyn did with their make up cause honestly I know nothing about makeup.

When we got we restaurant and go out of a car. A man went up to her and grabbed the car keys and she thanked him as she took the ticket he gave her.

As I was watching them, I stared at Kayla's muscular but feminine body. The tight dress showed off her hourglass figure and toned legs. She had a nice tan from all the time she spends on the soccer field. Her three inch heels made her 5'10 and increased the height difference between us.

As she walked up to me she took my hand and started walking toward the restaurant before I stopped her. "Wait hold up." I said pulling her back slightly.

"What's wrong?" She said with a frown.

"Nothing, I just wanted to tell you that you looked beautiful." I said as I tried to kiss her but the height difference between us was too great. "Okay Kayla would you like lean down a little?"

She laughed before leaning down slightly and I gave her a quick kiss before grabbing her hand and pulling her toward the restaurant.

"Hello, do you have a reservation?" The hostess said as we walked through the door.

"Yes table for two for Owens." Kayla said.

"Ah yes follow me madam." He started walking into the dining area but then walked up some stairs (which was quite the challenge for me in heels) and kept walking until we were at a smaller dining area that had a huge glass window that had the view of the city.

"Dang, Kayla you didn't have to do all this!" I said as I stared at the room, thinking about how expensive this must've been. "This must have cost a fortune!"

"Don't worry about it, my dad is friends with the owner and nothing is too expensive for my girl." She said while pulling out the chair for me.

I blushed at her statement and sat down onto the seat.

We picked up the menu and looked through it. I honestly had no idea what to order like what the hell is a "sirloin"? Isn't steak just steak? And when I looked at the price my eyes nearly popped out of my head.

"Don't worry about the price everything's already taken cared of. So what looks good?" Kayla said while flipping through the menu.

"Well since it's the only thing I know on the menu, the garlic mashed potatoes."

"Do you want me to take care of the order?"

"That would be great."

Kayla flagged down a waiter and ordered rib eye steaks and a side of mash potatoes for both of us. The waiter took down the order and left.

"So what do you parents do?" I asked while taking a sip of my water.

"My dad is the executive at this company called Genentech."

"What's that?"

"It's a biotechnology company that makes medicine."

"Oh dang that's pretty cool. What about your mom?"

"She's a professor at Stanford."

"Oh dang that's pretty impressive. Katelyn is like a nurse in training I think and Steph is still in school but she works as a part time secretary at Google as an assistant." I said while taking a sip of water.

"So how did you get into basketball?"

"So my mom wanted me to be this amazing pianist and I played for like 3 years before I quit cause I had an interest in basketball."

"Wait isn't your mom Asian?" Kayla said with a laugh.

"Yeah she was. She wasn't thrilled at that idea at all. She wanted me to become the next Beethoven but I was like 'nah I'm gonna be the next Micheal Jordan'. My dad supported it though he always told me to do what I love and not what other people love. How'd you get into soccer?"

"My dad used to play soccer when he was in high school and he would kick the soccer ball around with me ever since I was a little baby."

"Explains why you're basically the next Alex Morgan."

"Oh please, I wished I was that good. I don't think I'll get past college soccer."

"You never know." I said as the food arrived. I looked down at my plate and saw that my meat was slightly pink, just the way I like it.

"I didn't know how you liked your meat cooked so I had it cooked medium rare. I hope that's okay." Kayla said nervously.

"No no it's perfect I like my meat medium anyways."

I picked up my fork and knife and cut a small piece and put it in my mouth. Boy was this good. I never had meat like this. I mean I had steak before that Steph buys from the supermarket but I never had it so full of flavor and juicy.

"How do you like it?" Kayla says as she cuts her meat.

"It's really good. The price for quality huh?"

"It's definitely worth it."

We ate our food while making small talk in between bites but we were both focused on this amazing steak and the heavenly mashed potatoes. When we were finished, the waiter walked up to our table and collected our plates.

"May I interest you in the dessert menu?"

"Yes please." Kayla said before I could even think about it.

They had a small menu but damn did they have some fancy desserts. They had South American flan, CRÈME BRÛLÉE, chocolate moose, and even homemade ice cream.

"I'm not really that hungry but I want dessert so do you want to share the chocolate moose?"

"Sure."

Kayla ordered a chocolate moose and made a point to bring two forks.

"I gotta learn how to cook some steak and garlic mashed potatoes." Kayla said.

"Why?"

"Cause I could tell you really enjoyed the meal but not dressing up which is fine by me. I'd much rather have a date at home than at a restaurant."

"Then why'd you drag me out here?" I teased.

"I wanted to see your hot ass in a dress that's why," she said while wiggling her eyebrows, "definitely worth it." She said as she leaned back at her chair.

I rolled my eyes at her as the waiter set down the moose with two forks. Kayla picked up a fork and cut off a piece and brought it up to my mouth.

"Open."

I opened my mouth and she placed the piece of cake in my mouth and a burst of flavors exploded in my mouth. There was a hint of vanilla, caramel, and a strong milk chocolate taste all in that one bite.

"It's good huh?" She said as she cut a piece for herself.

"Yeah and I don't usually like chocolate too so it's must be really good."

"You don't like chocolate?!"

"I do but like not chocolate ice cream or chocolate cake. Except this one. This is my exception."

Kayla stared at me with wide eyes. "There is something wrong with you because chocolate is the most amazing thing on this planet so you're lucky that I like you."

Just as she was about to say something she was cut off by someone calling her name.

"Kayla?" the voice said.

I turned around and saw a tall male who looked to be a highschool student who sharply dressed in a black suit and black tie. I think he was the school's soccer player but I wasn't sure.

"Oh Jesse. Hello." Kayla said which confirmed my suspicion. She appeared to look flustered.

"I was just going to call you but I might as well ask this now since we're face to face. Do you wanna hang out some time? Like the old times?"

I honestly didn't know what 'old times' meant but there are rumors that they used to hook up and I honestly don't know if they were true or not. By the way that Kayla was acting made me think they were true. Shit if she still has feelings for him I'm gonna get myself out of this mess. I'm not going to let myself get cheated on again. I learned the hard way that it's better to leave than be replaced.

"Ummm I'll let you know. I'll call you okay?"

Jesse smiled, "Good I would love to pick up where we left off since I felt like we ended on a bad note. See you soon." He walked away from the table with a huge smile on his face.

Wait did Jesse just ask Kayla out in front of me? Or did he just ask to hook up with her again? The way Kayla looked did not make me feel reassured about anything.

"So what did he mean by "old times"? Did you and Jesse hook up before?" I asked in a concerned voice. Please please please let the rumors be false.

"Yes we used to hook up regularly." She said in a low voice while looking down.

"So basically you agreed to hook up with him again in front of me while on the date you decided to take me out on?"

"Christy it's not like that let me explain." Kayla said while leaning forward.

"Okay let me just say this. If you're going to have yourself chose between Jesse and I, don't pick me at all. I don't want you to realize that you made the wrong choice and that I disappointed you." I said coldly.

"Can we please take this outside so I can explain?" She pleaded.

I nodded before getting up and walking out of the restaurant in silence. Unlike when we came in, there was no hand holding and fairy tale like vibe to it. It was a tense vibe that made me want to run home to avoid getting hurt again.

We sat on a bench outside the restaurant and Kayla started speaking.

"Jesse and I were fuck buddies and we ended cause I started developing feelings but that was last year. I don't know why I said that because I don't want him back anymore."

"He called you this morning and you dropped what you were doing, which was making out with me, to answer his call. What's up with that?"

"His dad and my dad work together. Well kind of and he was asking about the company party that was coming up."

I stared at her and thought about it for a moment. I had no reason to not trust Kayla, but at the same time my instincts are telling me to run as fast as I can the other way to prevent myself from getting hurt. But I can't let my life be affected by the past. Not after all this time.

"I'm sorry I lashed out at you. I just didn't want someone screwing me over again." I said as I looked down at the floor.

"It's okay I understand." She put her hand on top of mine and looked at me. "I don't want this with anyone else you know?"

"You wouldn't?"

She nodded her head. "There's something about you that pulls me toward you and I always want to be with you and honestly you're so amazing and you deserve the world and I want to give it to you."

I was honestly speechless by her confession. I didn't know what to say and I didn't have to say anything because she leaned in and kissed my passionately.

"Come on, let's get out of here," she said as she grabbed my arm and pulled me up and started walking toward the valet.
