Ozzie helped take your bags upstairs to your new room. Harriet made sure David and Ricky helped as well. You were nervous, but thankful for the kindness of this family. You had just lost your job and had nowhere else to turn. You were very grateful that they were giving you a spare room until you were back on your feet.

"Everything should be in here. If you need anything else we are just downstairs and the boys are across the hall." Harriet said, you smiled.

"Thank you for everything."

"Oh it's our pleasure dear." She kindly smiled and closed the door. The room wasn't big but wasn't small either. It had a decent sized closet that would fit all your clothes, a comfortable Queen sized bed and a window that overlooks Harriet's beautiful garden.

You started to unpack your things when there was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" You called while folding clothes and putting them away. The door opened but you didn't look.

"Just wanted to see how things are going," Ricky said from the door. He stood with his hands in his front pocket and the two top buttons of his shirt undone. He was no longer the annoying kid that you grew up with. He was shy. He didn't joke around as much as he used to but he was well mannered. He was calm and collected and he sure was nice to look at.

"Everything's just fine, Rick."

"Good, good." He seemed like he wanted to say more but couldn't bring himself to doing so. Once the largest bag was unpacked you fell back onto the bed with swollen feet. You reached down to take off your shoes but Ricky beat you to it. He put the shoes to the side and began to massage your feet. You let out a sigh and laid back down.

"It's just been too much." he looked up at you before looking back down to his lap.

"It's a lot for someone like you to go through. I can't imagine it." You shook your head and covered your eyes with your hands.

"I hope you never have to. I just couldn't be more grateful for you and your family."

"You always felt like part of the family, you were always here anyways." He switched to your other foot. David walked in, leaning against the door frame.

"How are things y/n?" David asked with a smile.

"Getting a little better. Please thank your mom and pop for me. They really are swell." Ricky stood up and pulled you to your feet. You gave a small smile.

"Thank you," you smiled, "I still have a lot to do, planning, figure out what to do next."

"You don't have to have it all figured out right now. I'm sure our parents can help you with the arrangements." David said.

"I've always thought of them as second parents."

"They always thought of you as the daughter they never had. They are very glad to have you here finally." I looked around at the two other bags and boxes left to unpack, I didn't feel like doing it today but it had to be done at some point. If it wasn't something to do today it would be put off for a long time.

"We can help." Ricky offered as if he could read my mind.

"Oh I feel bad. You're already giving up a room in the house for me."

"Nonsense." David waved off as he went to unpack one of the boxes. David always felt like an older brother to me. He was funny, liked to joke, he was a lot more outgoing than Ricky was. He was always very kind, just like his parents.

Ricky unpacked the smaller box, putting things on the bed for me to put away. Things like my cosmetics and little knick-knacks. It wasn't very long until everything was put away and my room looked complete.

"Thanks fellas for helping." I gave a hug to David and then Ricky, who held me tight. David left the room and it was just Rick and I.

"Thank you again, for earlier and everything." My eyes felt heavy while I was leaning into him.

"It was nothing," he said. He picked me up and laid me down onto the bed.

"You look tired, go ahead and rest. I'll wake you when dinner's ready." he said with a shy smile. I closed my eyes and heard quiet footsteps leave my room. Things were still very scary, but in that moment I felt content.
