The street was quiet,

With no one around.

A little girl hides in the alley,

Rocking herself back and forth.

Yet she knows she must face the truth.

Slowly she crawls to her feet.

Slightly shaking at the task ahead.

Peering around the corner,

She sees a little boy across the street,

Huddled beside a dumpster.

Quickly crossing the road,

She reaches him.

Except, he knows not she's there.

His body shakes and she could hear sniffles.

Stepping closer, she wishes to reach out and touch him.

Yet, she holds back with fear.

Who is this boy?

How did he get here?

Why is he here?

What is his name?

The questions continued to spin,

Throughout her head,

Almost out her mouth.

Turning, she goes to move away.

"Please stay."

She freezes in her place,

Before turning her head.

The boy's head is up,

Fresh tears trail down his face.

His brown eyes pierce into her soul.

She nods once and sits beside him.

His hand comes up to touch her face,

But it passes through her.

Like a ghost.

"No.."

He whispers.

"Stay with me please."

She could still hear his cries,

As she continues to fade,

Away from the boy,

Causing his heart to shatter.

Soon she's no longer seen.

Gone without a single trace.

Gone without a second glance back.

Gone. Forever.
