Christy POV

Lunch breezed by and so did the last two periods of the day. It was the first few periods of the day. People congratulating me on the game and some girls doing some extra flirting today. For a Monday during the end of February, it was a pretty laid back day. As I said goodbye to my friends and started walking toward my car I heard a voice call my name behind me. I turned around and saw Kayla.

"Ditching me?" Kayla said with a sarcastic tone as she walked toward me while swaying her hips side to side.

"Oh um didn't know you needed a ride." I answered.

"My friend who was supposed to give me a rie ditched me and you weren't answering your phone so I thought I'd find you in the parking lot." Kayla said in a monotone.

I pulled out my phone and saw I had 3 missed calls and 5 text messages from her.

My face turned red from embarrassment. "Oh... I'm sorry my phone was still on silent and I-"

Kayla let out a laugh. "Don't worry about it. Could you give me a ride to my house? We can work on our project since it was something we planned already."

"Yeah sure hop in." I replied while getting in the car.

Kayla got in the car and I started the engine. A Day To Remember blasted through the speakers and I struggled to turn off the music.

"Sorry" I mumbled as I pulled out of the student parking lot.

"A Day To Remember right?" Kayla asked after we reached a red light.

I stared at her for a second in disbelief. "Um yeah. How'd you know?"

"I had an emo phase and yeah." I stiffened at her statement but continued to drive on.

"Where do you live?" I asked in a monotone.

"You know where St. Francis is?"

I nodded and started driving there. St. Francis is where all the fancy houses were, in other words, where the rich people lived. It was actually a few neighborhoods over to mine but it was nothing compared to how big and nice the houses in St. Francis were.

We rode in silence until I turned the radio on. Uptown Funk was playing and I heard Kayla hum along to the lyrics.

"Turn right here then it's the first house on your left." Kayla instructed.

I nodded and followed her instructions. I looked at her house and it was huge. I was not surprised. I've heard rumors about how her father owned a bunch of companies across the country and even a few overseas. But rumors were rumors but it seemed realistic since her house gave me more than enough proof. Either way, her parents had good paying jobs.

We exited the car as she unlocked the front door.

"Are you hungry? I can ask Margaret to make us something if you are. Kayla asked me while throwing her bag on the couch and turning toward me.

"No I'm not hungry."

"Alright cool let's go up to my room then."

We walked through the hallway until one of the doors flew open.

A tall guy-probably Kayla's sister stepped into the hallway.

Kayla crossed her arms as he stood in our way. "Steven could you move please."

"Woah without an introduction? How rude of you Kayla. Who's this?" Steven asked while flashing me a grin.

Kayla rolled her eyes at him. "This is Christy and she's here to do a project with me. And don't even think about hitting on her. She plays for the other team." Kayla snapped. She took my hand and dragged me into her room.

"Sorry about that. Steven is always trying to hit on my friends." Kayla said in an apologetic tone as she flopped on her bed.

"It's cool don't worry about it." I assured her.

"Speaking of playing for the other team," Kayla said while patting the spot next to her gesturing for me to sit down so I did, "what type of girls do you go for?"

I was taken back by this random question that popped out of nowhere. "Um why?"

"Just wondering. Now tell me!"

"Uhm usually girls who are taller than me and play sports also. A girl with a big heart and a great smile. That's about it basically."

"So me. I'm your type right?" Kayla said cockily while moving closer toward me.

"Whatever floats your boat Kayla. But remember that I don't want to have sex with every girl I see." I said while backing away from her.

Kayla looked a bit shocked and stepped a bit back. "Of course I know you're not attracted to every girl. I'm bisexual myself." She states.

I rolled her eyes at her. "Okay Kayla I came here to do our chemistry project. Not discuss our sexuality. Now can we just do what we came here for?" I say a bit too harshly.

Kayla nods but looks a bit hurt by the statement. I don't know what's up with that girl. One thing I know for sure is that she isn't interested in me. She literally has half the school drooling over for her she could pick anyone she wanted. Maybe she was upset I turned down her attempt to hook up with me.

"Okay so I was thinking about me doing the written report and then you could do the poster and then we can do the PowerPoint together."

"Alright sounds good. So should we start the PowerPoint now or?"

"Nah let's just do some research on it and then put it on a Google Doc so we can share it with each other.

She nodded and went on her laptop while I did the same. After 30 minutes of silent research she broke the silence.

"Sorry about earlier I was just trying to see what your type was." Kayla stammered out so quick I could barely make out what she said.

I glanced up and raised an eyebrow up and stared at her. "Trying to hook me up with someone?"

Kayla seemed to be turning a bit red but I couldn't see for sure. "Sure...I guess you could say something like that."

I brushed off her nervousness and I stood up to stretch the stiffness I got from sitting in one position for so long.

Kayla looked up and her eyes widened. "Are you leaving already?!" She said with a disappointed tone in her voice.

I was confused at why she was acting like this but I brushed it off again. "No I'm just stretching but come to think of it, it is getting late and I have a lot of homework to do for other classes."

Kayla stood up also and faced me. "Okay. So again tomorrow? Working on my project at my place I mean."

I shook my head while packing my stuff into my bag. "Can't. I have practice."

"Oh yeah when's your game?"

"Wednesday at school."

"I'll be there! I'll be cheering for you even though I already know you guys will win." Kayla said excitedly.

"Thanks." I said while walking to the door of her room.

"Oh! I'll walk you out!" She said while opening the door for me. She gestured for me to walk first and I did. When we got to the front of her house she opened the door for me once again.

"You know I can open doors myself?" I said with sarcastic tone.

"Just being a good host." She said while turning red.

"Mhm sure. Bye Kayla see you tomorrow." I said while walking out. I hopped in my car and drove home.

When I got home and got settled, my older sister Steph walked in.

"Hey I thought you didn't have practice today why are you home so late?" Steph asked while sitting down in the couch with me.

"I was doing a project at a friend's house. Is Maddie and Katelyn home yet?"

Steph is 21 and Maddie is 17 and Katelyn is Steph's girlfriend. Our parents passed away a few years ago. Steph was able to gain custody of us and since our parents left us a lot of money, we were able to get by and Steph works part time while going to school full time. Katelyn lives with us and helps us out with the bills and stuff but most of the time we're pretty well off since Steph works part time at Google. They even offered her a full time position once she graduated college which is in only in a couple of months.

"Nah Maddie has hockey practice and Katelyn has work and she's picking up Maddie later. Speaking of picking up, how many girls are all over you because of you winning the game on Friday?" she asked while scooting closer to me.

I playfully pushed her away. "Not even that much Steph! Geez why you always all up in my business with girls like that?"

Steph laughed. "I know how you are around girls. And most importantly I have to make sure you're not breaking too many hearts or being a little fuckgirl. We raised you better than that."

I rolled my eyes at her. "Whatever man. Oh yeah can I go to a party on Friday night? Caleb is throwing it and I'm pretty sure Maddie is going and I'll be sure to leave you at least 2 contacts going. And I'll be home by 12 PM Saturday if I stay over at a friend's house.

"Okay but you know the championship game is the Friday after that party and if you gonna get arrested you know for sure you ain't stepping on the court anytime soon. Remember what happened to Robbie?"

I nodded. Robbie was the school's star quarterback a few years back. They made it to championships and celebrated that night when they accidentally set a car on fire. Let's just say the cops came and Robbie was stripped of all the scholarships he had lined up for him.

"Okay I'm going to do homework now." I headed to my room and started homework only to be startled by the sound of my ringing phone and I looked at it.

Surprise, surprise. It was Kayla.
